Doctor joined the conference <1:49:41 PM> Eni - Patient joined the conference <1:49:46 PM> Nick - Doctor: all right any um now that we've gone through Jacobs overall physical and health why don't you tell me a little bit about how you feel about today's visit <1:50:01 PM> Eni - Patient: um I feel good I feel like you know <1:50:06 PM> Eni - Patient: um he has a good weight I was wearing that he'd be underweight <1:50:08 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:50:11 PM> Eni - Patient: so I just want him to eat <1:50:12 PM> Nick - Doctor: mmm <1:50:17 PM> Nick - Doctor: tell me about any concerns that you might have <1:50:21 PM> Eni - Patient: well like you know the only thing is that I do worry about him eating enough that's why he's like as long as he eats I'm happy but I you know I I do worry about like his connections with kids at school um just because like sometimes are mean to him <1:50:21 PM> Eni - Patient: so <1:50:22 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:50:33 PM> Nick - Doctor: one <1:50:38 PM> Nick - Doctor: here <1:50:41 PM> Eni - Patient: yeah <1:50:42 PM> Nick - Doctor: it the kids at school are mean to him <1:50:44 PM> Eni - Patient: yeah <1:50:44 PM> Nick - Doctor: hmm <1:50:46 PM> Eni - Patient: <1:50:46 PM> Eni - Patient: he just came home and just you know told me that they were making fun of him because of his weight <1:50:47 PM> Nick - Doctor: tell me more about that <1:50:50 PM> Nick - Doctor: mmm <1:50:57 PM> Eni - Patient: I just told him you know hey everybody has made differently but like I don't know how much we struggle for him to eat because he's a very picky eater <1:51:05 PM> Nick - Doctor: mmm <1:51:08 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:51:11 PM> Nick - Doctor: what kinds of things is Jacob eating at home <1:51:18 PM> Eni - Patient: well like I'll try to have him eat like broccoli or his carrots and he's just not having it so then he'll just get it from the table and kind of like cry so it's like okay then I'll just give him something and he like loves those like peanut butter and jelly sound which is I'll give him that <1:51:18 PM> Nick - Doctor: yeah <1:51:35 PM> Eni - Patient: um he loves mac and cheese so I'm just happy he's eating <1:51:38 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm how do you feel about <1:51:42 PM> Eni - Patient: well <1:51:45 PM> Nick - Doctor: of food that he is eating <1:51:51 PM> Eni - Patient: and I I would rather he eat but the carrots and broccoli but as a mom what can I do right as long as he eats something versus having an empty stomach <1:52:03 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:52:08 PM> Nick - Doctor: is it <1:52:08 PM> Nick - Doctor: remind me do you have any other children right now or <1:52:13 PM> Eni - Patient: he's my only kid <1:52:13 PM> Nick - Doctor: State just take up <1:52:18 PM> Nick - Doctor: you know how would you <1:52:21 PM> Nick - Doctor: feel about you know envisioning a world in which Jacob kind of continued eating the same diet that he is eating how do you envision that future <1:52:24 PM> Eni - Patient: um <1:52:37 PM> Eni - Patient: well I would hope that as he gets older he'll just have more of a variety of foods you know so I think right now just as he's developing and getting you know these are like the critical years where he should be eating I would hope that as time goes on um he'll just put value into like okay this is this is why we have to eat like fruits and vegetables and have him make those choices but I feel like right now I'm just kind of at a standstill because he's not eating enough then you know that's my concern <1:52:43 PM> Nick - Doctor: okay <1:52:45 PM> Nick - Doctor: Jesus <1:52:51 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:53:02 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:53:04 PM> Nick - Doctor: yeah <1:53:17 PM> Nick - Doctor: and <1:53:20 PM> Nick - Doctor: you know thinking about <1:53:23 PM> Nick - Doctor: situation in which he isn't eating enough what do you think that looks like for both him and you <1:53:27 PM> Eni - Patient: like if he's not eating enough like I um I'm just afraid that he won't grow and not like you'll have difficulty like in school I can like a learning ability or not have the energy um and you know it just read about all these like babies that are <1:53:33 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:53:47 PM> Eni - Patient: are like you know like low birth weight and so he was like a tiny baby so like I feel like he needs to eat so that um <1:53:52 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:53:57 PM> Eni - Patient: kind of want to make up for that I guess yeah <1:53:57 PM> Nick - Doctor: yeah okay <1:54:01 PM> Nick - Doctor: and <1:54:03 PM> Nick - Doctor: you know imagining a world and which <1:54:07 PM> Nick - Doctor: you continues eating the same diet that he is eating you know for a number of years what do you think that looks like as well <1:54:07 PM> Eni - Patient: okay yeah well long term no I would not want him to be on a mac and cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches <1:54:18 PM> Nick - Doctor: here that's <1:54:23 PM> Eni - Patient: know like I guess that wouldn't be good <1:54:25 PM> Nick - Doctor: and <1:54:27 PM> Eni - Patient: bad well I introduced like the vegetables like one at a time and that just didn't seem to work so <1:54:29 PM> Nick - Doctor: and <1:54:31 PM> Nick - Doctor: what do you imagine the steps it would take you know to move him away from the mac and cheese and the peanut butter jelly sandwiches <1:54:45 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:54:49 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:54:53 PM> Eni - Patient: maybe and let me think maybe if I do a peanut butter and jelly with a piece of broccoli I don't know it doesn't seem to exciting but maybe something like that <1:55:03 PM> Eni - Patient: kind of mix it up <1:55:03 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:55:09 PM> Nick - Doctor: on a scale of zero to ten how ready do you think Jacob would be to like start eating more <1:55:13 PM> Eni - Patient: all right now on a saving he's like a two <1:55:17 PM> Nick - Doctor: vegetables and not kind of steer away from the diet that he's on <1:55:22 PM> Nick - Doctor: how to tell <1:55:27 PM> Nick - Doctor: and where do you think you're on on the scale of like wanting to move him to a more <1:55:27 PM> Eni - Patient: PBS 6 just because like <1:55:34 PM> Nick - Doctor: balanced <1:55:35 PM> Nick - Doctor: diet <1:55:37 PM> Nick - Doctor: effects <1:55:42 PM> Eni - Patient: before it was struggling to get him to eat anything and now it's like he's eating something and yeah it might not be the healthiest but it's like he's eating so <1:55:49 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:55:52 PM> Eni - Patient: I would say I'm at a six whereas before I probably would have been attitude all so just because now I know he's eating <1:55:53 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:55:59 PM> Nick - Doctor: okay <1:55:59 PM> Nick - Doctor: so <1:56:02 PM> Nick - Doctor: would what do you think change for you from that too to sex <1:56:07 PM> Nick - Doctor: just that he's eating <1:56:07 PM> Eni - Patient: I think <1:56:09 PM> Eni - Patient: seen him yeah and then um just kind of like <1:56:10 PM> Nick - Doctor: other <1:56:11 PM> Nick - Doctor: mm-hmm yeah <1:56:16 PM> Eni - Patient: even reaching out for snacks maybe not the healthiest snacks but reaching out whereas before when I was just trying to give him <1:56:24 PM> Eni - Patient: healthy he was just not eating at all you know and so that kind of concerned me <1:56:30 PM> Nick - Doctor: I guess one last question I'll ask what do you think would get you from the six to the 10 of being ready to move him to a better diet <1:56:30 PM> Paul Hershberger: here <1:56:35 PM> Eni - Patient: well I'm thinking if I tried that mixing up some of the like <1:56:37 PM> Paul Hershberger: okay ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jun 3, 2025, 1:56:55 PM
