Patient: yeah <3:28:51 PM> Ryan - Patient: I mean lightning he's a he's a great kid he's just been <3:28:58 PM> Ryan - Patient: take kind of difficult to parent at times and I'm kind of worried about his his just like social life as well <3:29:08 PM> Ryan - Patient: just <3:29:08 PM> Ryan - Patient: I know he's only eight but like don't want anything bad like any bad things to <3:29:11 PM> Andrew - Doctor: here do you feel like he's getting along with other kids <3:29:16 PM> Ryan - Patient: take hold <3:29:17 PM> Ryan - Patient: he used to a lot now he seems a little bit more to himself <3:29:30 PM> Andrew - Doctor: wow so I hear you you're kind of concerned with some of his Social Development tell me about <3:29:30 PM> Andrew - Doctor: what <3:29:31 PM> Ryan - Patient: even like <3:29:34 PM> Ryan - Patient: he's been made fun of by some some other kids and I think that's kind of <3:29:34 PM> Ryan - Patient: has <3:29:39 PM> Ryan - Patient: has an influence over that <3:29:42 PM> Ryan - Patient: yeah the the things that <3:29:52 PM> Andrew - Doctor: kids are making fun of him about <3:29:57 PM> Andrew - Doctor: how do you feel about his weight <3:29:59 PM> Ryan - Patient: that have been going on like he's been made fun of his his way like obviously he's larger than most kids <3:30:06 PM> Ryan - Patient: and yeah I think he's just gotten self-conscious about it <3:30:12 PM> Ryan - Patient: I mean <3:30:12 PM> Ryan - Patient: uh <3:30:19 PM> Ryan - Patient: I'm worried that <3:30:23 PM> Ryan - Patient: that he might be getting like a negative body it like <3:30:27 PM> Ryan - Patient: image from it like I I worry for their mental health I think I mean obviously like there's some improvement that's gonna be made but I mean he's just a kid like <3:30:32 PM> Andrew - Doctor: it sounds like you have some worries about what is going on with both his Social Development and his physical development and you said that you feel like there's some room for improvement what do you think can be done to maybe work on this a little bit <3:30:40 PM> Ryan - Patient: well um I mean like any kid he's like a picky eater and like he'll probably just grow out of it and <3:30:59 PM> Andrew - Doctor: business <3:31:12 PM> Ryan - Patient: like he he's active like a lot of kids so maybe it's just not like growing into his body <3:31:18 PM> Andrew - Doctor: oh yeah so you said he's at not as active as other kids what kind of activity is he getting <3:31:19 PM> Ryan - Patient: yeah he I mean recently he's been staying in more even though like it's the start of summer but he used to just like <3:31:19 PM> Ryan - Patient: spend <3:31:28 PM> Andrew - Doctor: it <3:31:38 PM> Ryan - Patient: days outside with with the neighborhood kids and <3:31:44 PM> Ryan - Patient: like any any old kid like <3:31:47 PM> Ryan - Patient: yeah they got to burn that energy off so lately he's been kind of <3:31:48 PM> Andrew - Doctor: here so it seems like he used to be a pretty active kid and now his activity has decreased <3:31:54 PM> Ryan - Patient: yeah less motivated for that it seems <3:32:06 PM> Andrew - Doctor: um do feel like this might be because of his interaction with this friends <3:32:07 PM> Ryan - Patient: oh yeah that's what I would guess like he he just doesn't want to <3:32:12 PM> Andrew - Doctor: here <3:32:17 PM> Ryan - Patient: um <3:32:18 PM> Andrew - Doctor: yeah how do you feel <3:32:19 PM> Ryan - Patient: deal with the negativity and <3:32:22 PM> Ryan - Patient: I mean I've talked to some of their parents about it already but <3:32:27 PM> Andrew - Doctor: you might be able to address this situation with some of the kids <3:32:41 PM> Ryan - Patient: like I don't know all the families and kids are all the kids at school so I it's not like I can talk to all of them <3:32:46 PM> Andrew - Doctor: do you think that or tell me how you think the families have taken the conversations you've had with them <3:32:49 PM> Ryan - Patient: um and then yeah I talked to lightning about it he seems to just like blow it off I can tell it's <3:32:57 PM> Ryan - Patient: bothers him <3:32:59 PM> Ryan - Patient: uh <3:33:12 PM> Ryan - Patient: yeah some of them say they'll they'll chat with with their kids about it and they'll empathize and I think other ones kind of even blow it off they don't see it as a big issue they're like kids will be kids and <3:33:23 PM> Andrew - Doctor: yeah what kinds of exercise you and lightning do together <3:33:31 PM> Ryan - Patient: not really thinking about how am I impact others <3:33:35 PM> Ryan - Patient: oh well <3:33:45 PM> Ryan - Patient: I guess we don't do a whole whole lot so that I suppose that's something that I can try to fit into the schedule a little more so now that he has time off school I mean it's it's difficult with work and like I don't have time to make like a lot of <3:34:01 PM> Ryan - Patient: like a lot of meals sometimes so like <3:34:06 PM> Ryan - Patient: but it would probably be important to I do something <3:34:13 PM> Ryan - Patient: I haven't really <3:34:14 PM> Andrew - Doctor: it sounds like you have already kind of reflected and found ways that maybe you can contribute to helping him with those exercise I hear you say that meals are hard tell me more about that <3:34:15 PM> Ryan - Patient: kind of thought of that just because it's life's been busy <3:34:20 PM> Ryan - Patient: yeah I mean like I said earlier like he he's a really picky child and like <3:34:33 PM> Andrew - Doctor: for <3:34:41 PM> Ryan - Patient: sometimes like it has beat you can be really tough to deal with if <3:34:41 PM> Ryan - Patient: we're <3:34:47 PM> Ryan - Patient: like <3:34:49 PM> Ryan - Patient: able to find a meal that he likes so he'll throw these temper tantrums that we call thunderstorms and like that's just like a whole nother thing to like deal with in the day and otherwise like because <3:35:00 PM> Andrew - Doctor: should <3:35:06 PM> Ryan - Patient: both <3:35:09 PM> Ryan - Patient: both of our the parents like we both have jobs and it's can be fine hard to like make those like fresh meals so we do a lot of like pre-made kind of stuff but even then it it's a narrow diet for for lightning <3:35:24 PM> Paul Hershberger: I'll stop you here <3:35:26 PM> Ryan - Patient: mmm <3:35:26 PM> Andrew - Doctor: what kind of kinds of meals have you found that are both easy for him or easy for you to make with you know limited time but also that might give him some nutritional value that he likes <3:35:43 PM> Paul Hershberger: all right Andrea let's hear your thoughts ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jun 2, 2025, 3:35:54 PM
