Doctor joined the conference <2:06:24 PM> Paul Hershberger joined the conference <2:06:24 PM> Brandon - Patient joined the conference <2:06:24 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay Brandon So based on from what we're talking about today it seems that <2:06:24 PM> Brandon - Patient: yeah I am <2:06:42 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: kind of frustrated with the non-medication that we're giving you <2:06:47 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay <2:06:47 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: um <2:06:49 PM> Brandon - Patient: oh yeah so you know I'm on you know 15 17 medications I have to take them multiple times a day at different times of the day some some you know eighty sevens I'm a one some at 7 at night it's just kind of it's getting to be a lot and you know sometimes they all run out at different times so I'm constantly going to the pharmacy and picking them up and you know it's it's just getting annoying <2:06:51 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: so can you tell me more about <2:06:53 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: the how do you feel about that <2:06:57 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: yes I can understand it can be <2:07:22 PM> Brandon - Patient: um you know the doctors tell me <2:07:29 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: quite frustrating to manage a bunch of different medications at one time <2:07:34 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: tell me <2:07:42 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: you tell me <2:07:46 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: about why you think you're on so many medications <2:07:54 PM> Brandon - Patient: know my sugar is high so take this you know you have a high risk of a heart attack so take this you know I feel like I never get too much of an explanation on why but <2:08:05 PM> Brandon - Patient: I've got all these diagnoses and every new one seems like it's adding three or four medications <2:08:10 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay so it seems that with what you bring diagnosed with he's adding the medications but <2:08:19 PM> Brandon - Patient: yeah I guess not I guess you know <2:08:23 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: you don't have a true understanding of what's going on <2:08:27 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay <2:08:30 PM> Brandon - Patient: everything <2:08:30 PM> Brandon - Patient: the yeah <2:08:34 PM> Brandon - Patient: run so fast in medicine I guess there's not really enough time to sit down and explain each of these <2:08:40 PM> Brandon - Patient: um so I have you know I have diabetes they tell me so my sugar is high <2:08:40 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: what <2:08:40 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay so I guess we can start we can talk a little bit more about that so can you tell me so just tell me about <2:08:48 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: your understanding of it is of what you've been diagnosed with <2:08:52 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay so it seems that <2:08:58 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess that can lead to you know heart attacks something like that I have <2:09:04 PM> Brandon - Patient: you know hi hi <2:09:08 PM> Brandon - Patient: ads and cholesterol so I'm on some medications for that seems like everything is raising my risk for heart attack but you know nobody I know is having a heart attack nobody in my family has had a heart attack I feel okay you know <2:09:22 PM> Brandon - Patient: so I'm just kind of like <2:09:24 PM> Brandon - Patient: why am I taking all of this you know <2:09:34 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: kind of confused about you know you haven't seen a heart attack yet you don't have you don't feel anything of the heart attack that's coming on and you're just all these medications and that that's predicting preventing something that hasn't happened yet <2:09:49 PM> Brandon - Patient: exactly <2:09:52 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay <2:09:53 PM> Brandon - Patient: um you know I'm getting older and 16 now so I feel like <2:09:54 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: so <2:09:55 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: with your chronic conditions <2:09:58 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: can you tell me about what you think how you think your body is changing <2:10:04 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: this current point <2:10:06 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay yeah the medication is good <2:10:14 PM> Brandon - Patient: my body's aging I feel like more than my brain is I feel younger but <2:10:20 PM> Brandon - Patient: know I feel older you know what I'm saying my brain feels Young <2:10:25 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess you know I can't I can't go out and walk as much I don't get out of the house as much <2:10:33 PM> Brandon - Patient: you know I guess I guess that's an effecting <2:10:33 PM> Brandon - Patient: you know <2:10:38 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess <2:10:38 PM> Brandon - Patient: heart <2:10:39 PM> Brandon - Patient: heart's not as strong as it used to be my lungs I guess don't <2:10:43 PM> Brandon - Patient: don't <2:10:45 PM> Brandon - Patient: uh get as much air as they used to <2:10:49 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess that that could be <2:10:51 PM> Brandon - Patient: what the medications are helping with <2:10:54 PM> Brandon - Patient: um you know I really think it's mostly due to age you know <2:11:00 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: what are your thoughts on that kind of feeling that you're slowing down <2:11:12 PM> Brandon - Patient: because it's kind of in a gradual thing since I've been aging and <2:11:16 PM> Brandon - Patient: yeah which kind of makes me you know <2:11:20 PM> Brandon - Patient: I want to take the medications like we were saying before and <2:11:24 PM> Brandon - Patient: sometimes I don't sometimes I do you know <2:11:25 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: do you think that all your chronic conditions are <2:11:28 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess they could I guess they could like <2:11:39 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: accelerating that slowing down that a feeling of being older <2:11:44 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay and <2:11:47 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess <2:11:47 PM> Brandon - Patient: you know they did say there was some problems with my heart and I guess that that could lead to me being a little slower and some stuff with my lungs I guess that could <2:11:58 PM> Brandon - Patient: definitely could be be playing into that <2:12:01 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess it just you know I can't go hang out with my kids or play with my grandkids as much as I'd like to I'd like to go to their baseball games you know run around the yard with them <2:12:05 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: and you <2:12:07 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: able to walk around bit more able to do the activities you're used to used to be able to do <2:12:12 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: how <2:12:12 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: how does that <2:12:17 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: affecting you what are your thoughts on not being able to do what you used to do <2:12:31 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay <2:12:36 PM> Brandon - Patient: you know <2:12:36 PM> Brandon - Patient: thorough baseball but <2:12:38 PM> Brandon - Patient: getting harder and harder these days <2:12:41 PM> Brandon - Patient: I guess five to 10 years I really <2:12:44 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: so with the track that they are on now <2:12:47 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: where do you see yourself and find a 10 years with your activity and how you're feeling <2:12:56 PM> Brandon - Patient: play <2:12:56 PM> Brandon - Patient: could see that I I wouldn't really be able to <2:12:58 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: okay yeah so you want to be able to be around your kids be active be involved <2:12:59 PM> Brandon - Patient: my grandkids are <2:13:01 PM> Brandon - Patient: things outside of the house really much at all <2:13:04 PM> Brandon - Patient: and that's kind of concerning for me <2:13:07 PM> Brandon - Patient: yeah do you think that that could be from like conditions <2:13:16 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: but at the same time this seems like all your chronic conditions are slowing you down to the point that you aren't able to do that <2:13:24 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: um it very well could be yeah <2:13:28 PM> Brandon - Patient: okay <2:13:31 PM> Brandon - Patient: okay <2:13:33 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: yeah and our goal is that with these medications is that you know we try <2:13:33 PM> Brandon - Patient: okay <2:13:40 PM> Quyen Thai - Doctor: prevent that acceleration keep you as active as you possibly can and keep yourself as you can so <2:13:48 PM> Brandon - Patient: yeah it's nice it's nice to have an explanation for <2:13:53 PM> Brandon - Patient: for a little more information on what what these medications are doing ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jun 12, 2025, 2:14:01 PM
