Doctor joined the conference <3:11:44 PM> Paul - Patient joined the conference <3:11:45 PM> Reba - Doctor: okay so um what I've been hearing is you're really frustrated with kind of the amount of medications you're taking <3:11:53 PM> Paul - Patient: yeah it seems like pill after pill and <3:11:53 PM> Paul - Patient: you know <3:12:11 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know what you're planning to do today but seems like many times when I come into <3:12:16 PM> Paul - Patient: see you it's another medication and <3:12:19 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah it can be really frustrating especially kind of remembering to take them out and just kind of amount of time that takes for you <3:12:20 PM> Paul - Patient: you know I feel like I'm just <3:12:23 PM> Paul - Patient: supposed to be pills in my mouth all day <3:12:27 PM> Paul - Patient: yeah I <3:12:37 PM> Paul - Patient: and I'm you know sometimes I wonder are they really even helping so it's like why am I doing this <3:12:41 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah for sure I totally get that frustration what do you think about them helping you <3:12:50 PM> Paul - Patient: um well I can't say most of the time I feel all that different whether I've taken it or not <3:13:05 PM> Paul - Patient: in fact sometimes sometimes I must say I feel a little better if I don't take them <3:13:11 PM> Paul - Patient: so it makes me wonder well <3:13:14 PM> Paul - Patient: if I feel better when I'm not taking them maybe I shouldn't even be taking them <3:13:15 PM> Reba - Doctor: so tell me a little bit more about what you mean by you feel better not taking them <3:13:28 PM> Paul - Patient: you know I can't say it's <3:13:31 PM> Paul - Patient: killing dizziness but I think it's what those <3:13:36 PM> Paul - Patient: I think it's I think I don't know I don't pay that close attention but I think it might be one that I'm taking from my blood pressure it's like <3:13:44 PM> Paul - Patient: just <3:13:47 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know woozy or something it's like if I don't take it <3:13:51 PM> Paul - Patient: so I don't know if it's because my blood pressure is lower and I'm accustomed to it being I don't know but <3:13:57 PM> Paul - Patient: and and then and then there's one that I know if I take it I have to to pee a lot more so <3:14:05 PM> Paul - Patient: in fact sometimes <3:14:08 PM> Paul - Patient: if I'm no I'm going to be out doing something I might I just I'm not gonna take that one today I don't want to have to be finding a bathroom all the time <3:14:16 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah that's definitely hard when that kind of is interfering with your life like that <3:14:18 PM> Paul - Patient: here yeah so <3:14:28 PM> Paul - Patient: so anyway that's why I'm frustrated it's <3:14:31 PM> Paul - Patient: so many <3:14:33 PM> Paul - Patient: I'd rather it's not have to take <3:14:37 PM> Paul - Patient: any pills at all but not as many <3:14:39 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:14:40 PM> Paul - Patient: you may not take them at all <3:14:41 PM> Reba - Doctor: what do you think would happen if you end up not taking kind of those medications <3:14:46 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:14:49 PM> Paul - Patient: well um <3:14:55 PM> Paul - Patient: for a while I guess I think I would feel better <3:14:59 PM> Paul - Patient: but I suppose over time that would be good because my health would get worse <3:15:05 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah and by a health would get worse what do you kind of mean by that <3:15:08 PM> Paul - Patient: um <3:15:15 PM> Paul - Patient: up I suppose you know you've told me that things that can happen with diabetes or <3:15:27 PM> Paul - Patient: blood pressure so <3:15:30 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know I suppose I would start to get <3:15:33 PM> Paul - Patient: or maybe would get some complications like <3:15:37 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know with diabetes you've talked it can affect somebody's eyes or <3:15:42 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah or those things that typically kind of concern you <3:15:42 PM> Paul - Patient: I think you've said that that can increase somebody's risk for a heart attack too <3:15:56 PM> Paul - Patient: well yeah I don't want to get any of that but so <3:16:02 PM> Paul - Patient: the way I feel now I don't feel like I'm <3:16:05 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:16:05 PM> Paul - Patient: close to that <3:16:08 PM> Paul - Patient: yeah I guess if I don't take them at all <3:16:08 PM> Reba - Doctor: what other ways do you think <3:16:14 PM> Reba - Doctor: you may kind of <3:16:16 PM> Reba - Doctor: change if you don't take those medications <3:16:26 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know I guess I would hope you tell me when <3:16:32 PM> Paul - Patient: my health is getting <3:16:33 PM> Reba - Doctor: here <3:16:34 PM> Paul - Patient: closer to some of those things happening and <3:16:37 PM> Paul - Patient: maybe then I'd be more willing to take the meds <3:16:40 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:16:41 PM> Paul - Patient: um I suppose you're talking about diet and exercise <3:16:41 PM> Reba - Doctor: do you think or is there anything that you could do <3:16:45 PM> Reba - Doctor: um instead of taking the medications that you think make kind of decrease this frustration for you <3:17:04 PM> Paul - Patient: you know <3:17:08 PM> Paul - Patient: I <3:17:11 PM> Paul - Patient: it <3:17:11 PM> Paul - Patient: I quit drinking some years ago and <3:17:14 PM> Paul - Patient: was younger I smoked and I gave that up to its kind of like eating what I want <3:17:20 PM> Paul - Patient: is something I enjoy and <3:17:24 PM> Paul - Patient: so <3:17:26 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know <3:17:26 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:17:28 PM> Paul - Patient: I would like to have more than just green stuff on my plate <3:17:36 PM> Reba - Doctor: there's definitely ways you can kind of find more of the more than just the green stuff <3:17:43 PM> Reba - Doctor: but what do you think about kind of looking at other <3:17:43 PM> Reba - Doctor: like <3:17:47 PM> Reba - Doctor: foods that you may not have thought of before <3:17:52 PM> Paul - Patient: I I don't know I guess I've I'm not all that convinced that <3:17:59 PM> Paul - Patient: I <3:18:02 PM> Paul - Patient: could make enough change in what I'm eating that that would really have much impact on my health <3:18:07 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:18:08 PM> Paul - Patient: I mean I see other people <3:18:10 PM> Paul - Patient: it seemed like they what they want <3:18:13 PM> Paul - Patient: the you know bad things aren't happening to them <3:18:17 PM> Reba - Doctor: mm <3:18:19 PM> Reba - Doctor: have do you know anyone or have you seen anyone who has kind of <3:18:24 PM> Reba - Doctor: gone through a diet changed to kind of get off any medications is that something you've seen <3:18:34 PM> Paul - Patient: it's not I don't know that I know anybody to get off medications I know <3:18:41 PM> Paul - Patient: actually had some friends that have <3:18:45 PM> Paul - Patient: started taking one of these new <3:18:50 PM> Paul - Patient: diet drugs and have lost some weight that way <3:18:51 PM> Reba - Doctor: what do you think about that <3:18:54 PM> Paul - Patient: well I like I said I don't want to take medication and I think those are ones you have to <3:18:56 PM> Reba - Doctor: all <3:18:56 PM> Reba - Doctor: right <3:19:05 PM> Reba - Doctor: mm-hmm <3:19:06 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know give yourself a shot or something <3:19:11 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know about that <3:19:14 PM> Paul - Patient: I'd rather not have to do that <3:19:16 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:19:17 PM> Paul - Patient: you mean <3:19:18 PM> Reba - Doctor: what are some other ways you think you could <3:19:21 PM> Reba - Doctor: kind of have some of those similar effects <3:19:25 PM> Reba - Doctor: without taking the medication <3:19:27 PM> Paul - Patient: well if I'm not <3:19:31 PM> Paul - Patient: willing to do diet then I guess it's exercise <3:19:36 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know <3:19:38 PM> Paul - Patient: for that to be comfortable I need to lose weight and <3:19:43 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know I think I'd have to exercise a whole lot to lose much weight <3:19:49 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know that sounds harder than <3:19:53 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah it's a it can all be definitely very challenging is there kind of any part of it that's kind of <3:19:54 PM> Paul - Patient: taking medication <3:20:04 PM> Reba - Doctor: at the Forefront of your mind that you're most kind of thinking about <3:20:12 PM> Paul - Patient: yeah I not not really <3:20:17 PM> Paul - Patient: like I said I <3:20:22 PM> Paul - Patient: it's not like I feel bad right now so <3:20:25 PM> Paul - Patient: you know if I did then I'd probably be <3:20:31 PM> Paul - Patient: feel more like I do need to take these medications <3:20:34 PM> Reba - Doctor: he's not so you kind of mentioned before that like it kind of concerned you to kind of get all those side effects of like diabetes and hypertension down the line how is that kind of make you think about <3:20:49 PM> Reba - Doctor: been up with your medications or making any changes <3:20:56 PM> Paul - Patient: well I like I said I don't want those things to eventually happen I guess some things are going to happen when I get older anyway but <3:21:07 PM> Paul - Patient: I don't know I guess I don't feel like I'm <3:21:10 PM> Paul - Patient: area <3:21:11 PM> Reba - Doctor: yeah <3:21:11 PM> Paul - Patient: we'll stop here <3:21:13 PM> Reba - Doctor: um okay <3:21:20 PM> Paul -
