Doctor joined the conference <5:35:27 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient joined the conference <5:35:40 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: so I know you're a bit frustrated having to deal with all these pills and everything to take <5:35:46 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know it <5:35:48 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: um can you explain to me what your frustrated about with it <5:35:57 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: seems like morning noon and night <5:36:00 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: like I got to put all these pills in my mouth and I don't like taking pills in the first place <5:36:07 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and <5:36:09 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know I can't say I feel that much different whether I take them or not <5:36:16 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:36:16 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know if I had to take one or two pills in the morning and that's it <5:36:21 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I could probably do that but <5:36:23 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: sometimes I forget sometimes I <5:36:27 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I just don't take them because I don't want to <5:36:33 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: what do you think you could do to make it so you only had to take one or two pills in the morning <5:36:37 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: um <5:36:40 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: you <5:36:43 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well I guess I would hope that maybe you could <5:36:49 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: describe one pill that would take care of all these problems <5:36:49 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: here I wish I could too <5:36:53 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well I you probably <5:36:56 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: um <5:36:57 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: I guess are there any actions you could take to <5:37:02 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: maybe make it so you don't have to take so many pills <5:37:11 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know getting to <5:37:13 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: diet and exercise <5:37:17 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: good I know I don't eat well I mean I eat what I want not what is probably good for me and <5:37:24 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: exercises usually getting up to find the remote so I can sit back in my recliner and flip channels <5:37:33 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: so so but <5:37:37 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: even if I change my diet and started moving more <5:37:38 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: maybe <5:37:38 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: I think it is the most important step for you to <5:37:41 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know would that really eliminate the need for me to take all these medications <5:37:53 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: off some of these medications I can't make a guarantee or anything but <5:37:53 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: I <5:38:00 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: if you were looking to cut back on how many medications you have to take that is the biggest thing <5:38:07 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: that it would happen effect on <5:38:08 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: here um <5:38:10 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: so what changes do you think you could make to your diet or exercise <5:38:21 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well in terms of exercise <5:38:27 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know I still works I don't have that much time <5:38:32 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: but <5:38:33 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know I suppose I could <5:38:34 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:38:36 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: get up and move around a little bit more during the day at work <5:38:41 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and maybe I don't know walk around the block at home when I got home or something maybe first thing before I get too comfortable <5:38:50 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: um <5:38:52 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: and how do you think you would <5:38:55 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: you as a result of <5:38:58 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: moving around a little bit more or trying to eat better <5:39:02 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: how about <5:39:02 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:39:05 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well to be honest probably worse <5:39:10 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: initially at least <5:39:12 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I guess if it had an effect I might I might feel better and if it helped me cut out some meds that might <5:39:13 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: long-term <5:39:26 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and then I wouldn't be so frustrated by that <5:39:32 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: but <5:39:36 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I don't know <5:39:40 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: hi years ago I was a smoker and it's like I gave that up and I don't drink as much as I used to so I come back on that so it sort of feels like <5:39:47 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: yeah so what was your motivation for giving up smoking and drinking <5:39:52 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: eating what I want is <5:39:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I don't want to have to give that up to <5:39:58 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well I haven't completely given up drinking I've just cut back <5:40:11 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: hi <5:40:13 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I guess <5:40:18 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: with drinking <5:40:20 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I felt like it was one thing I could do to maybe keep this gut from getting bigger <5:40:24 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:40:29 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: class <5:40:32 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: plus I don't know it was getting harder to get up in the mornings I was spent too much time at the bar <5:40:39 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: so so that and then was smoking <5:40:44 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: hi there been a couple people in my a couple relatives that have died of lung cancer and they were smokers and <5:40:52 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: saw how bad it was for them toward the end so <5:40:52 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: yeah I'm really sorry to hear that you lost people to cancer like that that's never easy and I'm really proud of you for quitting those things I know it's not tough <5:40:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: thought you know I don't want to have to go through that <5:41:11 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: or I know it's not easy it's really tough <5:41:14 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: um <5:41:16 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: I know you said about maybe one to lose some weight so do you think that are <5:41:19 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: the top <5:41:21 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: my <5:41:21 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: but I'm guessing I would have to do a whole lot more exercise than I just described to you to have really any impact on <5:41:24 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: how do you think that changing your exercise habits or Diet habits would help or change that <5:41:31 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay in I think <5:41:43 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: how much <5:41:43 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: 8 and I probably would have to cut back a lot on <5:41:48 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I'm eating <5:41:50 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: to really lose weight as well <5:41:53 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: um <5:41:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: which is probably part of why I I've not done anything yet <5:42:01 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it I'm not all that confident that <5:42:09 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I'm committed to doing enough to really make a difference <5:42:16 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: every day <5:42:20 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: kind of on the path but a little bit off so we don't have to make any drastic changes we can start little changes and then just start building off of those so it doesn't have to be anything huge right away <5:42:22 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: uh <5:42:34 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: so <5:42:34 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: um so I know we're kind of going down this road of exercise and diet <5:42:42 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: would be something that would <5:42:45 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: been for you or happen to you for you to really make a change <5:42:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: was if I were sicker and and actually had <5:42:59 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: to do something different probably going to die or something like that <5:43:02 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:43:04 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well at that point you know if I had something like a heart attack I guess <5:43:05 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: and then what do you think would happen if you didn't make a change to your diet or exercise at all <5:43:14 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:43:20 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: if the first one didn't kill me I'd be <5:43:23 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: kind of a Sitting Duck for another one probably would kill me <5:43:27 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: yeah <5:43:29 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: um do you happen to have any worries of something like that happening to you or what worries do you have of something like that happening to you <5:43:42 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well when you bring it up I don't want to think about it so I think <5:43:49 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: that I just don't think about it so <5:43:53 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I'm I'm not thinking about it I don't have to worry about it <5:43:57 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well it <5:44:00 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: what is I guess do you think that's a good way of <5:44:07 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: kind of dressing your health <5:44:10 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:44:14 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: so you wouldn't be asking me if it was a good way <5:44:18 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it's it's what I'm doing <5:44:23 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know I probably should care more about my health and I <5:44:25 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:44:30 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: okay well doing something <5:44:32 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: and what changes do you think you could make initially so maybe <5:44:38 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: you wouldn't have to worry about something like that happening to you or your health <5:44:49 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: off to prevent things getting worse I guess this is sort of the obvious <5:44:54 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: step thing I should do I <5:44:55 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: it's <5:44:57 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it's just not easy to do I guess if it were easy to do I would have done it a long time ago <5:45:05 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well <5:45:06 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: what do you think you could do to make a change <5:45:13 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: the next week <5:45:18 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I said I could try to make an effort to move around a little more work and <5:45:24 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: maybe try to walk around the block or something before I go into house when I get home <5:45:30 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it's the weather is okay <5:45:33 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and I guess with diet I'm <5:45:38 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: might be a little more willing to try to eat a little bit less rather than change what I'm eating <5:45:38 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:45:43 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I'm gonna go ahead and stop you here <5:45:47 PM> Andrew Morosky - Doctor: okay <5:45:48 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: remember that ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Apr 29, 2025, 5:45:54 PM
