Patient: my wife sometimes you know says about you know you're drinking too much of blocking out but I don't think it's a problem because it's not affecting my work I I don't I don't mess around when I'm drunk you know I usually like a silent drinker so I don't really think it's a problem <2:34:36 PM> Sheena - Doctor: here what do you enjoy about drinking <2:34:40 PM> James Dai - Patient: I just forget about stress <2:34:44 PM> Sheena - Doctor: he correct is there anything about drinking that makes you worry or feel less good <2:34:47 PM> James Dai - Patient: oh you know sometimes when I black out you know you have a hangover but <2:35:00 PM> James Dai - Patient: more in that moment you know I feel like you know that's <2:35:05 PM> James Dai - Patient: always there they hang out <2:35:07 PM> James Dai - Patient: I'm in like a one or two <2:35:08 PM> Sheena - Doctor: me on a scale of zero to ten how important is it for you to make a change in your drinking <2:35:15 PM> Sheena - Doctor: okay um why not for or a seven <2:35:18 PM> James Dai - Patient: like again I don't think it's really a problem like <2:35:32 PM> James Dai - Patient: snuff like in my job you know I'm so provide my family it you know I don't cause a problem when I'm drunk <2:35:41 PM> James Dai - Patient: and you know sometimes I <2:35:44 PM> James Dai - Patient: drunk driver I'd never get a DUI so it's really not a problem from drinking <2:35:49 PM> Sheena - Doctor: okay if you were to make a change to your drinking habit <2:35:50 PM> James Dai - Patient: you know <2:35:50 PM> James Dai - Patient: I don't know I haven't really think about it <2:35:57 PM> Sheena - Doctor: um what do you think would work for you <2:36:07 PM> James Dai - Patient: maybe just not black house or my wife doesn't complain but you know I still want to drink <2:36:14 PM> James Dai - Patient: know I'm never tried <2:36:15 PM> Sheena - Doctor: okay um have you <2:36:19 PM> Sheena - Doctor: tried anything before in terms of cutting back on drinking <2:36:25 PM> Sheena - Doctor: so if I understand clearly it sounds like you drink to unwind it hasn't really been caused in problems at work but potentially causing problems at home <2:36:28 PM> James Dai - Patient: yes <2:36:41 PM> Sheena - Doctor: it and how has it affected your sleep or your mood <2:36:44 PM> James Dai - Patient: it doesn't really affect my mood again I I don't I don't lash out when I'm drunk I don't you know become a mess at home when I'm drunk and honestly my sleeping has been fine because I don't drink all weeks so <2:37:07 PM> James Dai - Patient: during the weekdays it doesn't really affect me <2:37:10 PM> Paul Hershberger: we'll go ahead and stop here ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Dec 8, 2025, 2:37:19 PM
