Patient: when I got that morning <6:17:14 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: um it's before or after I've had my coffee <6:17:19 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: and a lot of times you know it's just you know you get you get doing stuff <6:17:23 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: in all our eyes get get distracted and you know I'll just like it's the afternoon dose that really gets me <6:17:29 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: as like just middle of your day you gotta take a trunk out to go <6:17:33 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: got the pills take the pills ruin your lunch it's just no fun <6:17:39 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: know that sounds not fun and I am sorry for that <6:17:42 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: people <6:17:43 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: all right so is that the hardest part of taking your medications is <6:17:48 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: okay I've I'd say so it's yeah or you know like end of the night have some dinner get go get back from <6:17:49 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: the the midday part <6:18:00 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: like being our friends and then just like you know you're tired at the end of the day <6:18:00 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: maybe <6:18:06 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: drink or two and just concrete out with the next morning go <6:18:10 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: it's time for my morning meds <6:18:12 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: and just miss some of the evening ones but that's not all the time so sometimes <6:18:18 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: doing working <6:18:18 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what are you <6:18:20 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: yeah I know it absolutely sounds like you are and I get your frustration <6:18:25 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what do you feel that taking these medications takes away from you the most <6:18:31 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: a lot of bluntly a lot of joy <6:18:33 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: gotcha so you having those those gut problems and stomach problems on the days when you're not taking your meds as well <6:18:39 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: just like just feeling like feeling good like my my stomach's always messed up I got can get messed up all the time like I feel like if I actually took all in meds I'd be more messed up than I would if I didn't so I'm just would rather not take them <6:18:57 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: here <6:18:59 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: no no I don't take my meds and I'm not nauseous I don't <6:19:05 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: gotcha <6:19:08 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: take a whole handful of poison and I'm feeling right as rain you know <6:19:15 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: yeah no absolutely <6:19:15 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: have my coffee we have a donut <6:19:19 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: got this donut shop down the street it's phenomenal make the best donuts in town <6:19:22 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: I mean that sounds great <6:19:24 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I know the guy he'll make me yeah make me like a half dozen fresh and just like <6:19:28 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: yeah so I totally understand that feeling of having a warm done it in your hand that sounds great <6:19:31 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: fresh donuts with fresh coffee there's nothing better <6:19:42 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: I like high on one hand you have your chronic conditions which you know you have diabetes and I'm sure many people have given you lectures on <6:19:44 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: you <6:19:49 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: here <6:19:53 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what that means but then so that's why you have these medications and so on one hand they're meant to protect your health but then on the other hand you're having all this issue <6:19:53 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what's <6:20:01 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: here all right like I know it and you're right you're not the first person who's told me about like all these consequences all these problems <6:20:05 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: at what's that tension like for you the chronic versus the acute <6:20:22 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah you know my sugar is my run a bit High sometimes but you know they they're not low <6:20:27 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: and that's good right we care a lot about them getting low I haven't had <6:20:32 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: haven't had any lows can tell you that much for sure <6:20:35 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: uh and it's like you know I know it <6:20:40 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: like I know it's not good for me but it's like <6:20:43 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: what <6:20:43 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: would I <6:20:43 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: that's a fair question <6:20:48 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: other die slowly from diabetes and drawing my life <6:20:48 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: or <6:20:52 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: feel like I'm dying slowly and live forever <6:20:57 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: here oh yeah <6:21:01 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: so it sounds like a lot of struggles with how the medications are making you feel <6:21:07 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: when you brought this have you brought this up to your I assume I'm your primary care I'm sorry I have you brought this up in the past when we have visited <6:21:20 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: uh maybe a bit I mean this is feels like we've talked about it a bit like oh yeah you gotta take your meds all these diseases are really bad Strokes heart attacks <6:21:33 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: uh my my liver my feet <6:21:34 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: okay <6:21:37 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I again like I know I know what could happen but it's not happening right now and <6:21:45 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I'm doing okay so why <6:21:48 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: that's understandable so you've kind of brought up to really good points that I want to address with you Kyle <6:21:48 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: and <6:21:48 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: keep taking all of this stuff that makes me feel worse <6:22:02 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: you you've kind of just felt like all these medications are making you feel terrible which is fair I'm not saying that's not a true thing <6:22:13 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what would it look like for you if we <6:22:17 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: stomach <6:22:17 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: explored some of those side effects that you've been having especially with the nausea especially with your <6:22:25 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: pains and like looked at the medications and what might be causing that and tried to switch those around <6:22:26 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah <6:22:37 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: it sounds excellent actually <6:22:40 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: sure <6:22:40 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: like because that's <6:22:42 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah and like you know like sure I could just man up and take the damn pills but <6:22:49 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I <6:22:52 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I think you and I at this point both know I don't really want to but if there's something you give me that's not gonna mess with my stomach <6:23:00 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: oh <6:23:02 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: could be <6:23:02 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: more <6:23:04 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: open to trying at least trying you know but <6:23:08 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: if it doesn't work it doesn't work and you know not not dead yet <6:23:12 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: yeah and it sounds like you've got a lot of things to look forward to when you're not taking your medications so how would it look like if these chronic diseases became worse for you <6:23:18 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: you oh well I'm sure I'd get <6:23:26 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: top <6:23:30 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: yeah <6:23:33 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: know the people down the Ed a bit better <6:23:37 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: but <6:23:40 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: so what happens if they have to amputate your foot Kyle <6:23:42 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I guess what do you mean by my worst like oh my my feet get a bit numb their my toes were already kind of numb <6:23:51 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: oh I guess a little worse but whatever <6:24:00 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: you know <6:24:00 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: actually it can be for some people but <6:24:06 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: well <6:24:07 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: that that would suck I would really suck <6:24:14 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I mean that's not like I don't even have like a foot ulcer or anything yet you know like that's that's like something like that seems a <6:24:21 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: our long way off you know <6:24:27 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: out these this is the hard part about chronic diseases is what we term chronic diseases <6:24:35 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: we're used to things happening in a very quick setting overnight and so it's hard to notice when things are changing when you might be feeling less than you were before in your toes <6:24:49 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: so I don't want it to get to that point <6:24:53 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: and that's why I kind of ask you about <6:24:56 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what does progressing down this road look like if you aren't taking your medications and things do get worse <6:25:06 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: mmm <6:25:09 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: like I guess at some point that's <6:25:14 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: it's going to be between me and God <6:25:18 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah I go see worse like you know I know my blood pressure is probably not great talking to you right now I know it's not great <6:25:24 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: I <6:25:24 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: the past Fair <6:25:27 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: have that effect on people <6:25:29 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: but <6:25:30 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: okay <6:25:33 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah I guess I'd probably end up in the hospital wouldn't I <6:25:37 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: but I'd probably end up back out of the hospital too <6:25:37 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: what happens if you don't come back out of the hospital <6:25:45 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: probably not <6:25:47 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah I don't think they're really keen on me bringing my PlayStation in their either are they <6:26:01 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: well then Kyle I want to bring up a point that you brought up before which is you said you know it's really hard to stop what you're doing and go back home to take medications <6:26:02 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah I'd be bad I wouldn't like that I want to <6:26:05 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: click <6:26:17 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: it's not so hard to count out the pills what have you done to make this easier for yourself <6:26:23 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: I mean like I did the thing like I don't just keep in the kitchen anymore either they're in the bathroom so at least like <6:26:24 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: sure have you tried a pill organizer or something you could take with you where you count out the pills once at the beginning of the week and just kind of pop in whatever it says on that day <6:26:32 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: see him in the morning I see when I go to bed not that helps you know jog the memory a bit <6:26:38 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: but so that's helped a bit but that yeah that midday dose like <6:26:44 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: it doesn't matter where you put the pills like you're how often are you <6:26:48 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: hanging out around the commode and mid-afternoon <6:27:05 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: here <6:27:06 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: with having <6:27:06 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: yeah yeah I've tried that but like <6:27:09 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: in the three times a day like he kind of get one of those big old grids almost and then that gets confusing and like all right then I forget it day but now like do I keep going or do I skip around it just it becomes a whole deal and then I got to take like what at least half an hour on Sunday to put it all together and then you forget it one day and then <6:27:30 PM> Drew Meyers - Doctor: understandable <6:27:33 PM> Kyle Willette - Patient: what's the point of setting the whole thing up for the rest of the week so I just end up taking them out of the bottles again ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Aug 27, 2025, 6:27:43 PM
