Patient joined the conference <5:31:40 PM> Paul Hershberger joined the conference <5:31:40 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor joined the conference <5:31:41 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: so I'm hearing that there's some frustration around the number of medications that you're currently prescribed <5:31:41 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I I mean I I know every time I come in here you guys give me a new medication to take you know I take one for a condition and then I come in and I tell you I've got a side effect and then I get another medication for a side effect and <5:32:02 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay <5:32:16 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you know this list is just too long and most days I don't even feel like taking these <5:32:21 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: up or just don't take them <5:32:24 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: what how do you do when you don't feel like taking them <5:32:28 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay <5:32:30 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: here I mean you know I I know that if <5:32:33 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: um are you worried about anything happening if you don't take them <5:32:38 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: how do you feel better <5:32:42 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you know I don't take them at all like I might end up with like a heart attack or a stroke but honestly on the days I don't take them sometimes I feel better <5:32:51 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah you know like that one you know pill that I take that makes me pee all the time I'm not constantly running to the bathroom you know I I feel like you know I take that medication for my blood pressure and you know I don't I don't feel anything when I take it and when I don't take it sometimes the all taken all those medicines makes my stomach hurt <5:32:54 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: yeah <5:33:18 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: there are quite a few medications you know <5:33:18 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: and <5:33:23 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: talked about some of the reasons you took on like for high blood pressure does having high blood pressure were you in any way <5:33:29 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: I mean not really not until I guess my chest would start to hurt or you know unless you told me I was gonna have a heart attack but I just don't feel like I'm not far along yet <5:33:40 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay <5:33:44 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I suppose if like I was getting kind of short of breath or you know if I was developing some chest pain <5:33:45 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: at what point <5:33:45 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: when you <5:33:47 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: a far along at what point would you then be worried enough that you would want to take them <5:33:54 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: yeah have you gotten those symptoms before <5:34:01 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: but like I would maybe feel more likely to take those medications on a regular basis then <5:34:07 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: um you know if it's been real warm outside and I've been out gardening and bent over a lot sometimes I feel that way but <5:34:19 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you know I I try to only go out and Garden in the evenings when it's a little bit cooler <5:34:27 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: when you're you know <5:34:29 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: kind of waiting you know to take them until it gets worse or your symptoms get worse then at the point when you take them then do you feel like they would still be just as effective <5:34:38 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: I mean I I would think that you know when I would take those they would make my blood pressure come down or bring my sugars down when I would take them <5:34:42 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: yeah are you worried about anything happening in between that <5:34:51 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: I mean maybe I mean I guess those conditions will be kind of getting worse if I'm not taking those medicines <5:34:55 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: if you wait <5:35:00 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: they might <5:35:09 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: how do you feel about that <5:35:11 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I mean I <5:35:12 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: yeah it's part of the tricky part of chronic conditions <5:35:15 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: it's really hard to be you know have this long list of <5:35:20 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: um medications and this long list of diagnosis and you know I I really wish a lot of them would just go away you know I I don't like having these but it feels like even if I take the medicine it's not like the condition goes away <5:35:42 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: you feel like there's anything you could do to help alleviate some of these chronic conditions in your day-to-day <5:35:50 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: um you know I know with my blood sugar I know you know I went and saw that diabetes educator and you know she told me I could eat a little better and that would help me manage my sugar <5:35:50 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay <5:36:02 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: um I mean if it meant I didn't have to take as much medicine like <5:36:02 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you know <5:36:04 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: what are your thoughts on eating a little better <5:36:13 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: it is summertime I do tend to eat you know more fruits and vegetables in the summer I think that's definitely something I could focus on <5:36:16 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay <5:36:21 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I could probably start doing that maybe cut out you know some of the baking I've been doing and not have quite so many treats around the house <5:36:22 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: how motivated are you to make those changes <5:36:27 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: mm-hmm those are great changes that we could make <5:36:41 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: um <5:36:41 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: um and then in terms of like movement how about your movement <5:36:46 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: yeah have you tried these things before <5:36:48 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I mean I like I said I really wait till it's cooler to go outside and garden <5:36:54 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: but you know my I got a little doll and you know I I could probably take him out for a walk in the mornings before it starts to get too warm out <5:37:05 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: it's not really my my husband used to take the dog for a walk but he he passed away a few years ago so it's it's just me and you know I bet you know the dog would probably like to go for a walk more than what I'm taking him <5:37:08 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: mm-hmm yeah <5:37:26 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: stuff me you know a good encouragement to go on walks and make these like daily life changes <5:37:33 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: how do you feel you would be able to sustain that <5:37:35 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I don't know you know I I feel like maybe once it would get cold I would probably give up one going outside <5:37:37 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay are there other ways that you could get movement besides going outside <5:37:44 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: um you know I don't have none of that like gym equipment or anything at my house so <5:37:49 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: I don't think that's true <5:37:56 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: I don't I don't know I feel like an old lady like me like I probably you know they want to see me at the gym <5:38:07 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: we love everyone at the gym <5:38:10 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: and it's always good to be out there <5:38:12 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: um <5:38:14 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: in terms of activity you know there are always options that you could do at home how do you feel about that <5:38:22 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: I used to <5:38:22 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: yeah I mean <5:38:24 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: watch some of those videos you know when I was younger you know some of those Jazzercise videos but I don't know that I could get up and move in like that but I might be able to <5:38:35 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you know <5:38:36 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: used to get a few laps around my house or <5:38:40 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you know <5:38:41 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: maybe maybe a little program or something you know the physical therapist in town could give me <5:38:42 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: he <5:38:48 PM> Angie Castle - Patient: you're so muted but <5:38:49 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay <5:38:50 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here yeah sorry <5:38:54 PM> Paul Hershberger: let's hear your thoughts Lillian <5:38:55 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: um <5:38:57 PM> Paul Hershberger: it's time <5:38:59 PM> Paul Hershberger: okay how so <5:39:00 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: I thought this was better than the last one <5:39:04 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: I feel like could get could kind of like identify like okay the issues just not wanting to take her meds there's a lot of them okay what are we frustrated about that <5:39:14 PM> Lillian Nguyen - Doctor: okay oh refresher because we have to take them okay there's other is there ways to diminish that let's focus on that I don't know I thought this was a better path of the way that we're thinking <5:39:24 PM> Paul Hershberger: okay <5:39:26 PM> Lillian Nguyen -
