patient joined the conference <2:44:57 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor joined the conference <2:44:58 PM> Elizabeth - patient: um <2:45:03 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: so Elizabeth it looks like everything else on your physical looks good today I would like to talk a little bit about this screening form that you filled out today related to your alcohol consumption what are your thoughts on that <2:45:20 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: okay have you what concerns have you had with your drinking <2:45:22 PM> Elizabeth - patient: you <2:45:22 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I mean I try to limit my alcohol use to just weekends and I feel like I don't have any responsibilities really <2:45:35 PM> Elizabeth - patient: was kind of the Work Hard Play Hard mentality <2:45:40 PM> Elizabeth - patient: and once the weak hits you know I'm back to back to the job <2:45:45 PM> Elizabeth - patient: um I haven't had too many concerns and <2:45:51 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: how do you feel about that <2:45:58 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I mean I'm a little sluggish over the weekend so my wife is like I know me a little bit about you know just not being <2:46:09 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I guess attended or as present during our off time <2:46:16 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I feel like we're both unwinding and I guess you'd be okay for me to like let my hair down a little and relax <2:46:32 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I guess high risk for what exactly <2:46:34 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: how would you feel if I told you that you're drinking according to the screening put you in a high-risk category <2:46:42 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: high risk in terms of future health issues and future safety issues <2:46:51 PM> Elizabeth - patient: mmm <2:46:54 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: someone <2:46:55 PM> Elizabeth - patient: okay <2:46:56 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I mean <2:46:59 PM> Elizabeth - patient: safety <2:47:01 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I could always <2:47:03 PM> Elizabeth - patient: increase you know and I have to drink and drive I've made that mistake a couple of times <2:47:10 PM> Elizabeth - patient: for the most part you know I have a driver like my wife usually drinks less than I do so <2:47:16 PM> Elizabeth - patient: can always just let her drive or Uber and those are easy easy Corrections health <2:47:24 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: yeah at the moment the rest of your health looks okay but <2:47:24 PM> Elizabeth - patient: know I kind of feel like <2:47:27 PM> Elizabeth - patient: how worried about it when I have to worry about it you said I'm pretty good right now right <2:47:39 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: we've seen that when people continue to stay in the high risk area of drinking they tend to develop more health issues in the future what would that look like for you if you did develop a health issue down the road <2:47:59 PM> Elizabeth - patient: here's how it suck <2:48:01 PM> Elizabeth - patient: is having to see the doctor all the time possibly being you know hospitalized or <2:48:09 PM> Elizabeth - patient: um it's not being able to move around the way that I'm used to that would be <2:48:14 PM> Elizabeth - patient: it just depends on like how much of a change are we talking you know like I understand prevention is is great on <2:48:16 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: when would you prefer to <2:48:21 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: combat that future illness would you prefer to wait for it to pop up or would you prefer to combat it before it begins <2:48:30 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: I understand that what if I told you that you didn't have to go cold turkey that we would work together on this as a team over a period of time so it's not right now how on a scale of zero to ten with ten being the most ready to change where would you rate yourself on that scale <2:48:46 PM> Elizabeth - patient: but at the moment I don't feel willing to <2:48:52 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I guess God called turkey if there's no present problem <2:49:07 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I'm a solid five <2:49:17 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: it's all at 5 okay <2:49:23 PM> Elizabeth - patient: um I think a real <2:49:23 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: why what would make that number higher for you <2:49:27 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: oh yeah so like a tangible motivating big incident such as a car accident on the weekend <2:49:32 PM> Elizabeth - patient: a tangible motivator you know <2:49:36 PM> Elizabeth - patient: versus like this could have been <2:49:41 PM> Elizabeth - patient: could be future issues you <2:49:51 PM> Elizabeth - patient: right <2:49:53 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: okay and then does that scare you <2:50:00 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: yeah <2:50:00 PM> Elizabeth - patient: a car accident <2:50:02 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I mean yes but <2:50:03 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: here <2:50:06 PM> Elizabeth - patient: accidents have been kind of sober or <2:50:09 PM> Elizabeth - patient: not sober you know <2:50:13 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: so you rated yourself a 5 out of 10 on the Readiness to change <2:50:13 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: so <2:50:19 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: what is that look like for you if you were to think about maybe making some changes you don't have to do cold turkey what would those changes look like to you <2:50:20 PM> Elizabeth - patient: um I think I could <2:50:28 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: yeah what would that what would that look like in a quantifiable way <2:50:33 PM> Elizabeth - patient: could cut back <2:50:35 PM> Elizabeth - patient: yeah just like drink <2:50:40 PM> Elizabeth - patient: lives <2:50:42 PM> Elizabeth - patient: I remember correctly the <2:50:51 PM> Elizabeth - patient: kind of healthy way to go about it it's like one and now we're something like that just really slow it down <2:50:57 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: here <2:50:59 PM> Elizabeth - patient: and cut myself off <2:51:02 PM> Elizabeth - patient: let me say it three the night rather than <2:51:06 PM> Elizabeth - patient: the usual fire every six <2:51:09 PM> Elizabeth - patient: well it would help the most very um <2:51:09 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: would be <2:51:11 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: would help you the most to remember why you're doing that and to help you meet your goals <2:51:20 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: yeah so some social support would be the best help for you <2:51:27 PM> Elizabeth - patient: any other people know that that's what I'm trying to do you know looking for some accountability in my friends and family <2:51:34 PM> Elizabeth - patient: mm-hmm <2:51:38 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: would that be something that you'd be willing to bring your wife in on and have her help you with that <2:51:39 PM> Elizabeth - patient: yeah I think so she probably be happy about that <2:51:45 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: yeah okay <2:51:50 PM> Elizabeth - patient: yes <2:51:52 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: is this something that we can continue to work on together in the future <2:51:57 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: okay well I think that those are really good changes and really good goals and I understand that you're a 5 out of 10 on the Readiness to change right now but <2:52:11 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: I would like you to kind of reflect on what we talked about in terms of how those consequences might impact you and then what we can do what you said was to incorporate your wife in this process just to cut back and not necessarily to cut cold turkey and so I encourage you to find a reflect on that and then we will see each other again and we can read address Marie re-plan from there <2:52:36 PM> Elizabeth - patient: okay sounds good <2:52:38 PM> Jake Weaver - doctor: thanks Elizabeth ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jul 14, 2025, 2:52:41 PM
