patient: for all fine dealing with all this all the meds that you threw me on <3:46:07 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: right I know you have a lot to have a lot of you know medical conditions going on and we're trying to <3:46:13 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: that's terrible and I certainly don't take them every day I mean the water pill I I'll be peeing every two hours if I take that like you like you want me to and then I'm bruise easy when I'm on the aspirin and then I don't take all of them I pick and choose you get a couple each day <3:46:23 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: Under Wraps <3:46:25 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: how has taken the medication been thus far <3:46:34 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay okay <3:46:48 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I mean my legs are swollen and <3:46:53 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: you <3:46:54 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: your <3:46:54 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: and noted are you having any symptoms from <3:46:58 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: um chronic conditions are you having any issues currently <3:47:03 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:47:08 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I mean that's about it not that I know of <3:47:12 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: the water pill but then I pee every two hours so to do I want swollen legs or do I want to be peeing every two hours <3:47:13 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay so some some legs swelling and <3:47:18 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: do you know a medication is supposed to like help with the legs swelling <3:47:22 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: right right okay so <3:47:29 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: brother <3:47:32 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: you you pick and choose based on the day what kind of Suits You <3:47:41 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: was there a time that you were taking all of your medications as prescribed <3:47:42 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: no probably not I mean the thing is I feel fine you know you guys tell me my sugar is high I don't feel any different you know you tell me my blood pressure I feel fine you tell me I got clogged arteries in my heart I might have some chest pain but you know if I go walk down my mile long driveway I'm going to have chest pain I'm 60 years old you know so I know I got a little extra weight on me but I feel fine I don't I don't see why I need to be taking these medications <3:48:13 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: here <3:48:21 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: and <3:48:22 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I've had a lot less side effects dealing with <3:48:23 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: so if you can continue kind of <3:48:26 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: not taking your medication as needed <3:48:31 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: as prescribed rather and what do you think <3:48:35 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: to look like for you in the future <3:48:39 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:48:42 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: he's from leg swelling but you know probably feel a lot better not being on the medications to be honest with you <3:48:43 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:48:46 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay so maybe we just talked about like one at a time so <3:48:56 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: with the with the legs swelling and <3:48:57 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: the purpose <3:49:01 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: say you stop taking the diuretic all together <3:49:06 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: what is that look like <3:49:08 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: to <3:49:08 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: yeah my legs wouldn't be my legs would still be swollen but you know I'll be able to go <3:49:09 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: in another year or two <3:49:19 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: my club that I like to go to and not feel embarrassed that I got to leave the guys every 15 minutes to go to the bathroom probably feel better during the day because I wouldn't be waking up all night peeing I wouldn't be afraid to take my wife out to dinner you know wouldn't wouldn't worry about going to play with the grandson in the park because there's no bathroom I mean that would be you know <3:49:27 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: here <3:49:41 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: seems like a lot better <3:49:43 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:49:43 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: yeah I don't know I mean I guess I was thinking about it staying the same and probably get a little worse but I'm getting older I mean isn't this just kind of part of growing up and aging and getting old <3:49:46 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: I mean with this one specifically there are different medications that you can always try <3:49:53 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: if it's like making a pee way too much shake it always lower the dose and <3:50:00 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: but that's something we don't know for sure if you're not taking it consistently <3:50:08 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: uh <3:50:10 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: the swelling do you think <3:50:10 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: that <3:50:13 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: to get worse over the years you are you assuming that it would just kind of stay <3:50:19 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: ads me level or wherever it's at currently <3:50:34 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: mmm what if I were to tell you that there are people older than you that are healthy they don't have any chronic conditions and don't actually have any medications that they take on a daily basis what it what are your thoughts on that <3:50:35 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: dollar genetics <3:50:52 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay do you have people other people in your family who have the same conditions as you <3:50:53 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: good genes <3:50:55 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: oh sure my dad died of a heart attack and my mom she had to diabetes I mean this just run to the mill aging from my family <3:51:11 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: yeah and they're 70s I would think <3:51:12 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: how old are your parents when they pass <3:51:15 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:51:20 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: do you have any desire to live past year 70s <3:51:26 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: well I mean we're not going to live forever you know I mean I want to be around for my grandbabies as long as I as I can but you know I'm realistically I got probably 15 more years in me you know and if you start pushing past that you start becoming a burden on everybody else <3:51:30 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: hmm <3:51:39 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:51:42 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I got one right now I got another one on the way <3:51:45 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: and understand you definitely don't want to be a very into your family and but on the flip side you do want to see your grandkids get older <3:51:56 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: how many babies do you have <3:51:59 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay that's exciting <3:52:02 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: a little boy <3:52:05 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: boy or girl on the way <3:52:07 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: all right <3:52:08 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: wow <3:52:09 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: so yeah what are some things that you look forward to doing with your grandkids <3:52:16 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: me right now we like to go to the park when I can and you know he's getting ready to start t-ball here in a couple years and so I'm excited to watch them play some t-ball but <3:52:21 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: grow <3:52:21 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay and so going outside being active with them being able to watch them <3:52:30 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: oh sure yeah absolutely <3:52:40 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: up and <3:52:42 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: those are all desirable things for you <3:52:46 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:52:49 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: well I mean you know I need to be <3:52:50 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: and <3:52:52 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: kind of <3:52:54 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: do you think you need to be in order to <3:52:59 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: eyes the streams <3:53:02 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: she <3:53:07 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: to be healthy but you know I don't think I need to be going to the gym you know be Schwarzenegger to hang out with my grandson you know when I'm when I was young my my grandfather he would real active with us until the last couple years of his life and then he would sit on the couch and we'd hang out with them there and then you know he he passed on but like my grandma now she was in the hospital for what felt like years and we'd have to go see her and she'd be all sick and she wouldn't be feeling good you know our visit would be 30 minutes and I don't want that for my grandkids I don't want them to see me in the hospital sick you know I just want to go and God says it's time <3:53:36 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: okay <3:53:45 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: probably seven or eight you know I mean I think that there's the reasons to go to the hospital but I certainly don't want to be there long term you know dying in a bed where my kids have to come and visit me <3:53:47 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: so if we were kind of <3:53:50 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: place your desire to stay out of the hospital on a scale right one being you don't care if you're in the hospital 10 being you absolutely don't want to be there where would you <3:54:03 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: place that wants <3:54:14 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: mm-hmm <3:54:18 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: right <3:54:20 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: um so a real real hat is I had to stay out of the hospital <3:54:25 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: and <3:54:27 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: if that's the case whatever <3:54:30 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: what are the actions that we get you there like keep you healthy keep you home keep you active able to move around with your grandkids and how do you kind of achieve that <3:54:30 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I mean <3:54:50 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I don't know I just don't go to the hospital be honest with you I come here because I got to get my refills but you know probably taking the meds probably would help with that but my concern is I keep taking these meds I keep getting sicker you guys keep wanting to do more and more and that's what leads to me being in the hospital I don't take any of it I stay out of the hospital <3:54:57 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: mm-hmm <3:55:10 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: That's All She Wrote <3:55:14 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: so <3:55:16 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: I guess I'm a little confused as to why <3:55:21 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: youth you think or seem to believe that taking the medication would keep you out of the hospital <3:55:29 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: it doesn't like taking the medication would avoid the side effects but they also would like that would also avoid the benefits of the medication which is to keep your chronic conditions under control so keep your sugar down keep your fluid level down so that you don't like having to increase swelling and your legs which will also move up to your lungs keep you from having a heart attack because as you stated you have coronary artery disease like it's to manage the conditions that you have so that you don't end up any sick and you already are <3:56:08 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: so what is your understanding as to <3:56:08 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: yeah I see what you're saying doc I mean I probably could Ackerman I don't know maybe it would help in the long run I just don't feel any different on them you know and then I experienced all the side effects from them I pay 200 dollars at the pharmacy every month you know I mean it's just <3:56:11 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: like the benefits of the medication <3:56:27 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: mmm <3:56:29 PM> Elizabeth - doctor: yes yes <3:56:30 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: I don't know you know if I don't take them <3:56:30 PM> Jake Weaver - patient: then ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jul 14, 2025, 3:56:38 PM
