Doctor joined the conference <10:08:01 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient joined the conference <10:08:01 PM> Paul Hershberger joined the conference <10:08:02 PM> Paul Hershberger: here <10:08:02 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay <10:08:09 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: things have been pretty good <10:08:15 PM> Travis - Doctor: oh okay <10:08:21 PM> Travis - Doctor: wow all right <10:08:23 PM> Travis - Doctor: all right so Alex it's good to see you tell me how everything's been since we last saw you <10:08:29 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay it's good to hear and how the influx of infusions has been going for you <10:08:31 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I have an add really any problems with the the IBD in you know overall feeling pretty good <10:08:39 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: so I think my last infusion was two months ago <10:08:50 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: or maybe a little bit longer than that I think I was supposed to have one last month but insurance recently switched jobs and insurance kind of messed that up and I I missed my last infusion <10:09:04 PM> Travis - Doctor: I'm sorry to hear that I know Insurance can always be a pain sometimes <10:09:06 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: yeah yeah absolutely <10:09:11 PM> Travis - Doctor: and <10:09:11 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay <10:09:14 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: that's fine like I said I've been doing fine I haven't had any flare-ups <10:09:14 PM> Travis - Doctor: have you been feeling since you miss that that dose <10:09:23 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: you know not doing too bad I feel like you know if I <10:09:30 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: and do this one I feel fine you know what are the what is the potential maybe not doing infusions <10:09:35 PM> Travis - Doctor: over <10:09:35 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay so it sounds like everything's been going <10:09:36 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: in the future <10:09:38 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: yeah I mean I know they were necessary at the beginning but now that was almost a decade ago and I feel like <10:09:44 PM> Travis - Doctor: are they <10:09:44 PM> Travis - Doctor: all okay I've been doing the infusions you missed the last one just because some insurance issues that we're going on but otherwise it felt fine even without the infusion and so really you're only primary concern is <10:09:57 PM> Travis - Doctor: really necessary <10:09:59 PM> Travis - Doctor: yeah and for and I know that getting infusions every eight weeks can be difficult so you know it makes sense that if you feel fine without it what's the point <10:10:10 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: you know <10:10:12 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: do I really need them like you said now that I don't have any everything problems maybe trying to see what it's like without them <10:10:21 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: mm-hmm <10:10:31 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay <10:10:32 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: yeah <10:10:33 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay so kind of going into that a little bit <10:10:34 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: um I mean I understand that with my ivd there's a lot of inflammation and that's really what's causing my symptoms with the diary they you know bloody stools the things like that the abdominal pain and the inflicts map <10:10:38 PM> Travis - Doctor: how many just overall your understanding of why we're doing the infliction AB infusions <10:11:06 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: helps calm all that down and keeps it in check so that there's not a lot of inflammation and <10:11:15 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I don't have those symptoms as much <10:11:18 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: or I don't have those symptoms at all <10:11:20 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay <10:11:23 PM> Travis - Doctor: so then kind of thinking about those symptoms that we had previously I know you said you feel fine now <10:11:26 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: people <10:11:31 PM> Travis - Doctor: if you were to <10:11:33 PM> Travis - Doctor: get kind of those symptoms again what would that look like for you <10:11:38 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I mean it would look like <10:11:42 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: diary it would look like it would previously I guess <10:11:45 PM> Travis - Doctor: fair enough <10:11:48 PM> Travis - Doctor: he <10:11:48 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I you know <10:11:51 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: it's just you know <10:11:54 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: these these infusions I mean like you said they take a lot of time I know there's other treatments for <10:12:02 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: IBD doesn't require infusions every eight weeks <10:12:09 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: you know whether that's an option or something like that <10:12:14 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: you know but again <10:12:14 PM> Travis - Doctor: Yeah so basically the benefits of the keep those you know symptoms from recurring like you just said so kind of going in the opposite direction what would be the benefits of not doing the infusions <10:12:17 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: maybe not you know I haven't had any problems lately maybe you know don't need it <10:12:25 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: um well <10:12:45 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I would have to deal with the insurance and wouldn't have to <10:12:47 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay <10:12:50 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: you know move my calendar calendar around every eight weeks for infusions and things like that and wouldn't have to worry about it <10:12:59 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: mmm <10:13:02 PM> Travis - Doctor: so from what I'm gathering basically <10:13:06 PM> Travis - Doctor: Miss infusion feel fine without it doing it mainly to stop the symptoms from coming back but on the opposite hand <10:13:17 PM> Travis - Doctor: stopping it would mean don't have to deal with insurance anymore which would be a plus and then secondly just don't have to get the infusion every week and get you know poked and prodded and things like that <10:13:23 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: yeah pretty much <10:13:29 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay <10:13:34 PM> Travis - Doctor: um <10:13:38 PM> Travis - Doctor: was I going with this <10:13:40 PM> Travis - Doctor: okay so then <10:13:49 PM> Travis - Doctor: it's kind of moving along <10:13:52 PM> Travis - Doctor: on a similar path <10:13:55 PM> Travis - Doctor: gosh <10:13:55 PM> Travis - Doctor: um <10:13:57 PM> Travis - Doctor: I'm blocking where was like going <10:14:00 PM> Travis - Doctor: you <10:14:01 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I guess the question I have for you is <10:14:04 PM> Travis - Doctor: he's <10:14:04 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: what are the odds of if I just stop what are <10:14:09 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: are the odds of it does come back <10:14:11 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: IBD <10:14:11 PM> Travis - Doctor: know that's a great question <10:14:11 PM> Travis - Doctor: out and <10:14:16 PM> Travis - Doctor: you for that that was just wanting to <10:14:17 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: yeah absolutely <10:14:19 PM> Travis - Doctor: if I can share kind of some information share that information with you <10:14:23 PM> Travis - Doctor: so <10:14:25 PM> Travis - Doctor: so you pretty much already summarized it pretty well yourself like we like you talked about the main the main reason why we treat the the IBD is symptoms to kind of make life easier for you so you're not dealing with those problems that you had mentioned earlier but kind of <10:14:42 PM> Travis - Doctor: King beyond that just the symptoms wise they're also things later down the road that we also <10:14:47 PM> Travis - Doctor: to prevent as well aside from just the symptoms things like cancer risk also things like <10:14:55 PM> Travis - Doctor: shares which is where you're you know your intestines kind of squeezed down and makes it really difficult to absorb things properly pass things properly you know kind of things like that things that you know you don't really feel on a day-to-day basis like the things you used to feel before <10:15:11 PM> Travis - Doctor: so it just kind of thinking about those things in mind <10:15:18 PM> Travis - Doctor: important <10:15:18 PM> Travis - Doctor: what what are those would probably be the most <10:15:22 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I mean it's really hard to see you know with it being well controlled for a while now I <10:15:23 PM> Travis - Doctor: to you kind of moving forward <10:15:35 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: but <10:15:35 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I mean no one wants cancer obviously <10:15:39 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: like I like I said it's been well controlled and I feel fine off the infusion <10:15:45 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: so you know <10:15:48 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: I don't I guess <10:15:50 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: obviously there's a possibility any of that can happen but <10:15:54 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: maybe just like <10:15:57 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: not needing the treatment I don't know I guess I don't really see the <10:16:01 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here <10:16:05 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: see the benefit if nothing's going on <10:16:07 PM> Travis - Doctor: coming over yeah fair enough so let's say that we we stopped the treatment and we just kind of see what happens <10:16:10 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: um well I think I'm just going to kind of you know keep on going with my with my life you know not having to do with the insurance and infusions I feel like I can <10:16:17 PM> Travis - Doctor: how what does that kind of path look like to you <10:16:28 PM> Travis - Doctor: you <10:16:34 PM> Alex Johnston - Patient: you know just kind of go by my life <10:16:36 PM> Travis - Doctor: here thank you Alex ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Oct 27, 2025, 10:16:49 PM
