Patient joined the conference <7:27:57 PM> Cassandra - Doctor joined the conference <7:27:57 PM> readmiuser joined the conference <7:27:58 PM> readmiuser: okay you're good to say after 35 seconds <7:28:08 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: hi Joshua what brings you into that <7:28:10 PM> Joshua - Patient: hey I'm here to see you today because of my knee that's been bothering me for quite a while now <7:28:11 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: oh that's interesting what's bothering your knee <7:28:18 PM> Joshua - Patient: well every time I do anything related to wrestling or Jiu-Jitsu it just flares up and it keeps hurting for at least a week <7:28:23 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: mmm it sounds like this being some real you know quick reactions that you're trying to do with your knee which you usually you know is there's a byproduct of some martial arts and you're trying to do that so because of that it sounds like this this pain when that happens is that is that correct <7:28:34 PM> Joshua - Patient: right <7:28:48 PM> Joshua - Patient: ah I think that what that's what it is <7:28:54 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: okay how often do you do you practice martial arts like in a week how often do you do it <7:28:57 PM> Joshua - Patient: I try to be there every day of the week but every time my knee flares up it limits my Mobility so the quality of the sessions I get drops down significantly so I wouldn't consider them as training sessions so I would say maybe twice a week <7:29:03 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: okay why do you why I mean <7:29:23 PM> Joshua - Patient: yeah well some of the skills I am not used to it and my body doesn't want to do so if I stopped doing them for a week I'll have to start from Square One beginning of the next week if I keep doing them throughout the week I can hold on to that skill set <7:29:27 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: why do you want to do it pretty much every day I mean just <7:29:31 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: it sounds like you know you've been you you're doing Jiu-Jitsu or your Martial Arts pretty much every day of the week and you know because of that it seems like your your knees flaring up the knee pain is flaring up correct <7:29:47 PM> Joshua - Patient: yes sir <7:30:03 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: on a scale of you know one to ten how bad is your pain with one being <7:30:04 PM> Joshua - Patient: it I would say somewhere between 8 and a nine <7:30:10 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: absolutely fine normal and then being really painful <7:30:14 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: wow okay okay that sounds interesting so so again going back to that question of like you know you said that you're going every day to to Jujitsu right you know are you is are you just doing it to keep yourself active or is this is this something that you're trying to you know kind of make sure that you're trying to get your mind off of your other things what's happening <7:30:18 PM> Joshua - Patient: wow <7:30:30 PM> Joshua - Patient: well I want to be and be a jiu jitsu athlete and compete at the highest level in all the ibjjf and the ADCC championships my knee that looks highly doubtful <7:30:41 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: mm-hmm <7:30:52 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: yeah yeah that's interesting uh in addition to Jujitsu what else do you do <7:30:55 PM> Joshua - Patient: well anything that you can think of I try to keep up with my karate which I which I learned growing up that doesn't really bother me because most of my body's used to all the Mooseheads I do a little bit of kickboxing here and there to add all the parts that karate lacks and then a little bit of wrestling too just to dictate where the fight goes <7:31:00 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: oh that's that's that's really nice I mean you seem to be quite active but my question was more slowly related to what else do you do professionally in terms of you know profession in terms of your job yeah what do you do <7:31:21 PM> Joshua - Patient: oh that <7:31:32 PM> Joshua - Patient: well we're currently I'm a student at the Wright State University and I'm pursuing my Master's in computer science so other than what I do in the gym I'm usually just setting in a chair in front of a computer <7:31:34 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: Ah that's great yeah how was your Master's coming along like are you enjoying your courses <7:31:47 PM> Joshua - Patient: it is pretty good it is fun I've learned quite a few things that I didn't <7:31:53 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: oh yeah I mean it's it sounds like you're pretty much on the right track to you know doing well and all of that and you know I've had a friend who recently was complaining a you know a little bit about the job market and stuff are you tends to about the job market in any case <7:31:57 PM> Joshua - Patient: existed so that was that was pretty fun and I'm closing in on my graduation now and I feel pretty confident about all the skills and all the technologies that I've learned and take them into the marketplace <7:32:13 PM> Joshua - Patient: I am a little but I have <7:32:28 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: he so is there any way you're doing more Jujitsu just you know basically you know put your mind at ease while you're while you're trying to navigate all of these you know life-changing decisions <7:32:32 PM> Joshua - Patient: really a year to spend looking for a job so I'm pretty confident I can find something in there but of course that's that tension is going to build up as as I closer to my graduation day <7:32:49 PM> Joshua - Patient: oh well that for sure but while as I was growing up I have always participated in some kind of a sport competitively when I was younger I used to do karate and that didn't really have this big of a toll on my body <7:33:17 PM> Joshua - Patient: I've discovered Jujitsu a year maybe a year ago and I started going back to the gym and I started getting back into the groove and now it once it makes me wants to compete at whatever level I can <7:33:34 PM> Joshua - Patient: or for now it does take my mind off of all the stressful things but it but it is also something that I would like to do competitively <7:33:44 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: have you considered some some supportive exercises to your Jujitsu for example you know in swimming people who swim they also do some weight training and they also do some leg straining to just to support the legs have you considered some supporting exercises we are main activity <7:33:45 PM> Joshua - Patient: right I have tried doing some ways training also but usually at the end of the day I am completely spent so figuring out a time that I could spend lifting weights effectively is really difficult <7:34:05 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: are you doing this with a trainer or you're doing it by yourself <7:34:21 PM> Joshua - Patient: no I have quite a few trainers who are really good at what they do <7:34:25 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: okay that sounds good that sounds good and have you spoken to your trainers about your injuries <7:34:31 PM> Joshua - Patient: I try not to <7:34:37 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: mmm that's interesting that's interesting yeah I mean I know that you want to be a great athlete and then no you want to do that but you can only be a good athlete if you have a body that is that is injury-free and it is fit correct <7:34:40 PM> Joshua - Patient: it just <7:34:40 PM> Joshua - Patient: because the environment of the gym is such that you can't really complain about any pain unless it's something that you feel might break <7:34:50 PM> Joshua - Patient: makes you look weak and <7:34:53 PM> Joshua - Patient: easy fodder for all the higher level people <7:34:57 PM> Joshua - Patient: right <7:35:16 PM> Cassandra - Doctor: okay yeah we can read and close this ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 17, 2025, 7:35:26 PM
