Patient: through yes thank you <2:27:08 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: um as we're finishing up this encounter and everything I just want to just make sure I'm throwing just cover some extra stuff can you tell me a little bit about your drinking <2:27:13 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: yeah I like to I don't drink at all during the week I like to spend time being focused on my work and I enjoy my job as we spoke earlier and <2:27:30 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: here <2:27:34 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: of my family so I like to stay focused on that during the week and then on the weekend I like to crack occasionally have a drink or two <2:27:39 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay awesome betterly understandable what does like how many drinks are you typically having when you drink on the weekends <2:27:42 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: oh yeah it's not much I think on Friday usually I mean after work I usually go to happy hour with my buddies from work so I have a couple of beers there maybe like <2:27:58 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay <2:28:00 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: six to like 10 beers depending on how long I'm out with them but it's Friday you know you kind of have a good time and then Saturdays you know spending time with family usually you know outside and things like that so you know barbecuing outside so I have a bunch of beers you know throughout the day maybe you know I can't case of 24 um and you know Sundays you know we have dinner at night so I usually have wine and you know maybe a glass of wine with you know a few other things here and there but not all Sundays are going to be heavy drinking because I do have work on Monday so I don't want to overdo it on Sundays outley <2:28:08 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah <2:28:15 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: here <2:28:34 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah yeah <2:28:40 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: so um you said you have about seven to 10 drinks on Friday <2:28:43 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: next <2:28:46 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: case of about 24 beers on Saturday then a couple of five to six beers on Sunday in my understanding that correctly <2:28:52 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: sure yeah <2:28:53 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay um you know I I will say you know just feel like I need to say this that is <2:28:53 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: you know <2:29:02 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: according to a lot of the criteria that's out there is that would be considered a rather excessive amount of drinking what are your thoughts about that <2:29:02 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: yeah I mean I could understand why you would think that I think on Friday because I am out with you know my friends it's that many beers over a long period of time it's not in a short period of time and on Saturday usually I'm drinking with my wife you know she drinks a little bit not as much as I do obviously but she drinks a little bit so that's why when I say a case is between the two of us it's not just me <2:29:12 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: here yeah <2:29:22 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: just <2:29:27 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: do you <2:29:27 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay okay and <2:29:35 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: typically during I do you consider yourself a social Drinker or give a drink by yourself <2:29:36 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: I would consider myself a social Drinker I mean some nights yeah sure I might have a shot or two just to help me fall asleep but you know I I wouldn't say that's <2:29:42 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: you know <2:29:50 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah <2:29:52 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: normal or the regular <2:29:54 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: I feel good I'm just having a good time having fun <2:29:54 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: and how do you feel about drinking <2:29:59 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: much alcohol on the weekends <2:30:02 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: you have any concerns about that <2:30:05 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: um <2:30:10 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: you know I don't have any concerns <2:30:13 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: but there was a there was a <2:30:13 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: thing <2:30:16 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: there was an incident about two weeks ago where I did drive home a little bit intoxicated I was able to get home safely and I didn't get a DUI I think God but you know that did kind of scare me when I kind of realized what I'd done so I do kind of realize that I need to be safer with my actions when I do drink <2:30:17 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: here <2:30:24 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: oh yeah well obviously I think you know that you've seen you know <2:30:37 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: okay okay <2:30:42 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: should ever drink and drive there's plenty of options and resources out there you know Uber lifts anything you know calling your wife or whatever need be but we never ever ever <2:30:57 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: recommend drinking and driving <2:31:02 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: have you do so you feel very comfortable with your drinking I understand that correctly <2:31:06 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: a relatively <2:31:08 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah um has anyone in your family ever <2:31:13 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: asked you have you ever felt like you needed to cut back or that it's affecting your relationship any of your relationships <2:31:17 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: um <2:31:23 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: I would say there has been times where I have acted kind of like a full with some of my relationships I guess because of drinking but I don't think it's anyone's ever asked me to cut back or has had any problems other than me acting kind of drunk when I'm drinking sometimes <2:31:38 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay so um so I'm sure I'm understanding you have had a couple issues where you felt like you've acted like a full is that correct <2:31:43 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: yes <2:31:51 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay and how do you feel about that <2:31:53 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: you know I feel embarrassed feel a little woman embarrassing at times <2:31:56 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah that's up yeah I just completely understandable um and <2:32:05 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: oh man <2:32:05 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: how recently has one of those events happened <2:32:12 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: recently I mean actually it's funny you mentioned this because three days ago over the weekend it was actually my son's birthday and I drank a little bit too much and kind of had an event like that and I kind of embarrassed myself in front of his friends and some family <2:32:17 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: okay okay <2:32:30 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: I'm sorry that that happened <2:32:33 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: and <2:32:34 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: you know I don't think <2:32:35 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: when after the event happened and everything and you know you were sitting there what were you feeling how like did what was going through your mind <2:32:44 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: you <2:32:47 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: I it would it didn't have that much of the event didn't have that much of an impact on other people I know this because they kind of just assumed I was drunk but it kind of made me realize that they just assumed I was drunk <2:32:57 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: here <2:32:59 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: but <2:32:59 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: because that's just my normal self so that did kind of set in on me a little bit <2:33:03 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah <2:33:04 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: there again I'm just having fun you know I mean maybe they're just assuming that I'm just having a good time <2:33:08 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah um so I <2:33:09 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: differ <2:33:13 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: as your physician I feel obligated tell you this I am <2:33:16 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: a little concerned about your drinking due to the fact that <2:33:22 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: looking on the guidelines criteria we have you would be considered an excessive Drinker and what that comes <2:33:28 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: um you know with your health a lot of times you know it can lead to liver failure it can lead to a lot of other complications which are concerning which obviously very concerned you're very healthy guy and you doing everything you're supposed to for the most part but you know we want to make sure that something we might need to address and discuss on top of that a lot of times excessive drinking can lead to issues with relationship and eventually can affect a work now you're not at that point or anything and <2:33:45 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: like <2:33:47 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: and <2:33:50 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: for <2:33:53 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: say I don't have that that's what I'm saying like I don't think I have a problem because I'm doing really well at work <2:34:00 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yep <2:34:03 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: and <2:34:04 PM> Pedram Pouladvand - Patient: and I have good relationships as well <2:34:06 PM> Patrick Ruz - Doctor: yeah absolutely and you and I'm very very glad to hear that and you know but I just want to put that on your radar as a as ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Nov 25, 2025, 2:34:27 PM
