patient: I just don't know why am I on so many <6:08:21 PM> Trevor - Doctor: yeah you are on quite a bit do you know how many you're on currently <6:08:28 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I don't know how many I mean it's too many <6:08:34 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: it's too many I know <6:08:37 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: got a pill for diabetes diet pill for high blood pressure pill for this and that <6:08:44 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: if it gets too much <6:08:45 PM> Trevor - Doctor: it why do you feel it's too much <6:08:46 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: oh well why it just it's cost way too much and two it's just too much to remember to take and things like that I don't think I need them <6:08:53 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:08:56 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay so really with the amount of medications you have from hearing correctly it's costing a lot of money and <6:09:09 PM> Trevor - Doctor: it's a big burden for you trying to take all your medications <6:09:09 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I mean yeah I don't think I need them as well <6:09:13 PM> Trevor - Doctor: why don't you feel you need to <6:09:18 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I I just don't think it <6:09:23 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: these pills are really going to help me I don't think that I my health is that bad <6:09:24 PM> Trevor - Doctor: it <6:09:31 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: for me to need these many pills <6:09:34 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I I don't know that's why again I don't know why I'm on so many <6:09:34 PM> Trevor - Doctor: what can you tell me about why you're taking the pills <6:09:37 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:09:43 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: yeah <6:09:44 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay so what are you being treated for <6:09:45 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: High diabetes I know I've high blood pressure <6:09:52 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: um <6:09:54 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I've coordinated something wrong with my <6:09:58 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: blood <6:09:58 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: something wrong with my <6:10:00 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: something like that <6:10:03 PM> Trevor - Doctor: mm-hmm have you been able to take your medications <6:10:03 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: but again I don't think that means I don't think that <6:10:07 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: eat that many medications for that <6:10:10 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I mean I don't really take them <6:10:15 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:10:18 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: anymore because there's so many and yeah <6:10:21 PM> Trevor - Doctor: when was the last time you took your medications <6:10:22 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: probably a couple weeks ago <6:10:26 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay so I understand you know your concern with trying to keep up with everything and maybe not understanding why you have to take all these medications <6:10:30 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: oh what's happening now I think I'll be fine <6:10:40 PM> Trevor - Doctor: what do you feel would happen if you didn't take the medications <6:10:43 PM> Trevor - Doctor: yeah and so you say that's been a couple months <6:10:47 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: a couple weeks <6:10:50 PM> Trevor - Doctor: a couple weeks <6:10:53 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: uh I mean I don't know <6:10:53 PM> Trevor - Doctor: how do you what do you feel would happen if you continued not taking your medications for a year let's say <6:11:00 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay well let's start we have a couple things to to kind of touch base on right so you're being treated for hypertension <6:11:04 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I don't know really know what the medications are doing so I don't know what I would be like if I didn't take them <6:11:14 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: um <6:11:20 PM> Trevor - Doctor: Beauties some heart issues right <6:11:24 PM> Trevor - Doctor: you know the complications or what are the complications that you know of with those disorders <6:11:35 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: well I mean hard issues I know you can have a heart attack but the other two I mean what is high blood pressure but a number <6:11:41 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:11:44 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: um <6:11:45 PM> Trevor - Doctor: have you ever known anyone with high blood pressure <6:11:46 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: yeah <6:11:47 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I'm my parents had it <6:11:56 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: my kids have it <6:11:56 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:11:59 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay so you mentioned the heart attack as being a potential issue that can happen does that worry you <6:12:03 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I mean yeah <6:12:07 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay and so knowing that that's a potential issue along with many other things with worsening diabetes can also damage your heart your blood vessels <6:12:09 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: okay I don't want I mean <6:12:09 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: don't <6:12:12 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: want I mean don't want that to happen <6:12:25 PM> Trevor - Doctor: in the hypertension as well knowing those complications <6:12:26 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: it's just it seems like it too much for <6:12:29 PM> Trevor - Doctor: um why haven't you wanted to take your medication <6:12:32 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:12:36 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: what's going on I don't think well I don't understand why I need that many pills <6:12:42 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: for that for for that <6:12:43 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:12:45 PM> Trevor - Doctor: is it is it more of a burden for you to <6:12:50 PM> Trevor - Doctor: to take your medications or would it be more of a burden to you know have to go into inpatient treatment if something were to happen like a heart attack or some of these other complications <6:12:54 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I mean well I guess the heart attack I get I don't want to have a heart attack but <6:13:11 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: again <6:13:13 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I don't think <6:13:16 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I don't think I need to be on them <6:13:20 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I guess <6:13:22 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: just the amount of it again I don't understand why there's so many so many medications <6:13:23 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay the issue with you sounds like it's you mention the cost previously but also you mentioning kind of taking a lot of pills <6:13:36 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: yeah <6:13:36 PM> Trevor - Doctor: is that difficult for you to stay up on top of <6:13:37 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I mean yeah there's so many I don't I mean take two once you know this other one at night this other one three times a day this other one it's it's a lot it's seems like it's almost like 50% of my life <6:13:50 PM> Trevor - Doctor: yeah no I understand that and how complex that could be is there something that you think could be changed or what do you think could be changed <6:13:59 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I mean <6:14:11 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: and less pills <6:14:18 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: a really I think <6:14:23 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: just having you know an easier like schedule of taking medications so I don't have to <6:14:30 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: up my day to take them in the middle of the day at night things like that <6:14:31 PM> Trevor - Doctor: mm-hmm <6:14:36 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay so Alex if there were some options taking a look at your medication list where we could change some things around so that <6:14:46 PM> Trevor - Doctor: maybe you are taking a less number of pills would you be willing to consider that <6:14:50 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: yeah I mean yeah <6:14:55 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: and I was I mean I was taking the medications it just got too much <6:14:56 PM> Trevor - Doctor: okay <6:15:00 PM> Trevor - Doctor: and what medications are causing you <6:15:02 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I I don't <6:15:03 PM> Trevor - Doctor: and most trouble <6:15:08 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I don't know what their names are forget their names but <6:15:13 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: you know <6:15:13 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: on the ones I'm taking three times a day <6:15:16 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: um <6:15:16 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: and <6:15:18 PM> Alex Johnston - patient: I'll forget Doses and everything and it's just too much continues to try to remember and take all these medications throughout the day <6:15:19 PM> Angie Castle: oh okay I'm gonna jump in and stop you ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at May 7, 2025, 6:15:30 PM
