Patient: well I don't drink at all during the week <1:06:15 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay <1:06:18 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: on the weekend like if like I go out with my friends you know have a good time maybe like <1:06:18 PM> Alina - Doctor: oh <1:06:25 PM> Alina - Doctor: it's six or seven drinks <1:06:26 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: seven <1:06:28 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: yeah <1:06:30 PM> Alina - Doctor: such a and are those <1:06:34 PM> Alina - Doctor: like beers shelters are they mixed drinks is it just <1:06:40 PM> Alina - Doctor: like a shot of alcohol <1:06:41 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: yeah like maybe like a couple shots and like a <1:06:43 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay and you said six or seven drinks is that throughout the whole weekend or is that each weekend day <1:06:48 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: year that I'm sipping on through the night <1:06:51 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: it each day <1:06:58 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay and how often sorry there's a little fly how often are you <1:07:01 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: of course <1:07:08 PM> Alina - Doctor: drinking both days on the weekend <1:07:11 PM> Alina - Doctor: this every weekend for you or <1:07:14 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: um <1:07:14 PM> Alina - Doctor: is this more of an occasion <1:07:16 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I'd say probably like most weekends if not every weekend <1:07:18 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay gotcha <1:07:24 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: um I feel fine about it I mean I I do feel like I'm drinking a fair amount like it kind of gets blurry like I don't remember a lot of what's going on you know we're just hanging out with friends and it's a good time and you know like a lot of people do it so <1:07:25 PM> Alina - Doctor: how do you feel about that <1:07:40 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay <1:07:43 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay but you do notice that you you said things get kind of blurry on the weekends can you tell me what that means <1:07:50 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: here <1:07:55 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: um yeah I think like I mean I remember the beginning of the night fine um like a but then you know after I've had a few drinks it kind of gets all fuzzy like and I I don't quite remember how I get home sometimes and <1:07:58 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay <1:08:15 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: in the morning it's it's also still a little bit fuzzy until it kind of clears out you know <1:08:20 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: mmm not <1:08:21 PM> Alina - Doctor: um do you ever have any guilt around your drinking <1:08:30 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: you know <1:08:30 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: much I feel like my partner sometimes complains about it and <1:08:36 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: she's not happy with it I feel a bit like guilty that it's like oh I'm making her worried because you know she doesn't drink like I do but um <1:08:47 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: yeah but other than that like you know she just says it occasionally like like every few weekends or something she'll be like I'm a little worried about you <1:08:56 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay and when she says she's worried does she have any specific concerns <1:08:58 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: yeah I think she she just like doesn't like that sometimes I'll get in like behind the wheel when I when I drink after I've drank so she she's worried I'll get into an accident or something <1:09:15 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay and how do you feel about the fact that you sometimes drive after you've had a night of drinking <1:09:17 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I mean I know it's not a good idea necessarily but I haven't gotten like a DUI and I've never gotten into an accident like the bar's not really that far from my house it's like a five minute drive so I I feel like it's okay <1:09:27 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay <1:09:41 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: yeah just because it's so close by you know like I wouldn't drive on the highway or like super far away but it's just like you know slow driving on the back roads <1:09:43 PM> Alina - Doctor: you feel like it's okay that you're driving <1:09:46 PM> Alina - Doctor: after you've had some drinks on the weekend <1:09:51 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay <1:10:01 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: but <1:10:01 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I mean I guess occasionally like like I said it's kind of a blurb I think my friends have maybe said something like they'll try to tell me not to get on the car or something afterward <1:10:02 PM> Alina - Doctor: hear you <1:10:05 PM> Alina - Doctor: other than your partner has there been anyone else or who else in your life has been concerned by your drinking <1:10:27 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: you know they're like they also were drinking so <1:10:29 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay can you think of any alternatives that you could take to getting home <1:10:31 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I don't I don't really understand why they're <1:10:34 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: their word because they do the same thing <1:10:37 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I mean I guess I could call my partner and asked her to pick me up but I don't want to like bother her you know like she's already kind of worried and she's a she's busy and you know I want her to be able to relax too on the weekends so I don't I don't want to you know make her come over to get me <1:10:43 PM> Alina - Doctor: they're then driving <1:10:47 PM> Alina - Doctor: effective okay <1:11:04 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: mm-hmm <1:11:07 PM> Alina - Doctor: um so it sounds to me like your wife is a little bit concerned about how much you're drinking on the weekends especially when you decide to drive after a night out <1:11:19 PM> Alina - Doctor: but you're also worried about <1:11:20 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: yeah <1:11:22 PM> Alina - Doctor: you know giving her her space and having you know her weekend time to relax so you don't want to call her for a ride <1:11:28 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: mm-hmm yeah <1:11:29 PM> Alina - Doctor: how do you think she would feel about you asking her to pick you up compared to you know what you're doing now <1:11:31 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I mean I think she would say yes like she's she's so nice and <1:11:31 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: you know <1:11:36 PM> Alina - Doctor: here <1:11:42 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: she's like such a wonderful person like she'd say in a heartbeat that like yeah of course I'll come pick you up like <1:11:49 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: I <1:11:49 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: you know she wouldn't give me any trouble about it but you know I just <1:11:54 PM> Lily Chen - Patient: like because she's so nice also like you know and it makes me feel bad that I'd have to bother her with it <1:11:55 PM> Alina - Doctor: gotcha what I'm glad that you're you know it sounds like very considerate of your life and it sounds like you found a good partner <1:12:06 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here Elena <1:12:10 PM> Alina - Doctor: okay ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 14, 2025, 1:12:21 PM
