Patient: well you know I might have some drinks going out with friends and <2:03:55 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: oh I so I drink <2:03:59 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: when you say some drinks like how many drinks <2:04:06 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay <2:04:08 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I can drink maybe <2:04:10 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: sometimes I'll drink six beers sometimes I'll have a few shots <2:04:16 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: but so far hasn't really been a problem for me <2:04:24 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: oh it's I like to go out with friends and all my friends like the drink and you know we might go to a bar or a club and just enjoy the music and and socialize so it's <2:04:26 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: so what do you like about drinking <2:04:47 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay okay <2:04:47 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: it's this kind of I guess I have it from from going out with friends and all my friends are doing it too <2:04:57 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: it's the way um you so you so you said you drink most if you drink mostly on the weekend <2:05:06 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: yes a drink mostly on the weekends I don't during the week I'm too busy I don't drink too much during the week by the time I get home from work and <2:05:06 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay <2:05:09 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: oh <2:05:15 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay how much would you say drink during the week <2:05:16 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: take care of family and have dinner it's just <2:05:21 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I don't drink too much <2:05:23 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: hi I might just have a couple beers throughout the whole week <2:05:34 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay <2:05:37 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: all right so I guess you told me that you you like drinking because it makes you it you all your friends do it and you get to hang out with them what would you say you don't like about drinking <2:05:53 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I don't like how it makes me feel the next day I feel sluggish and groggy maybe dehydrated <2:06:03 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: all right there's there's some times where I've blacked out in the past as well and I don't know if that's <2:06:13 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: because of the drinking or not <2:06:15 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: well I I may have had like many beers or a couple shots and just <2:06:16 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: tell me more about this the times you've blocked out in the past <2:06:29 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: trying to remember what it was like <2:06:34 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: just <2:06:36 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I <2:06:36 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I can't really remember too much during during the episodes but <2:06:42 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: that had a lot to drink beforehand <2:06:48 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: I'm <2:06:50 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: started here that you had these blocking out episodes in the past <2:06:55 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: it's is there anything I can do the <2:06:56 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: um because <2:07:01 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: it's a change that maybe <2:07:09 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: what would change look like for you <2:07:16 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: well I don't <2:07:21 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I haven't really seen alcohol as a problem in the past but I guess you know it could be associated with me blacking out which isn't good I could probably <2:07:31 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: you know getting if I drive getting an accident or fall and injure myself so <2:07:37 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: that wouldn't be good <2:07:40 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: um <2:07:41 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay suppose they were like you would have blocked out again <2:07:41 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: far as change what that looks like for me well maybe <2:07:45 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: if <2:07:45 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: maybe I should drink a little less on the weekends <2:07:49 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: if that's what's called a black owl <2:07:51 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: it's perfect <2:07:56 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: oh could be bad if I fall I mean <2:07:57 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: would that be like <2:08:03 PM> Grace Li - Doctor: okay so what I'm hearing is that you enjoy drinking because all your friends do and you're able to hang out with them but you're also you also have blackout in the past and you're afraid of blocking out again <2:08:05 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: I've been lucky so far I haven't gotten injured or anything blacking out but and if I'm if I'm out at a bar or something someone could steal my wallet or <2:08:16 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: you know I could fall in Anger myself or if I'm not thinking straight maybe getting that vehicle and drive and that wouldn't be safe either <2:08:39 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: yes <2:08:43 PM> William Deruelle - Patient: that's correct <2:08:50 PM> Alex Johnston: okay we can we're good there <2:08:54 PM> Alex Johnston: okay ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 27, 2026, 2:08:58 PM
