Doctor: to <5:35:21 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: so can you tell me a little bit about any concerns you might have about 10 <5:35:42 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: what are his favorite foods <5:35:44 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah it loves mac and cheese chicken nuggets Pizza <5:35:52 PM> Angie - Patient: um <5:35:54 PM> Angie - Patient: basically anything that's carbon cheese based and if I even asked him to eat anything else <5:35:57 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: I see um have you tried any alternative like recipes or even if you you know I know a lot of people don't have time but trying to get you know chicken nuggets that are kind of vegetable based or something just to kind of introduce those things to his diet <5:36:01 PM> Angie - Patient: is World War 3 all evening long <5:36:11 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah yeah I blend up carrots or spaghetti squash and like puree it in our spaghetti sauce I have tried smoothies I have tried cauliflower pizza crust I have tried every alternative vegetable based product known to man and he can sniff it out from a mile away yeah it's awful <5:36:42 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: I don't know <5:36:42 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: well <5:36:48 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: it sounds like you really been doing whatever you can and but we'll definitely continue to bring storm ideas because I know it's got to be frustrating for you what <5:37:00 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: do you all all eat whatever he eats for the night or are you eating different foods <5:37:00 PM> Angie - Patient: oh we are 100% eating different foods I have to make two different dinners it's very frustrating you know I don't like the way that he eats and very much realized that the way that he eats has to be contributing to such a moody attitude if I ate the way that he ate I would be very grumpy <5:37:08 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: switch off <5:37:16 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:37:25 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: for <5:37:28 PM> Angie - Patient: we eat lots of salads and vegetables lots of fresh fruit you know we eat chicken fish you know whole grains we eat you know whole potatoes or we'll eat quinoa rice you know we have a great dinner and he won't touch it and <5:37:45 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:37:51 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: thank you <5:37:52 PM> Angie - Patient: gotten to the point some weeks where I just get so frustrated and fighting with him that if he doesn't like what I eat he can just eat a peanut butter sandwich and I'm not making it for him <5:38:00 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah I mean it's got to be time consuming doing dinner twice over I can barely handle it once to be on it my husband Cooks half the time but <5:38:02 PM> Angie - Patient: yes <5:38:11 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: um so I can definitely see how that would be stressful for you <5:38:16 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: how how is his snack intake <5:38:19 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah um you know we do have some snacks in the house um you know like we do pack lunch or you know we'll go on a picnic or something and we tend to do like the baked lace box or we'll do like you know a few of those like more natural ingredients snacks from Target like you know the cheddar bunnies or whatever so we do have some of those and you know about 6:30 I'm cleaning up dishes and he's walking into the house to go grab snacks and I I'm not home every evening I try to cut him off and tell him <5:39:02 PM> Angie - Patient: most <5:39:02 PM> Angie - Patient: um because he hasn't eaten dinner um but <5:39:07 PM> Angie - Patient: the time I don't have the will to fight with him <5:39:09 PM> Angie - Patient: and we typically eat around 5 <5:39:09 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: what time do you eat dinner <5:39:11 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: okay so you're saying that he won't eat dinner and then a few hours later he's looking for a snack <5:39:14 PM> Angie - Patient: oh yeah yeah he's hungry he um you know like if I haven't made anything extra for him he you know will eat his peanut butter sandwich and he's still hungry because he hasn't had much protein or had much else to fill him up so he's back for a snack right away <5:39:22 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: okay I got you <5:39:24 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:39:29 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah <5:39:37 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:39:40 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: sorry there were external noises <5:39:46 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: I lost my train of thought <5:39:48 PM> Angie - Patient: do a summary <5:39:48 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: the snacks <5:40:07 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: I just lost my train of thought so basically it sounds like you're trying everything within your power to introduce these things to your son's diet I can definitely see how it's frustrating with him just wanting to snack rather than eat at meals have you tried reintroducing dinner when he comes back in looking for a snack <5:40:22 PM> Angie - Patient: um you know I I have it um typically I want to get things cleaned up and moved on with our evening I could put his plate in the fridge and offer to warm it up for him but I imagine I'm gonna get much of the same response as the first time as in I'm not eating that that's gross don't let that touch me <5:40:57 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah and <5:40:59 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: don't <5:40:59 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: one thing that we <5:41:01 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: want because nutrition is extremely important for kids so you know you don't want to cultivate a poor relationship with food or make it seem like food is a punishment or any of those things or you know starve him until he eats the thing that you magically want him to eat but what strategies do you think we could have to help him <5:41:01 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: have <5:41:11 PM> Angie - Patient: sure <5:41:26 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: a better relationship with more healthy foods <5:41:28 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I don't know I feel like when it comes to food I feel like we have tried everything and I'm I'm mostly just banking on he's gonna mature and grow out of it like I hope that he matures and sees that other kids his age eat other things whether at school or at birthday parties and that he becomes more open to trying things I really feel like we have given almost everything when it comes to food a try <5:41:29 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: if you <5:41:38 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: people <5:41:40 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: right <5:41:47 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: yeah <5:41:57 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: mm-hmm <5:41:59 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah I feel like we've given so much a try when it comes to food <5:42:03 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: this um <5:42:07 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: you mentioned though that he's been having some social <5:42:11 PM> Sarah Scott - Doctor: shoes at school <5:42:14 PM> Angie - Patient: yeah he's been getting bullied at school his friends are kind of making fun of his weight ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at May 6, 2025, 5:42:20 PM
