Doctor joined the conference <7:12:29 PM> Davud - Patient joined the conference <7:12:30 PM> Davud - Patient: yeah <7:12:30 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: all right good afternoon dude I'm Evan I'm a medical student with the ICU team taking care of Sally how are you doing today <7:12:39 PM> Davud - Patient: oh you know just worried about Sally <7:12:47 PM> Davud - Patient: oh she's just you know all the stuff going on with her breathing and seeing her like this is just heartbreaking you know she wanted her to get better already <7:12:47 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: yeah what concerns do you have about it right now <7:12:55 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: okay <7:12:58 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: but scientists <7:13:02 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: mm-hmm yes that's a reasonable one to get better she's been through a lot here lately tell me what you know about what's been going on with her status over the last week or so <7:13:12 PM> Davud - Patient: well she started having difficulty breathing <7:13:15 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: that's not very good morning I have the future <7:13:19 PM> Davud - Patient: I'm just shocked you know she's always been so healthy and <7:13:22 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: thank you <7:13:24 PM> Davud - Patient: I know there was like covid and <7:13:24 PM> Davud - Patient: she <7:13:27 PM> Davud - Patient: gotten worse with the Cog and then she was seen to be getting better which I was hopeful for but then just all the sudden she had to be intubated and I just I don't know what's going on so <7:13:29 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: of stuff <7:13:38 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: and has she ever been intubated before <7:13:43 PM> Davud - Patient: no no <7:13:46 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: know so this is the first time <7:13:48 PM> Davud - Patient: yeah <7:13:50 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: you <7:13:51 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: yeah and <7:13:52 PM> Davud - Patient: I don't <7:13:52 PM> Davud - Patient: I think when I was a kid I sold my grandfather on the ventilator but <7:13:54 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: this Innovation have you had any experience with other family members or friends being intubated in the past before <7:14:02 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: so she just literally write check for a year so she would go home tonight <7:14:10 PM> Davud - Patient: anything about it I mean I know that it hosts the breathing but <7:14:13 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: and she lives down and then corner of the would you like to know more information about <7:14:14 PM> Davud - Patient: well I think I understand why you guys are doing it is just I don't see any progression like any you know she's doesn't seem to be getting better and I want to know when we can take her out <7:14:20 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: maybe why we're doing it for Sally here <7:14:26 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: so <7:14:29 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: it's <7:14:32 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: right and that's kind of our concerns on our end as well you mentioned she's not really seeming to get any better and that's why I know you mentioned also that you want to maybe come off the ventilator but giving her status is not improving at this time we don't feel like it's safe to take off the ventilation at this point <7:14:36 PM> Davud - Patient: okay <7:15:00 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: last moment um and of course we're checking every day and <7:15:09 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: we're seeing if we can elicit any response from her and sometimes <7:15:12 PM> Davud - Patient: I mean me and <7:15:16 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: a respond to familiar voices so when you talk to her do you notice any movements at all arms legs face <7:15:25 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: had a little bit <7:15:27 PM> Davud - Patient: our kids and everybody would talk to her and say it and just be next to her and <7:15:30 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: School <7:15:34 PM> Davud - Patient: I want to say I see her arm twitch remove like maybe hand move a little bit but <7:15:36 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: he <7:15:41 PM> Davud - Patient: I want her to just be back to normal she was perfectly fine before all this happened <7:15:47 PM> Davud - Patient: why not shoes on a bunch of medications as well <7:15:49 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: um and that's what we're checking every day too we're trying to see if when we talk to her if she makes any movements but at this point it's really tough to gauge <7:16:05 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: what <7:16:05 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: kind of what's going on and what the Outlook looks like <7:16:09 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: questions might you have about maybe what we're looking to do in the next week or so <7:16:16 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: the rest of it <7:16:22 PM> Davud - Patient: I don't know <7:16:23 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: <7:16:24 PM> Davud - Patient: I want you guys to do everything you can like I said she's healthy I wanted to be back to normal <7:16:29 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: but and I know this was kind of discussed a week or so ago when she initially came in but in terms of her coach status are you aware of what a code status is <7:16:32 PM> Davud - Patient: yeah yeah <7:16:49 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: okay and right now she's full code <7:16:50 PM> Davud - Patient: yeah I mean I had that conversation before and I want you guys to do everything you can I mean Sally's a fighter she's always been <7:16:54 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: and your the next of Ken so <7:16:59 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: situations when she's not able to speak for herself you would be the one we look to making crucial decisions how does that sound <7:17:11 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: yeah <7:17:13 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: yep I hear you there and hopefully our treatments can help her come out of this <7:17:13 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: but if <7:17:18 PM> Davud - Patient: you guys do everything you can <7:17:20 PM> Davud - Patient: okay sure <7:17:31 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: not I want to kind of start this discussion now that's okay with you so let's say we're doing everything we can and <7:17:31 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: she's not <7:17:43 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: moving and prognosis Wise It's not looking so good how would you want us to go about giving Medical Care in that situation <7:17:48 PM> Davud - Patient: he like I said you guys I want you guys to do everything you can <7:17:55 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: okay <7:18:01 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: and these questions are just so I could understanding from where you're coming from so I don't make any incorrect decisions on your part <7:18:13 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: her Outlook moving down the line is she's <7:18:17 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: would you <7:18:17 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: on machines and pretty much bed bound <7:18:23 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: us to take life-saving action should her heart stopped beating or she stopped breathing <7:18:28 PM> Davud - Patient: I do because I mean it's been only what a week I feel like she can still recover I think there's still hope and <7:18:38 PM> Davud - Patient: like I said she was healthy before <7:18:39 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: mm-hmm yep okay and <7:18:41 PM> Davud - Patient: I don't think it will change a lot <7:18:45 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: so we're going out farther than a week so we're looking at two or three weeks how would that change your thought process <7:18:56 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: comments <7:18:56 PM> Davud - Patient: you know the kids and everybody else her brother <7:19:01 PM> Davud - Patient: and yeah <7:19:03 PM> Davud - Patient: we all want her to get better soon <7:19:03 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: which <7:19:05 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: I understand and if we aren't able to <7:19:11 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: at her better how would that affect your decision making <7:19:12 PM> Davud - Patient: what do you mean you're not gonna <7:19:15 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: let's say we've done everything we can and she would be ventilated probably <7:19:26 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: in death billion potentially the rest of her life she wouldn't be able to converse she wouldn't be able to get out of bed How would how would that change how you want us to manage our care <7:19:36 PM> Davud - Patient: well that's definitely not what we want <7:19:42 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: you <7:19:46 PM> Davud - Patient: I don't want her like this <7:19:49 PM> Davud - Patient: uh but I still want you to do everything you can so <7:19:54 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: okay and I hear you now will will document this conversation I know it's it's a very tough topic to discuss and Sally's been going through a lot of your family has been going through a lot and I'm glad you and your children are here with her right now we can continue to have this discussion over the next couple of days and formulating game <7:20:20 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: how does that sound with you <7:20:22 PM> Davud - Patient: yeah as long as you guys are doing everything you can so <7:20:27 PM> Evan Hartman - Doctor: okay all right that's the plan right now <7:20:28 PM> Davud - Patient: yeah ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 22, 2025, 7:20:32 PM
