Patient joined the conference <11:28:02 PM> Paul Hershberger joined the conference <11:28:02 PM> Empress James joined the conference <11:28:02 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor joined the conference <11:28:02 PM> Empress James: she <11:28:12 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: so hi Tennille how are you <11:28:13 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: hi I'm good how are you <11:28:16 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: I'm doing well thank you so much for coming in today I see you're here for your annual wellness exam is that correct <11:28:23 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: yeah I just want to you know I know you gotta swap me and do all that to just swap me and then we could go <11:28:28 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: Yes sounds good do you have any concerns today <11:28:32 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: the day <11:28:33 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: fine no nothing's really bothering me <11:28:42 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: no no concerned <11:28:43 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: oh okay I know at your last and you will visit last year you weren't sexually active I wanted to see are you currently sexually active <11:28:51 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: oh oh yes yes that has changed <11:28:55 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: okay can you tell me more about that or tell me more about that excuse me <11:28:59 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: oh yeah <11:29:01 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: yes so <11:29:08 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: it's been about five people this year <11:29:08 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: okay <11:29:12 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: um which is a little embarrassing and I haven't even told like my friends and <11:29:19 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: yeah it's thin guys and we <11:29:24 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: are using some people I've been using condoms and some people have it <11:29:29 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I <11:29:29 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: and why are you embarrassed about this <11:29:31 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: um because I just feel like five people in a year is a lot and to go from zero last year to like 100 and <11:29:38 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: can you <11:29:45 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: a year is <11:29:47 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: too much <11:29:48 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: people <11:29:50 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: tell me more about these encounters <11:29:52 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: we <11:29:52 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: yeah so the first person was my boyfriend and <11:29:58 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: you make sure to use protection and then kind of like over time we stopped <11:30:04 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: the second and third <11:30:07 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: people they were just like <11:30:09 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: just guys around from school like you know I could tell they like me and so it was just a one-time thing with those people and we didn't use protection and the less two people I did use protection yeah <11:30:19 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: okay so it sounds like you have been inconsistently using protection <11:30:25 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: the <11:30:28 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: he yeah <11:30:32 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: for and I hear some worry in your voice <11:30:33 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: oh yes <11:30:37 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: because like you know that you learn about different diseases but I don't think I have anything like I'm still full fine and so <11:30:42 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: okay and you say that you're worried about possibly having something tell me what you know about having an STD <11:30:46 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: it's just the worry is like could I have something <11:30:58 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: um I actually don't know a lot I just know that like I hear like there's some stuff like you could get bumps from and sometimes you can get bumps like on your private part or like your mouth and stuff so that's scares me um and then I've heard like there's some stuff you get and you can't get rid of like ever so <11:30:58 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I guess <11:31:20 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: worried for that but I don't have any of that I don't have any bumps or anything so it's fine I'm fine <11:31:28 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: and if you were to develop system any of any symptoms <11:31:32 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: you <11:31:35 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: how would you approach that situation <11:31:38 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: oh I would be pissed remember one then I would be scared then I would have to because like then who did I get it from you know like it's been so many people where did it come from and that would <11:31:52 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: that would freak me out <11:31:54 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: mmm and tell me how <11:31:54 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: here sorry then I said I guess and I have to come back here <11:32:01 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: oh <11:32:03 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: and if I educate you a little bit more about STIs <11:32:06 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: oh yeah I mean no I don't mind <11:32:08 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: so <11:32:08 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: okay for example you did mention some of the symptoms that can present with STIs which is great that you know that knowledge but you can also not have symptoms but still have something <11:32:23 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: could be like in an early phase such as like HIV or syphilis you might not show any symptoms and so that's why we encourage testing <11:32:27 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: oh <11:32:33 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: does this make you feel with that knowledge <11:32:35 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: um with the knowledge I think I would want testing but I don't have any symptoms so I don't like <11:32:47 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't know that I don't want to like expose myself to something because now I'm just gonna get like testing for something that I probably don't have <11:32:55 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: mm-hmm and how do you see <11:32:56 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: hmm <11:32:59 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: your future progressing if you don't get tested today and continue to <11:33:05 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: I live how you've been living in this past year <11:33:13 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I mean I think like <11:33:16 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: like worst case scenario you can get those things that you mentioned <11:33:22 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: but I feel like as long as I use protection I don't think I would have a problem I really just don't want to get tested because I kind of don't want to know <11:33:25 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: hmm <11:33:30 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: um because then like then I have to <11:33:33 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: why don't you want to know <11:33:39 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: probably like tell my mom or something you know like I don't want her to know that um then people in school will find out and then everyone will be judging me and I just <11:33:39 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't want <11:33:51 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't I don't want to know <11:33:53 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: and I don't have symptoms so I just feel like what's the point in getting tested <11:33:57 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: mm-hmm <11:33:59 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: so it seems like you're scared about having to tell your mother potentially or others finding out that you have something in that spreading <11:34:01 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: yeah <11:34:09 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: today on a scale of 1 to 10 how worried are you that you could be carrying something that you don't that you aren't presenting with symptoms today <11:34:15 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: well I guess like <11:34:20 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: are currently <11:34:23 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: what you just said like it's like I've heard of those things before like I've heard of HIV I've heard of syphilis and in the you said like that is <11:34:33 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: that could be asymptomatic so <11:34:36 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: of those things on a scale of 1 to 10 I would <11:34:39 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I'm like probably at a 10 warn <11:34:39 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: but <11:34:43 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: prior to that I mean <11:34:46 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: mm-hmm so now you say you're out at 10 why not a four <11:34:47 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: like a five four <11:34:49 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: um <11:34:56 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: a <11:34:56 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: all because those are like the deadly ones that I think right and like don't so not having <11:35:03 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: not knowing if you have it and then knowing like you could die from it makes me at a time <11:35:10 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: here <11:35:12 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: okay <11:35:13 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't <11:35:13 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't know but then like <11:35:15 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: here for an annual so now <11:35:20 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't know <11:35:21 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: yeah these are all a part of your health so I think it's important to have this conversation you know if any of your partners have ever been tested before <11:35:23 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: yeah <11:35:30 PM> Tamiel Murray - Patient: I don't know probably not <11:35:34 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: and <11:35:38 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: you know how you can protect yourself against <11:35:38 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll stop here <11:35:41 PM> Bianca Oteng - Doctor: perfect ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Nov 5, 2025, 11:35:52 PM
