Patient: yeah I mean aren't you afraid of failures like I don't know I just I think everyone just like oh I don't want to <2:06:04 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: you know <2:06:05 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: that's going to happen <2:06:07 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yeah no I definitely see why you can be concerned about that I guess on the flip side what are the things that you think you're doing well on <2:06:13 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I don't know <2:06:21 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: hmm I don't think anyone's asked me that before I feel like I I'm <2:06:25 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay and I think that's important for you to kind of also think about you know when you're thinking about the you said your failures but also thinking about those positive qualities that you bring to your job so yeah I guess in terms of your medication <2:06:30 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: and I work I feel like I can get the job done on time feel like I don't bother anyone too much <2:06:38 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: like my ADHD really locks me and sometimes so <2:06:43 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: yeah I think those are the the big things I feel like I get my work done <2:06:49 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: thank you <2:07:08 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: hmm <2:07:09 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: I've been for you <2:07:10 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it's okay it's taken the edge off but I still feel <2:07:11 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: what are <2:07:11 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay I guess from before to now when I increase your dose <2:07:17 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: you know it's hard to get up in the morning <2:07:21 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: cetera but it's definitely better it's definitely I see an improvement <2:07:32 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it just in terms of the <2:07:33 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: improvements that you've seen <2:07:36 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay yeah and I guess <2:07:36 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: then <2:07:39 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: like I feel like I can get out of bed more I feel like when I talk to people I have not in my head about things as much I feel less dissociated <2:07:50 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: special at work <2:07:51 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: um yeah <2:07:55 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: yeah <2:07:59 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: know how would you <2:08:02 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: see that you've like improved since or like functioning wise you feel like it's been better I guess to what point would you like to kind of see yourself <2:08:09 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I mean I don't I don't know if there is a better but I would like to be you know like my <2:08:13 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay <2:08:22 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: like my spouse is like really happy and she has a lot of energy <2:08:27 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I'd kind of be I'd like to be where she's at so that I don't feel like I'm bringing her down <2:08:32 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: um I like to be like some of my work mates who are not you know trudging along at work they're like happy to be there so <2:08:37 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yeah okay um and then can you tell me a little bit more about like your medication usage <2:08:48 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it's <2:08:48 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: yeah I just how you prescribed it just every day you up the dose recently and <2:08:48 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay and the side effects okay good to hear that um <2:08:56 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: okay <2:08:57 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: side effects <2:09:03 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: so what I'm hearing from you is that you know you there's other people around you and you kind of see them as like the point that you want to be at um I guess what are the things that you think can help you <2:09:12 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: hello you mentioned therapy but that's not I don't know I don't know about therapy I've heard us for stupid people and I <2:09:12 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I <2:09:18 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: get get to that point <2:09:28 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: if I'm not I don't know <2:09:31 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I feel like maybe improving my relationship <2:09:31 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: with <2:09:36 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: my spouse <2:09:38 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yeah <2:09:38 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: um I don't know getting better at my job <2:09:42 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: not having performance reviews at work <2:09:45 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: having my roommate still here <2:09:47 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I don't know <2:09:49 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay yeah definitely seems like there's you know a lot of things that are going on in your mind and I do want to say like <2:09:59 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: therapy the reason why I recommended it is <2:10:04 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: I feel like having a person to kind of walk you through and talk have you like talk about all the different things that are going on could be potentially helpful so I guess what have you heard about therapy that kind of makes you feel like you don't want to go <2:10:06 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: okay <2:10:16 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I just feel like you know they they use a lot of terms that I feel like are either over my head or they talk down to me <2:10:23 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay yeah I definitely see like you know what your concerns about therapy are and thank you for sharing that with me definitely helps me to get a better understanding of like how you feel about it um I guess <2:10:33 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: or at least like they've talked down to friends of mine in the past when they when they've been sharing that <2:10:39 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: and <2:10:39 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it's also like I know it's like I've heard some statistic that it helps 30 keep 30% the same and 30% get worse on therapy it's like I don't want to play the gambling game you know <2:10:52 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: just like sharing everything with someone is it makes it too real <2:10:56 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it's like I have to relive it every time I talk to therapists and that's it's not something I really want to do <2:11:18 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: um if therapy were to help I know you mentioned the 30% <2:11:25 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: how would you see that like what <2:11:28 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: the therapy look like to help you get to that 30% of improving <2:11:34 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: um okay um and I guess on like a scale of like one to ten if that were to be like a therapist that you found How likely would you be willing to see a therapist <2:11:35 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I think they as long as they're non-judgmental as long as they let me <2:11:41 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: share things with out like <2:11:43 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: talking down to me <2:11:46 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: or like trying to correct all my behaviors very quickly because I'm kind of bad at adaptability I like I'm kind of sat in my ways and if that changes too quickly then you know starts to exacerbate my symptoms <2:12:00 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I guess I guess to summarize something that like <2:12:00 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: someone <2:12:03 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: would like doesn't judge me or talked down to me and then someone who <2:12:08 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: gradually works with me and said just like forcing me to do a bunch of things <2:12:12 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it's <2:12:25 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: probably probably like a seven <2:12:29 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay <2:12:32 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: that's it <2:12:34 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: um then on that scale like what would make it like maybe like a nine 10 <2:12:42 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yeah <2:12:43 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I think I think if it was someone that I knew could help me like without a shadow of it all like just I would go in there and I'd feel better when I left I think that would be that or if I knew that it was gonna improve my mental health even if they didn't directly improve mental health it was just like getting it out and talking would help <2:13:04 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: found me and make me when I go <2:13:06 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay so I guess what I'm hearing from you is kind of you know knowing that the therapy is going to help and not set you back and having someone that's like non-judgmental and also for you to feel comfortable sharing everything that's like on your mind <2:13:07 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: mmm <2:13:21 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: exactly yeah <2:13:26 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay <2:13:28 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: um I guess on the flip side <2:13:34 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: I guess you talked about like the gamble um but what are your thoughts on if your mental health like doesn't improve <2:13:48 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: how do you see yourself like moving forward if you <2:13:48 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: yeah I I'm worried about you know right now I'm not suicidal or anything and I have okay relationship with my spouse <2:13:53 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay um yeah no I can definitely see your concern with that <2:14:01 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: but it already the mental sometimes gets in the way so <2:14:05 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: if <2:14:05 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: um if things got worse I worried that I'd lose the one person I've already losing my roommate or lose the other person who who cares about me and then <2:14:14 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: she can't handle it anymore and all you know I'm worried about starting to get like thoughts of harming myself <2:14:22 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: um so yeah I mean I could definitely go the other direction pretty bad <2:14:33 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: and <2:14:34 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yes currently you know what are the ways that you think are the next best steps for you to kind of help you get towards the end where you see like you're more like your friends your spouse <2:14:47 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: it like can you laugh like what do you mean by the next best steps like like from like my mental health standpoint or just like in life like getting promoted because I feel like promotions would be fantastic <2:14:50 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yeah I mean I guess things that you can control what are that you can control that you can do to kind of help you get to where you want to be <2:15:02 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: okay <2:15:07 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: get <2:15:07 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: yeah I I know I just said that the therapy is not something I'm really want to do but I do feel like when I talk to my spouse or my roommate I I feel like I have some relief like I'm not I'm sharing the burden a little bit so to speak also I every time I have like a goal in my work or even in a Hobbies I feel like it kind of lets me <2:15:11 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: yeah <2:15:36 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: distracted a bit <2:15:38 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: so maybe maybe like find a new hobby <2:15:38 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: I think that <2:15:41 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: something fun I don't know what to do but <2:15:46 PM> Emily Chen - Doctor: okay um definitely like I can see that Hobbies can help you like distract I know you said you like to like your relationship with your spouse is important is there anything in particular you would want to do with your spouse as like a hobby <2:15:48 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: well no never thought about that <2:16:07 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: she likes to do her own things and I'll do my my things <2:16:12 PM> Brad LeHoty - Patient: that's a good question maybe maybe work out together maybe ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 23, 2025, 2:16:17 PM
