Doctor joined the conference <5:05:37 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient joined the conference <5:05:37 PM> Paul Hershberger joined the conference <5:05:37 PM> John Donnelly joined the conference <5:05:37 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: options <5:05:38 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: yeah I mean I feel pretty fine during the week like I don't really like to drink during the week I like to focus on work family during the week <5:05:47 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: that's <5:05:50 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: all right Mr Spenny I think that wraps up the physical for work I just wanted to talk to you a little bit more about your drinking I know you had mentioned it can you tell me a little bit more about what you're drinking looks like <5:06:18 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I would say during the weekend I prefer just to like let loose have a good time <5:06:21 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay so you're mostly just drinking having a good time letting loose on the weekends <5:06:24 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um I don't really think it interferes with anything but <5:06:28 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: how to drink on the weekends <5:06:30 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: correct <5:06:36 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay about how many drinks are you consuming on the days <5:06:36 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: or <5:06:37 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um <5:06:42 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: 10 days <5:06:46 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: usually I guess I consider Friday a weekday after work we have to make sure <5:06:52 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I would say <5:06:54 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: oh well I guess are we just talking beer we talking liquor <5:06:58 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: yeah I mean however much you're drinking what you're drinking I'd be interested to know <5:07:05 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I would say beer wise Friday after work I could probably go through like <5:07:12 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: maybe eight or nine going out to the bar and then whenever we get back home maybe two or three more and somewhere sprinkled in there is like three or four shots <5:07:21 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay so somewhere between like 12 to 15 drinks each of those nights all right and you know you're just drinking having a good time from what I understand <5:07:31 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: oh yeah I mean I just like I said I don't like it to affect my work I feel like <5:07:43 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I mean I've never gotten a DUI or anything like that so I don't think it's affecting my life too bad <5:07:44 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay when you do drink what are the aspects of drinking that you enjoy <5:07:51 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I'm just <5:07:57 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: here <5:07:58 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I don't know it's like a <5:08:00 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: not necessarily a new me but it's just a way I let loose like some people <5:08:02 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay so it sounds like it's kind of a social outlet and a chance to kind of get away from your day-to-day that you have during the week <5:08:05 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: like fishing or other activities I just like drinking <5:08:10 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: like being around the people <5:08:12 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: kind of in a way <5:08:20 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay um I know you mentioned that you know you have had some some times where you've decided to drive after you've been drinking is that in those scenarios where you know you're having eight to nine drinks <5:08:21 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um <5:08:33 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay do you ever worry about what might happen what your life might look like if you know something tragic or something unfortunate were to happen when you make those decisions to drive after you've been drinking <5:08:36 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: put <5:08:36 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I guess I don't really think about I would probably say yes I don't really <5:08:41 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: thought to it just kind of when it's time to go home just get in the car and go home <5:08:46 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um <5:09:00 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I mean personally not I guess <5:09:04 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I don't <5:09:04 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: usually not but every now and again like if you see something in the news about it like <5:09:05 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: yeah definitely I mean valid concern <5:09:10 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I guess I've never personally drawn the conclusion to it happening to me directly but like you obviously see it in the news and you think that's like <5:09:19 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: something you want to happen to yourself <5:09:22 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um <5:09:25 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: um I want to kind of switch gears you know it sounds like you aren't too concerned with the drinking at this point but is there anything you don't like about consuming alcohol the way that you do <5:09:40 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I mean I guess I just <5:09:42 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay so hangovers are not fun for you they aren't fun for very many people from what I gather what do your hangovers look like <5:09:42 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: like I said I just use it kind of as an outlet I <5:09:46 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: it doesn't really affect my work because on Sundays I usually don't <5:09:51 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I don't do it as much usually just early in the morning I would say the biggest negative is just kind of The Hangover going into Sunday evening <5:10:02 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: it's usually sometimes it's a headache most the time it's really just a stomach a click <5:10:17 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay <5:10:19 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: it's the biggest thing is just a stomach ache usually harder to sleep so sometimes Mondays are a little bit <5:10:27 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: but I don't it doesn't affect me at work too terribly much <5:10:34 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: I <5:10:34 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: I'll be honest you know just with the amount you tell me that you're drinking <5:10:39 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um <5:10:40 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: just a little bit concerned that maybe your consuming more than we would like you to be for several components of your health <5:10:49 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: given that you're starting to kind of see that it may be trickling over into to work a little bit on Mondays <5:10:57 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: would you be motivated to maybe cut back at all <5:11:03 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I mean I don't think it affects work too bad is they're like <5:11:09 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: is there like a direct reason like you're concerned for me like I guess I just go into Friday evening Saturday Sunday mornings just <5:11:09 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: like <5:11:10 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: so I would say if you're asking me if I'm concerned about areas of your health I don't have your Labs right in front of me but I can tell you you know drinking to that level does carry some some health risks we can get into that more later on but if <5:11:19 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: is <5:11:19 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: scissors like letting loose a little bit like I don't I guess I don't see an issue there too much yeah the grogginess I guess <5:11:26 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: kind of a concern but <5:11:46 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: you know <5:11:48 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: if you're not feeling like now is a good time to cut back <5:11:53 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: would be some of the reasons that you you know <5:11:57 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: want to keep drinking at the level that you're drinking <5:12:00 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: um I mean I guess I don't <5:12:03 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: have like <5:12:06 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: doesn't really affect my life I mean maybe if something like drastic came about in my life then maybe I guess <5:12:14 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: your thought there but I've never like I said until you brought up like the <5:12:18 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: but I think he brought up like something like seeing a DUI or something like that but I'd never really liked <5:12:24 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: my mind because it's just been <5:12:27 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: like <5:12:29 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: not <5:12:29 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: I've gone about my life for so many years so I just <5:12:31 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay given your kind of current you know episodes where sometimes you decide to drive after you've been drinking <5:12:31 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: do you <5:12:33 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: really a thought of changing if that makes sense <5:12:36 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: like <5:12:36 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: yeah I would definitely I mean <5:12:45 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: you're at risk for maybe having a DUI or having maybe a you know drunk driving accident or something like that <5:12:54 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: it is not something I think of in the moment but as you bring it up right now yeah I would say there's a pretty obvious risk their <5:13:01 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay so what I'm hearing you say is you're not super concerned about the drinking as it pertains to just what the drinking picture looks like for you but some of the risks that it carries concern you a little bit <5:13:11 PM> Joel Spenny - Patient: yeah <5:13:15 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: okay <5:13:16 PM> Cole Stevens - Doctor: in light of the fact that you do have some concerns is there any on a scale <5:13:20 PM> Paul Hershberger: I'm gonna stop I'm gonna stop you here called <5:13:24 PM> Paul Hershberger: um and give me just a moment here to ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Aug 26, 2025, 5:13:32 PM
