Patient joined the conference <2:13:04 PM> Mallory - doctor joined the conference <2:13:04 PM> Mallory - doctor: Greek hi Laura <2:13:08 PM> Mallory - doctor: so what brings you in today <2:13:11 PM> Lara - Patient: I'm just here for a regular checkup exam just to get my annual done <2:13:11 PM> Mallory - doctor: awesome I'm glad you came in today so one of those things that comes often with an annual visit is talking about mammograms how do you feel about that <2:13:19 PM> Lara - Patient: um <2:13:30 PM> Mallory - doctor: sure I totally understand that especially when it's something that we haven't talked about before so you are this is the age that you would start getting them and you mentioned something about thinking a lot about it and about having some anxiety tell me more about that anxiety what are you anxious about <2:13:33 PM> Lara - Patient: I've been thinking about it but <2:13:36 PM> Lara - Patient: I just don't know if I'm ready yet to get one <2:13:41 PM> Lara - Patient: I guess I wasn't sure about like what AJ <2:13:45 PM> Lara - Patient: it when I would like need to get one and <2:13:48 PM> Lara - Patient: I don't know I've just been more anxious about getting one so I've been kind of pushing it off and <2:13:56 PM> Lara - Patient: yeah <2:14:00 PM> Lara - Patient: um I think I just don't know what to expect <2:14:17 PM> Mallory - doctor: you <2:14:23 PM> Lara - Patient: at like when I'm getting my mammogram and then you know like anxious about what results could happen <2:14:28 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah <2:14:32 PM> Lara - Patient: um my <2:14:34 PM> Lara - Patient: moms had <2:14:36 PM> Lara - Patient: I'd be <2:14:36 PM> Lara - Patient: a breast cancer before it's like <2:14:39 PM> Lara - Patient: justify <2:14:41 PM> Lara - Patient: similar results back <2:14:44 PM> Lara - Patient: just kind of a mixture of everything <2:14:50 PM> Lara - Patient: yeah <2:14:50 PM> Mallory - doctor: your mom had breast cancer <2:14:53 PM> Mallory - doctor: really <2:14:54 PM> Lara - Patient: um she <2:14:56 PM> Lara - Patient: at it a while back but <2:15:00 PM> Lara - Patient: they treated it and everything and she's been perfectly fine <2:15:04 PM> Lara - Patient: in so I guess that also plays a role in me <2:15:08 PM> Lara - Patient: pushing it off just because <2:15:11 PM> Lara - Patient: I feel like I feel perfectly fine I don't know I feel like I'm healthy I feel like I <2:15:11 PM> Lara - Patient: eat <2:15:19 PM> Lara - Patient: knee exercise <2:15:21 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah <2:15:23 PM> Mallory - doctor: first I'm really glad that your mom's doing well that's really good to hear so I'm here and you kind of say that you're anxious for a couple different reasons one because this is your first time you don't really know what to expect and two since your mom had this and they did find something kind of that fear of like oh what if they find something with me <2:15:42 PM> Lara - Patient: yeah <2:15:42 PM> Lara - Patient: I feel <2:15:48 PM> Lara - Patient: like it's just <2:15:50 PM> Lara - Patient: something I've been pushing off kind of I feel like <2:15:54 PM> Lara - Patient: I don't know if <2:15:54 PM> Lara - Patient: I feel like I would do it eventually I just didn't know like when I should do it and <2:16:00 PM> Lara - Patient: and then <2:16:00 PM> Lara - Patient: I've been ready yet <2:16:04 PM> Lara - Patient: just been so busy that I haven't had time to even like have my annual or come into <2:16:10 PM> Lara - Patient: couldn't visit you for today like it's been <2:16:10 PM> Lara - Patient: epic <2:16:12 PM> Mallory - doctor: for sure life life really gets in the way of making these doctors appointments for sure my coming in and making the time to see me so on a scale of one to ten <2:16:12 PM> Mallory - doctor: how <2:16:13 PM> Lara - Patient: at home <2:16:28 PM> Mallory - doctor: likely would you be that if I put in an order today for you to go get that done <2:16:30 PM> Lara - Patient: um I would say <2:16:39 PM> Lara - Patient: probably like a seven or an eight <2:16:41 PM> Mallory - doctor: why would you say you picked a seven or eight why not I might not have five <2:16:50 PM> Lara - Patient: um <2:16:52 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah <2:16:55 PM> Lara - Patient: I guess <2:16:58 PM> Lara - Patient: part of me is a little concerned just seeing my mom having to go through treatment <2:17:03 PM> Lara - Patient: and I don't really want to go through something like that <2:17:08 PM> Lara - Patient: I don't know like I feel like I'm also so busy that it's like hard to fit in my schedule and <2:17:08 PM> Lara - Patient: I don't know <2:17:15 PM> Lara - Patient: to expect during the appointment because I haven't had one before <2:17:20 PM> Lara - Patient: um but I feel like <2:17:23 PM> Lara - Patient: I'm more likely to go than not just <2:17:23 PM> Lara - Patient: to <2:17:30 PM> Lara - Patient: on the safe side <2:17:33 PM> Lara - Patient: but yeah <2:17:35 PM> Mallory - doctor: well that definitely makes sense <2:17:40 PM> Mallory - doctor: like we kind of talked about feeling the feeling a little bit apprehension or anxiety of not knowing what to expect but senior mom go through it kind of being a motivating factor to to want to go to treatment that she went through <2:17:55 PM> Mallory - doctor: uh would you you mentioned kind of not knowing what to expect would you want me to talk to you now kind of about what it is a little bit <2:17:57 PM> Lara - Patient: sure yeah <2:18:03 PM> Mallory - doctor: okay so just kind of a very brief overview and I can give you handouts and like tons of materials to look on after this too so you can be fully fully prepared but basically you kind of go and and they take your breath kind of between these two plates it's not the most comfortable experience and not just kind of lets them see everything that's in there if there's any kind of like little masses that you might miss when you feel around or any what we call calcifications which can just be like some hardening like nodules and their things like that and they do each side and I do want to say it is not the most comfortable experience <2:18:03 PM> Mallory - doctor: but <2:18:25 PM> Lara - Patient: um I think that's gonna feel a little more <2:18:48 PM> Mallory - doctor: it's really really really really beneficial because like you said if you catch it early like with your mom then we can have a really good outcome and and go through the treatment and so I just wanted to give you a little bit more information and I'll trust me when you leave here you will leave with loads and loads of the best sources to look up so that you feel like you are so well prepared but knowing knowing kind of more what it is how does that make you feel about going to get it <2:19:18 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah <2:19:20 PM> Lara - Patient: likely to a little more encouraged I guess to go get it <2:19:29 PM> Lara - Patient: I guess <2:19:31 PM> Lara - Patient: I just don't know I don't know I want I don't want to know like the results like if there is something bad I don't really want to know bad news <2:19:40 PM> Lara - Patient: um but I also feel like I'm fine like I feel healthy <2:19:42 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah <2:19:47 PM> Mallory - doctor: um <2:19:49 PM> Mallory - doctor: so you you said that you don't want to know if there's bad news <2:19:51 PM> Lara - Patient: yeah I feel like <2:19:54 PM> Mallory - doctor: sure <2:19:57 PM> Lara - Patient: I don't know I'd be more nervous if they found something on the scans and then <2:20:04 PM> Lara - Patient: um I don't know <2:20:06 PM> Lara - Patient: I like to play on the safe side and like just I'd rather not know than find out bad news <2:20:14 PM> Mallory - doctor: so he said that you want to play on you like to lean kind of on the safe side but if they have bad news you don't really want to hear it so kind of sounds like <2:20:16 PM> Lara - Patient: yeah <2:20:27 PM> Mallory - doctor: you want to play on the safe side to where if there was anything you know you want to go get it done you want to make sure that you know but at the same time you don't want to know <2:20:37 PM> Mallory - doctor: so <2:20:39 PM> Mallory - doctor: um what do you think what what would happen if there was that if they did find something and you didn't know <2:20:40 PM> Lara - Patient: um I guess that would <2:20:48 PM> Mallory - doctor: country <2:20:52 PM> Lara - Patient: I guess in that case I would want to know so that I could treat it <2:20:57 PM> Lara - Patient: we hope treat it quickly enough that I catch it early enough and everything <2:21:01 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah I definitely want to validate <2:21:04 PM> Lara - Patient: so I guess part of me would want to know but then I feel like <2:21:10 PM> Lara - Patient: the step of like going to get it is the most difficult part <2:21:22 PM> Mallory - doctor: that in in the first time is no matter like we talked about <2:21:28 PM> Mallory - doctor: but I think it's really great that like you said if they do find something and I know that it's not ever fun to find out bad news but like you said if they find it then they could treat it and that's ultimately what we would want <2:21:43 PM> Mallory - doctor: what <2:21:43 PM> Mallory - doctor: so kind of with all of that back to that scale from one to attend on if I put that order in today How likely are you to go get it today <2:21:56 PM> Mallory - doctor: say your numbers are still at a seven or an eight <2:21:56 PM> Lara - Patient: probably more of an eighth <2:22:02 PM> Lara - Patient: um I guess <2:22:04 PM> Lara - Patient: seeing my mom go through it I kind of would rather <2:22:09 PM> Lara - Patient: know if there's anything wrong I know I <2:22:13 PM> Lara - Patient: I should probably go get it done and I'm probably at the age that I should be getting it <2:22:19 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah that's one of the hardest things <2:22:22 PM> Lara - Patient: I guess just <2:22:24 PM> Lara - Patient: finding time in my schedule is like something that I have to overcome <2:22:36 PM> Mallory - doctor: and so finding time is that so that's kind of it sounds like finding time to go get it is now kind of the biggest barrier to want to go in and getting it <2:22:40 PM> Lara - Patient: I guess so I feel like <2:22:49 PM> Lara - Patient: a lot of what you've said has made sense and I should probably go get one <2:22:55 PM> Lara - Patient: um <2:22:56 PM> Lara - Patient: is it <2:22:56 PM> Lara - Patient: and I know I'm busy I guess I just don't know how long it takes either like is it a quick thing or <2:23:04 PM> Lara - Patient: something that <2:23:05 PM> Mallory - doctor: yeah so um it's something it doesn't take all day it's probably it's about the kind of the same time as like your appointment here would be but I would count the waiting time in the waiting room so I would plan for maybe about two hours or so so definitely takes a chunk of time out of your day but it's not all day and I you know I noticed that you made time out of your day to come see me here <2:23:06 PM> Lara - Patient: would take like all day <2:23:36 PM> Mallory - doctor: so <2:23:38 PM> Mallory - doctor: it sounds so how long were that <2:23:41 PM> Mallory - doctor: um <2:23:43 PM> Mallory - doctor: okay funny time I definitely understand that it's hard to find time during the day to go do that <2:23:47 PM> Angie: ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 22, 2025, 2:23:55 PM
