Patient: oh yeah I mean I wake up on any given morning and I've got a whole box of pills in front of me to take throughout the day and it's it's a little overwhelming <3:00:47 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm <3:00:54 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I you know some of them I take with food some of them I don't take with food some of them I take in the morning some of them I take after I've checked my sugar some of them I take at night you know and it's just you know some of them I take in the middle of the day when I'm <3:00:56 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: tell me more about how that's over me <3:01:14 PM> Angie - Patient: you know out and about with my you know spouse or my friends and it's it's just so hard to remember what I've taken what I've not taken <3:01:20 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: yeah it sounds like it's hard to keep track of everything <3:01:24 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah and you know I got him in one of those little pill boxes and you know even my afternoon meds but if I get home at 7:00 and I forgot to take my afternoon meds I figure why why take them at this point so I just don't and just wait for my evening meds <3:01:36 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm <3:01:47 PM> Angie - Patient: I don't know doc I was hoping maybe you could take me off some of these <3:01:51 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: what do you see as a solution <3:01:57 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm if we take you off the medications what do you see happening <3:02:02 PM> Angie - Patient: oh well I I certainly wouldn't be so frustrated with missing them if they weren't prescribed to me to begin with but <3:02:16 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I don't know are these medications really doing anything for me I I take them and I come in and the nurse still tells me that my blood pressure still high and you know I do the labs in my cholesterol still high and every time I come in my blood sugar keeps going up it's like I take these medicines and they don't even help me anyways <3:02:16 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm <3:02:34 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I was hoping that taking some of these medicines that I would not have high blood pressure anymore I want it have you know this you know blood sugar thing going on <3:02:37 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: it sounds like you're frustrated about maybe the results you're seeing when you come into the office <3:02:53 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm tell me about how those conditions impact your daily life <3:02:56 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I I know that <3:03:07 PM> Angie - Patient: diabetes like I just <3:03:07 PM> Angie - Patient: you know <3:03:10 PM> Angie - Patient: sometimes I don't feel all that well and you know my blood sugar gets high I can't lose any weight and you know I gotta watch what I eat and that's really the worst part is I I can't eat some of the things that I used to love because they you know you say that it's bad for my blood sugar so I mean that's the worst part I can't even enjoy some of the things I used to love <3:03:24 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm <3:03:35 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: what kinds of things <3:03:38 PM> Angie - Patient: oh I really love like baked goods you know like pie or a homemade cupcakes or cookies you know those I really love to bake for my grandkids and I am you know I feel like I can't even have those things anymore <3:03:38 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: you're not eat that you want to <3:03:52 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: you like to bake for your grandkids <3:03:57 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I love to drop them off treats for after school or <3:04:00 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: yeah that sounds so fun how do you see your medications helping with that <3:04:05 PM> Angie - Patient: you know bake bake up some cupcakes and let them help me they love that <3:04:19 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: mmm <3:04:19 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean my my Med medications are supposed to help bring those numbers down but I I just don't feel like they're <3:04:28 PM> Angie - Patient: they're even working you know they're supposed to help me get back to a good place but every time I come in here it's you know more of the same <3:04:31 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: how does your lifestyle impact those numbers <3:04:43 PM> Angie - Patient: um what do you mean <3:04:44 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: um well if you said you missed some doses of your medication or like diet or exercise can also impact <3:04:59 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: are numbers I was wondering if you see any <3:05:03 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: impact from those things <3:05:04 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I I know that since I haven't been feeling as well I have not been getting out for walks as much as I used to <3:05:15 PM> Angie - Patient: so I mean that's certainly one of the things and then you know I <3:05:20 PM> Angie - Patient: you know I'm I might leave a few of the treats that I do bake at home for myself because it's just hard to give those up <3:05:23 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: yeah so it's hard to give up treats <3:05:32 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: and then tell me more about how you used to go on walks <3:05:34 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I used to make sure that like every evening after dinner I'd get out side but you know my legs and my feet have been not feeling so good and I feel like it makes me kind of swell up when I get out there to go for a walk but <3:05:37 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: here <3:05:42 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: mmm why do you think it's getting harder to walk <3:05:52 PM> Angie - Patient: I mean I know when I used to get out there and walk every night it used to make me feel better <3:05:59 PM> Angie - Patient: um I assume it's probably got something to do with the fact that like my numbers aren't getting any better <3:06:07 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: mmm <3:06:10 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: so <3:06:13 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: on a scale of 1 to 10 <3:06:16 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: likely are you like on a given day to take all of your medications <3:06:18 PM> Angie - Patient: I mean I always try <3:06:23 PM> Angie - Patient: but I would say <3:06:26 PM> Angie - Patient: you know <3:06:27 PM> Angie - Patient: I would say maybe <3:06:29 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: okay <3:06:31 PM> Angie - Patient: 60 70% of the time I get them all in <3:06:38 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: and why is it 60 to 70% and not lower like 20 to 30% <3:06:44 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I put them all out in my pill box and I <3:06:50 PM> Angie - Patient: I try to remember to take them <3:06:50 PM> Angie - Patient: but <3:06:52 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm <3:06:53 PM> Angie - Patient: you know I just get busy throughout the day and you know just kind of forget I guess I just feel like if they're not bringing my numbers down maybe they're not as important as what they say they are <3:07:06 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: so if you <3:07:08 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: were to keep taking them about 60 to 70% of the time like you are <3:07:14 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: how do you see your health in five years <3:07:16 PM> Angie - Patient: probably the same <3:07:20 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: hmm <3:07:21 PM> Angie - Patient: you know like <3:07:23 PM> Angie - Patient: members probably aren't going to get all that much better <3:07:25 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: how do you <3:07:27 PM> Angie - Patient: but maybe they won't get that much worse either <3:07:29 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: how do you think that'll impact you <3:07:31 PM> Angie - Patient: hmm <3:07:36 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I don't like feeling this way I don't I would like to feel better than I do <3:07:44 PM> Angie - Patient: I mean and I guess the thing that makes me feel the best is when I get out and exercise <3:07:50 PM> Angie - Patient: so I wonder if maybe just making sure I took my medication all the time when <3:07:50 PM> Angie - Patient: helped me <3:07:54 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: yeah what do you like about exercising <3:07:57 PM> Angie - Patient: feel better so that I would get out there and exercise which would maybe Compound on <3:08:02 PM> Angie - Patient: taking the medications regularly <3:08:05 PM> Angie - Patient: um <3:08:10 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I think just in general it makes me feel better makes me feel accomplished makes me feel like I am doing something for my health to go in the direction <3:08:22 PM> Angie - Patient: you know <3:08:22 PM> Angie - Patient: you know I'm certainly not out there running any marathons but even if I could <3:08:26 PM> Angie - Patient: to take a couple mile walk that does make me feel better about doing something rather than nothing <3:08:29 PM> Tevia OBrien - Doctor: yeah ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Apr 28, 2025, 3:08:42 PM
