Doctor: how it sounded and it sounded to me like you were doing pretty well with most of your meds sometimes missing them can you tell me more about why some of those meds end up getting missed <7:43:05 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: he's just too many like I feel like every time I come in here you guys give me something else to take I <7:43:20 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: some of them like something make my stomach hurt when I take them if I take two at the same time then they make me have to go to the bathroom more I just <7:43:31 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I just want to take all these meds anymore I just want to wake up and go about my day I just it's too many <7:43:35 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: mm-hmm <7:43:37 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I can't take this many <7:43:39 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I mean they tell me I have like hypertension and hyperlipidemia and high cholesterol all of those things but that's why they give me the medications but I just don't understand like why I need to take so many like can I take you know try a new Med this maybe once a day instead of three times a day or <7:43:40 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: can you tell me about you know why you are taking some of the meds that you are taking <7:44:07 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I don't know can I do something else can I just change my diet or just like you know drink more water why do I have to take So Many Meds <7:44:11 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: mm-hmm so I know in our like you just said you know I know in our words we say things like oh you have this hypertension oh you have this disease and stuff like that but not in our words can you tell me in your words you know <7:44:30 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: I know you missed some of your meds sometimes but you take a lot of them a lot of the time too what why are what makes you take them you know why haven't you started taking more of them <7:44:31 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I take the ones that make me feel better like instantly so like when I take my blood pressure medicine I don't have a headache anymore <7:44:31 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: so <7:44:50 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I take that one for that reason <7:44:54 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I don't know <7:44:54 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I don't take my cholesterol medication because <7:44:58 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: cholesterol is like I don't <7:45:01 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: think I have any effects from from cholesterol so I just don't feel the need to take that I take my <7:45:09 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I HCTZ because you know it helps me go to the bathroom so yeah I might be going like five or six times a day but <7:45:18 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I'm okay with that one because I think that one's helping me I don't feel so bloated in full all the time <7:45:22 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: mm-hmm <7:45:25 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I'm able to do more I'm not sure to breathe all the time I can you know get around and play with my grandkids and stuff like that but what I have to focus on taking all the other ones that I'm not seeing like an immediate change with <7:45:39 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: mm-hmm <7:45:40 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: makes them not want to take them <7:45:43 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: how often do you get to see those grandkids <7:45:45 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I love my grandkids so much um so I don't get to see Ms often as I would like because they live in another state <7:45:54 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: but I usually see them at least every summer they come down so I like to take them to the pool and then you know try to get them involved in the other activities like 4-H and and you know I'll put them in t-ball here and there but <7:46:09 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: yeah those are just my favorite times like getting the you know spend time with my grandbabies but when I'm like being bogged down by taking so many medications I don't think I can enjoy my time as much with them because I'm trying to remember all of these different things to do and I also like don't want them getting in my pills either there's so many I feel like I have to to lay them all out on the counter just to remember which ones I'm supposed to take on which day <7:46:32 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: it sounds <7:46:32 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: mm-hmm <7:46:35 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: it is <7:46:37 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: like time with your grandkids is very valuable to you <7:46:41 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: yeah kind of a funny thing you know hypertension just because it's one thing that we've brought up you know have you ever heard what some of you know what some people call hypertension you know have you ever heard some of its other names not from doctors or anything like that one of the more popular ones if you're thinking about it is you know I've heard it called the silent killer before have you ever heard that one <7:46:42 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: oh no I've never heard that it's gonna kill me <7:47:08 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: well what does it mean obviously that kind of got you a little excited what does it mean to you when you hear that <7:47:09 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: it sounds like something I definitely don't want to have it I don't it sounds like maybe it'll just sneak up on me one day and I don't know take me away from my grandkids and I don't want that <7:47:24 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: yeah <7:47:28 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: you know one of the difficulties with a lot of these medications that you're on you know you mentioned that you like things that give you the immediate effect but sometimes it's you know if it's not giving you an immediate effect it's hard to want to know it but how do you feel about some of these conditions you had how do you feel like they affect your future <7:47:30 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: well I know I'm only getting older and I know I don't have that much time left here on the Earth but <7:47:56 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: you know I want to live out the last of my days like happy and joyful and as healthy as I can be um <7:48:04 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: and so you know if those medications are the only thing left that will help me obviously I'll have to take them but <7:48:14 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: I just don't know if I can be consistent with it there's just so many I just can't remember how many there are to take at one time so a lot of them don't get taken the ones that I can remember and the ones that you know I can see immediate changes with I do but <7:48:31 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: a lot of them just fall to the Wayside <7:48:34 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: well even though sometimes you're missing some let's remember that it you know after we went through you do a great job with most of them I mean taking this many medications it's not always easy it sounds like <7:48:34 PM> Jaliyah Spann - Patient: it's definitely not <7:48:49 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: now but you still are doing a good job with the ones you are taking I you know I don't think that should go unnoticed you know obviously it'd be awesome if we could be including more <7:49:03 PM> James Rogers - Doctor: I'll end there thank you ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Apr 29, 2025, 7:49:06 PM
