Doctor joined the conference <1:21:59 PM> Alina - Patient joined the conference <1:22:00 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay Elena so it sounds like that you're frustrated with all the medications that you're taking right now which I understand it is a lot of medications can you tell me a bit more about your frustrations <1:22:26 PM> Alina - Patient: um I don't know I just feel like <1:22:33 PM> Alina - Patient: I just don't like wanting I don't want to have to remember to take them every morning like it you know kind of <1:22:33 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay <1:22:33 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um <1:22:41 PM> Alina - Patient: it just seems inconvenient when I don't take them I don't really know this anything different so I'm like I don't really know what they're even doing for me <1:22:49 PM> Alina - Patient: yeah <1:22:51 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: all right so sounds like um <1:22:56 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: sounds like they're just like rather Troublesome and you're not sure that the benefits are like outweighing those troubles <1:23:06 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay so what do you see us <1:23:11 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: what do you see as the benefits of not taking your medications <1:23:13 PM> Alina - Patient: um I don't have to I just don't have to like wake up in the morning <1:23:16 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:23:21 PM> Alina - Patient: knowing that I have to take them if I go on a trip I don't have to pack them with me <1:23:29 PM> Alina - Patient: if I have like a change in my schedule I don't have to like bring them with me to take them <1:23:36 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: right <1:23:37 PM> Alina - Patient: I don't know I don't have to remember to go to the pharmacy to pick them up every month <1:23:43 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: yeah <1:23:44 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um okay then on the other hand what do you see as some benefits as for taking your medications <1:23:52 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay <1:23:52 PM> Alina - Patient: um <1:23:54 PM> Alina - Patient: you know like <1:23:58 PM> Alina - Patient: when we've talked about it before you've told me that like <1:24:02 PM> Alina - Patient: you know we take these medications <1:24:06 PM> Alina - Patient: to prevent things from getting worse but <1:24:10 PM> Alina - Patient: when I don't take them I just don't feel any worse so <1:24:14 PM> Alina - Patient: I got the part I'm having a hard time figuring out <1:24:16 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay um so like in the day-to-day you're just not feeling those benefits <1:24:23 PM> Alina - Patient: right <1:24:25 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: it <1:24:26 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um but you remember I'm I'm glad to hear that you remembered that <1:24:34 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: it was talking about how they're kind of preventing things from getting worse <1:24:34 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: so <1:24:40 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: what do you see happening if you if you don't take your medications <1:24:45 PM> Alina - Patient: um <1:24:48 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: you don't really know okay um <1:24:48 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: yeah <1:24:50 PM> Alina - Patient: yeah I don't really know <1:24:56 PM> Alina - Patient: here <1:25:00 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: that's that's fine um if it's okay with you is it <1:25:06 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: is it okay if I share a little bit of information with you then <1:25:06 PM> Alina - Patient: yeah yeah <1:25:10 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay um so you have high blood pressure right and you're on some medications to help keep that low or lowered to kind of like a like a safer range of course we don't want you going too low and if you do please let us know so we can adjust <1:25:34 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: it on the purpose of that is because with the high blood pressure it can cause damage to your arteries it can cause strain on your heart right and that can cause complications down the road that would be things like like heart attacks Strokes all those things that are kind of you might not feel it happening in your day-to-day but down the line it can cause a lot of damage okay so similarly with your type 2 diabetes those medications they cut help keep your blood pressure in a safe range so that <1:25:34 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: the <1:26:18 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: blood sugars that are in your <1:26:21 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: the sugar that's in your blood isn't causing damage to other cysts systems things that that can cause our things like damage to the nerves especially in your feet so a lot of people who progressed to that point they can't feed feel their feet too well if it gets injured they can't tell that they've injured their foot somehow and it can get infected and some of those complications are things we worry about it can cause damage to the eyes a lot of different orgasms that can affect all right <1:26:59 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um <1:27:00 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: so yeah hearing all that what are your thoughts <1:27:01 PM> Alina - Patient: um I mean it's good to hear again like I feel like when I go home it's like <1:27:03 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:27:09 PM> Alina - Patient: kind of just forget you know those points you make I know you've made them before but <1:27:16 PM> Alina - Patient: yeah I guess it's just hard for me on a day-to-day basis since it's not like you know <1:27:18 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: right <1:27:22 PM> Alina - Patient: I'm having any of those problems yet <1:27:26 PM> Alina - Patient: and I haven't had any problems <1:27:27 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: mm-hmm <1:27:28 PM> Alina - Patient: that I know of since I've stopped taking them consistently but <1:27:33 PM> Alina - Patient: you know it sounds like it's important that I probably do <1:27:38 PM> Alina - Patient: take them every day <1:27:39 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay <1:27:42 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: so yeah so <1:27:44 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um <1:27:47 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um <1:27:47 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: I'm glad to hear that <1:27:49 PM> Alina - Patient: um I probably missed a dose maybe like <1:27:50 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: you you believe that it's important to take them <1:27:50 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: so <1:27:55 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: all kind of talking a little bit right now how often are you missing a dose <1:28:02 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay <1:28:05 PM> Alina - Patient: like two to three times a week <1:28:10 PM> Alina - Patient: I just forget to take them <1:28:11 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: uh-huh <1:28:12 PM> Alina - Patient: and then I remember when I'm like you know <1:28:14 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay okay <1:28:15 PM> Alina - Patient: running errands or something and then I don't have them with me and then I get home and I don't remember them again <1:28:21 PM> Alina - Patient: yeah just kind of hard to remember and then <1:28:24 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: um so it sounds like it's kind of just hard to remember in the mornings <1:28:28 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: right <1:28:32 PM> Alina - Patient: I guess you know like as I said it just doesn't like you know those days I forget I don't feel any different so it's I guess not very <1:28:39 PM> Alina - Patient: motivating to <1:28:41 PM> Alina - Patient: remember to take them <1:28:42 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: right I don't understand that um so after we've what we've talked about so far um like while it's kind of more recent in your memory what are what are some things now that you see think would happen if you don't take your medications every day <1:28:58 PM> Alina - Patient: um well it sounds like you know I might get other sort of like problems like you said the feed in the eyes <1:29:01 PM> Lily Chen - Doctor: okay <1:29:10 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here <1:29:10 PM> Alina - Patient: um so ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 14, 2025, 1:29:26 PM
