doctor: what concerns do you have about where these Health today <3:45:32 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: oh I mean <3:45:37 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: looks like you got a little bigger not just like <3:45:40 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: height wise but I know that he started to gain more weight than he was before but other than that I think he's doing great like <3:45:43 PM> Marcelo - doctor: it <3:45:51 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: uh <3:45:51 PM> Marcelo - doctor: I know you mentioned him you think he gained a little bit more weight what do you think that happened <3:45:59 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: I just thought it was like a growth spurt I thought that you know this happens to a lot of kids and you know I was reading online and people were saying it was normal so <3:46:10 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: yeah I mean I just thought it was just pointed just normal growth happens to everybody it happened to me when I was a kid so <3:46:15 PM> Marcelo - doctor: second okay um and as a dad I'm sure you do spend a lot of time with with him what's a what seemed like at home what's what is he like to do what are his fun activities what's really like <3:46:27 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: he's been really into like video games recently because we got him one of those new Nintendo switches so it's been doing that a lot <3:46:37 PM> Marcelo - doctor: mm-hmm <3:46:44 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: he used to be more like into sports I had him in Taekwondo for a little bit but then he decided he really didn't like that so that was we stopped at like a year ago and then he has like a he has a <3:46:44 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: he has <3:46:55 PM> Marcelo - doctor: person <3:47:03 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: friends that he spends time with sometimes but I noticed that he stopped hanging out with them recently <3:47:09 PM> Marcelo - doctor: okay <3:47:13 PM> Marcelo - doctor: you ever asked him why he he stopped <3:47:17 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: I think it I think I don't really know particularly but I just know that he's been getting a little bit more upset <3:47:17 PM> Marcelo - doctor: hanging out with his friends or what do you think he stopped taking out with his friends <3:47:31 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: come home by crying sometimes and you know we kind of talked to him about it and from my understanding people are making fun of him because he was a little heavier so so I just told him this stop hanging out with those kids so that's that's what he stopped hanging out with them <3:47:43 PM> Marcelo - doctor: well I can understand that as a parent that can be you know <3:47:52 PM> Marcelo - doctor: trading to see your kid come home crying and and I know you just want the best for him <3:47:59 PM> Marcelo - doctor: and <3:48:01 PM> Marcelo - doctor: you know his friends making fun of him it's also not not ideal and it's it's not a right thing to do and I'm glad you as a father had done some things to change and <3:48:13 PM> Marcelo - doctor: you mentioned a little bit let's Circle back a little bit to you notice him getting a little bit of weight <3:48:21 PM> Marcelo - doctor: what are what are some things at home that you've noticed that he has changed within habits of eating and things like that <3:48:24 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: he's he's always been kind of weird with his eating just because he was really picky and like early on when he was a little kid we tried to introduce a bunch of stuff but eventually it just got really tiring and then he would get really mad if you know he didn't get the things that he wants so we we kind of just stick to the things that he does like and he's been eating those stuff <3:48:24 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: like <3:48:34 PM> Marcelo - doctor: program <3:48:55 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: more but like I said I thought he was just like a growing kid so I was just oh he's eating more and that's the food he likes so that's what we gave him <3:48:58 PM> Marcelo - doctor: and how do you think you know <3:49:09 PM> Marcelo - doctor: playing with him and letting him be the things that he liked how do you think that has impacted not only his physical self but his Emotional Self with regards to his friends and other things like that <3:49:20 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: no I've never really thought about it I mean <3:49:27 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: maybe he feels like he's a <3:49:29 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: a little more in control of things I guess but <3:49:33 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: all right I don't think it really affected the way that he thought about things if that's what you're asking <3:49:38 PM> Marcelo - doctor: and he was a father have you thought about you mentioned that he feels in control have you you as a father have you thought about some some Alternatives or some some things that you can introduce to to try and and change his habits and if so what are some of those alternatives <3:49:41 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: okay <3:49:58 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: well you know you always see people talking about you know losing weight and you know I always thought that was something more like adults focused on I never thought kids would really have to focus on that but <3:50:15 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: you know they always doctors always gonna tell you to exercise and eat better you know I've heard it before never had Dr talk about it for witty though <3:50:21 PM> Marcelo - doctor: mm-hmm well I think witty as a growing child is important to have a well-balanced nutrition and well-balanced activity so he can grow to be a healthy adult like yourself <3:50:38 PM> Marcelo - doctor: have you and you mentioned before he used to like to do Sports have you ever had a conversation have you had what conversations have you had with him about perhaps returning to sport or starting new activities <3:50:45 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: I haven't talked with them about it since I just figured that you know since he was getting out there and hanging out with his friends that they were doing something that was moving around or <3:50:52 PM> Marcelo - doctor: here <3:51:00 PM> Marcelo - doctor: everything <3:51:05 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: like physically active so I haven't talked to him about sports but the reason why he didn't like doing it <3:51:12 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: it was mostly because he just felt like uncomfortable <3:51:17 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: um <3:51:18 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: he he didn't like how <3:51:23 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: like he was perceived by other people <3:51:23 PM> Marcelo - doctor: and what do you mean by how he was perceived by other people <3:51:25 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: just <3:51:25 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: he even noticed to himself that he just felt like he was different than the other kids <3:51:29 PM> Marcelo - doctor: it and <3:51:36 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: yeah <3:51:37 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: but he didn't ever said why though everything <3:51:39 PM> Marcelo - doctor: never so why <3:51:41 PM> Marcelo - doctor: and I know you know some some kids as we start to start transitioning into this kind of a preteen phase they start having ideas about their their body and their and their image and how people perceive them and I think it's important for parents to have those conversations with them and get to know them <3:52:01 PM> Marcelo - doctor: know you meant I like the idea of the other sports but I also want to ask you have you <3:52:08 PM> Marcelo - doctor: what is your take on on perhaps you know you as a dad start introducing some some activities with with witty so that you both can enjoy some time doing some activity or spending time outside or whatever it may be so that both of you guys can can Bond as a dad and a son and can get some activity in together <3:52:14 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: mmm well I see what you're saying I mean I feel like we're kind of beating around the bush but it seems like you know you want me to get Woody to move around a little bit more and you know I I would say I need to move around a little bit too so <3:52:44 PM> Marcelo - doctor: in you know maybe it can start from just you know maybe throwing a ball outside or going to play basketball outside with each other and maybe challenging him to <3:52:44 PM> Marcelo - doctor: to <3:52:50 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: it sounds like it could could work but I don't know how he how much he would want to do it he's kind of been a little standoffish recently <3:52:59 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: okay <3:53:05 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: okay <3:53:10 PM> Marcelo - doctor: the competition with you I know kids love to to compete with one another so I think you would be a fun a fun idea and you talked a little bit briefly about you know his diet and how he feels in control what's with his diet like usually <3:53:21 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: uh <3:53:28 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: lot of pasta because he doesn't like eating like any of the other <3:53:28 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: like <3:53:29 PM> Marcelo - doctor: okay <3:53:33 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: big like grains and stuff like that he loves <3:53:38 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: Doritos and chocolate I mean <3:53:42 PM> Nicholas Sze - patient: she's always like those and she was a little kid so we always just stuck to the ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jul 15, 2025, 3:53:49 PM
