Patient: yeah it's just super frustrating it's like I have all these mats and it's like some of them I have to take in the morning so the map to take any afternoon so then I had to take before bed and it's like <5:51:26 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: it just feels like it never stops I'm always taking something <5:51:29 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah I <5:51:30 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: and is there a way that like cut this down to something that's like more manageable <5:51:34 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah I I totally hear you and it's really hard to keep everything straight and it's like different times of day and things like that um <5:51:50 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: would you be interested in maybe talking about ways that in the future you could decrease the amount of pills that you're taking <5:51:58 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: um yeah is there a way to decrease the amount of pills I'm taking <5:52:04 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah so um <5:52:09 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: giving you pills to treat lots of different things <5:52:09 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: but <5:52:15 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: pills aren't the only treatment for some of these conditions that you have some other things that can <5:52:24 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: help treat your disease is things like Diet exercise healthy habits and things like that <5:52:36 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah good <5:53:00 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: on <5:53:00 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: I'm sure you've maybe heard on the <5:53:04 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: yes <5:53:05 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: views or the internet um or I guess explain to me what you understand about <5:53:13 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: mmm isn't it just like a sugar thing the sugar is too high <5:53:13 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: your diabetes for example <5:53:20 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah yeah so um in diabetes your sugar is too high in your blood and usually it's because your body has stopped responding to insulin which is how we get the blood or the sugar out of our blood and into our cells <5:53:25 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: forever <5:53:45 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: um do you know or what <5:53:47 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: um like you just said right so pulling it out Oh you mean like from eating and all that and how do I get in there okay yeah I guess it's from the stuff that I eat <5:53:50 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: what's your understanding of how sugar gets into our blood <5:53:56 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah <5:54:05 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: he okay um what have you been eating recently <5:54:11 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: um mostly just a typical American diet <5:54:20 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: hmm okay <5:54:25 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: what kind of beverages do you drink <5:54:28 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: I drink a lot of soda <5:54:29 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: okay is it regular soda or diet soda <5:54:33 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: just a regular soda diet taste nasty <5:54:38 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah <5:54:43 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: I I know what you're saying <5:54:46 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: and well if it's okay with you maybe we can explore some ways to decrease the amount of sugar in our blood you're taking medicines that help do that but there's things that you can do to help decrease the sugar in your blood and then that would give us the potential to hopefully decrease or stop your medications in the future <5:54:56 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: okay <5:55:13 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: um so you were explaining to me that you kind of have the typical American diet and <5:55:26 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: drink like soda that has sugar in it <5:55:31 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: ideas you have with kind of how you're eating and drinking now to decrease the amount of sugar you're eating or drinking <5:55:31 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: problem <5:55:37 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: um <5:55:43 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: I guess drink less soda <5:55:44 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah yeah how how willing are you to cut back on drinking soda on a scale from one to ten or one being like you're not really wanting to cut back in 10 you really are gonna <5:56:08 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: cut back are you trying to tell me that if I cut back I have to start drinking die is that what you mean <5:56:08 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: um do lots of things to decrease how much soda you're drinking <5:56:16 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: here no you don't have to drink diet <5:56:23 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: you could just drink less <5:56:25 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: forward <5:56:27 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: um so that <5:56:28 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: well I don't really drink right now I only drink about two bottles a day <5:56:30 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: or what are some ways that you <5:56:35 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: okay how big are those bottles <5:56:37 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: um they're just like the little to go on the plastic with the cap on it <5:56:43 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: okay um okay <5:56:48 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: I guess we were talking earlier about how you want to decrease the amount of medications that you're taking <5:56:57 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: are you willing to cut back on soda or we can look at kind of what foods you're eating too but how willing are you to cut back on those things <5:56:57 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: to <5:57:06 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: okay to be honest dog I'm tired of the pills but if you want me to tell you the truth I don't always take them <5:57:08 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: who have to take last medications in the future hopefully <5:57:23 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: if you <5:57:23 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: know right now I've kind of got my own solution to having less pills is just I just skip some and that's been working fine I mean are my numbers looking good or are they looking good enough for like <5:57:34 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: it <5:57:36 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: just keep skipping stuff when I want <5:57:37 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: type <5:57:39 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: um unfortunately I don't think that you should keep skipping your medications your A1C like we check every three months that's the blood test that tests how much sugar like the person of sugar in your blood and that went up from your last visit <5:58:07 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: so unfortunately I think we're either going to have to switch some things around or Target some diet and exercise changes <5:58:16 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here <5:58:18 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: okay well if that's the case I guess I will have to think about maybe cutting down on this pop so it's one a day better than two a day can I maybe do that <5:58:28 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: yeah that's a great first goal <5:58:31 PM> Olamide Oyeyemi - Patient: okay <5:58:35 PM> Anneliese - Doctor: it's like the fastest six minutes of my life ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 17, 2025, 5:58:45 PM
