Patient: you know we increase that dose last time and I initially felt like it was doing a little bit better <5:10:47 PM> Angie - Patient: and <5:10:47 PM> Angie - Patient: but you know it just didn't make quite as much improvement as you know when I initially started taking it <5:10:54 PM> Angie - Patient: I think I was just hoping to feel a little bit better than I've been feeling lately <5:10:55 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah sorry to hear that how have you been feeling on it <5:10:59 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I do think that it helps like kind of at Baseline like just kind of day-to-day but I have really been struggling with a lot of stressful things going on and it's just been really hard to get through those and I feel like <5:10:59 PM> Angie - Patient: I'm just <5:11:08 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: here <5:11:21 PM> Angie - Patient: spending more time at home in my apartment and <5:11:25 PM> Angie - Patient: appetites just not been that great and just in general I have been feeling kind of crummy <5:11:30 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: no that's no fun um <5:11:30 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: what are some <5:11:34 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: the stressors you've been up against <5:11:35 PM> Angie - Patient: oh yeah I mean I've been dealing with this depression for like six months now and I feel like it's really starting to show in my work <5:11:44 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: for <5:11:44 PM> Angie - Patient: you know my presentations just haven't been as good as they have been in the past and my interactions with co-workers like I've been kind of short and distant with them so I feel like I have not <5:11:58 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: it <5:11:59 PM> Angie - Patient: been doing as well at work and I have an evaluation coming up <5:12:04 PM> Angie - Patient: so I'm quite worried about that and then in the midst of all of that my roommate let me know that they were moving out so <5:12:04 PM> Angie - Patient: I'm really worried <5:12:12 PM> Angie - Patient: about finances and then on top of that the job <5:12:13 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:12:16 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: tell you <5:12:17 PM> Angie - Patient: it's been a lot <5:12:19 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah it sounds like a lot remind me where do you work again <5:12:19 PM> Angie - Patient: oh I work at this local manufacturing place I work in the office doing like product development and it's just kind of intense like so yeah they put a lot of pressure on us <5:12:23 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: here <5:12:30 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: okay <5:12:31 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: oh <5:12:36 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah <5:12:38 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: um do you normally find that you're able to work well under pressure or is that something that kind of <5:12:44 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: Supergirl <5:12:45 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean it's been a while but I feel like I'm not able to like rise to the challenge like I don't feel like I have the energy like I used to or stamina just because I felt so down lately <5:12:53 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:12:55 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah did you get a chance to look into that referral we chatted about before to the counseling service <5:13:04 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I kind of thought about it it just it makes me nervous to go and open up to someone new <5:13:07 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: purpose yeah I understand that have you ever had any experience with counseling in the past <5:13:12 PM> Angie - Patient: um you know my sister goes to counseling um and she's got a lot going on and I feel like maybe like my problems just aren't as serious as you know individuals who might need counseling like I feel like they're going to think I'm being petty <5:13:31 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: thank you <5:13:38 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: I can see where you may feel that way the nice thing about that is <5:13:46 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: the things <5:13:46 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: you're not dealing with <5:13:50 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: function <5:13:50 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: make you feel like oh my goodness this is on the edge but at the same time anything that's affecting your life is going to be important to a counselor because they want you to have as much <5:14:01 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: and it's much quality of life as you possibly can so even if to you it feels less important maybe than what your sister may be going through if it's affecting your quality of life it's just as important to the healthcare team as something that may be more Monumental in your <5:14:18 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: it's like <5:14:20 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: um do you have you felt in the past as if counselors have belittled your struggles or that you've come across that in healthcare <5:14:28 PM> Angie - Patient: up no not necessarily I think maybe I'm feeling that way about myself <5:14:38 PM> Angie - Patient: feeling like I should be able to get over it with just medication like my problems aren't that big I guess I just wish the medication would work a little better for me that way I didn't need to go to counseling <5:14:46 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah I understand that and unfortunately you know meds can only do so much and there's things I mean we all have to talk about things there's things in my life I have to talk to someone about and I think counseling just really opens up that space to be able to find someone who <5:15:06 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: has been trained to help people kind of <5:15:06 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: think <5:15:09 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: through things in their life whatever things that is that's bothering them do you feel as though you'd be willing to give that a chance <5:15:17 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I mean I could at least reach out and maybe go and see how the first appointment goes <5:15:28 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I think it's more of like a feeling I would have to get over it myself to let myself know that my problems aren't that small <5:15:33 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah I understand that what do you think could help in that <5:15:38 PM> Angie - Patient: um <5:15:44 PM> Angie - Patient: gosh I don't know <5:15:48 PM> Angie - Patient: I'm not sure <5:15:53 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: and that's one of the main things that counselors are trying to do is to help you kind of look <5:16:01 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: your own thought processes and you know those things where you're like <5:16:04 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: I need to think differently about this which is what you just said about you know thinking about the counseling is I need <5:16:13 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: realize that my problems are worth their time even though they may not seem astronomical and that's exactly what they're trying to do is help you kind of take that introspective approach and be able to think the way you'd like to think about things <5:16:24 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah <5:16:34 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: do you feel like that could <5:16:34 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: help <5:16:38 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: that there are other aspects of your life where that would be <5:16:41 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: a good approach for you <5:16:45 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I and and you know maybe if I get in there and I get talking about a few other things maybe she or he might be able to help me come up with some new strategies to improve my energy or improve my coping or to be able to get out of my apartment and they might be able to suggest some strategies as some things that I haven't really thought about outside of medication <5:16:45 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: possible <5:17:11 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah and I think that's exactly what they're trying to do and would really be a benefit to you to be able to kind of work that in conjunction with the medications we have you on <5:17:22 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: end so those can both help you kind of go back to how you were feeling before the last six months and be able to perform at work like you'd like to and all of those things <5:17:23 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah <5:17:34 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: okay so do you think we can make a plan to <5:17:35 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah yeah I can reach out and see what they have open <5:17:37 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here <5:17:40 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: back here in about a week and you can try to get that appointment in the meantime <5:17:48 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: okay that'd be fabulous <5:17:52 PM> Paul Hershberger: let me take care of one other ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at May 6, 2025, 5:17:59 PM
