Buchinsky-Doctor: are your weeks going <3:38:32 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I'm good you know I'm pretty busy during the week a lot of cases a lot of prep and then I would say I'm like the weekend I just you know I use that time to kind of relax decompress <3:38:33 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: good <3:38:33 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: pretty <3:38:47 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh yeah um well I'd say usually um you know on the weekends all go out with some friends I have some drinks yeah probably my social life is is how I deal with most my stress <3:38:47 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: well I imagine you know it's a pretty stressful job to be an attorney tell me how you typically deal with distress and like how you like online <3:39:12 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay and when you go out with your friends how many drinks do you typically have <3:39:14 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh you know kind of depends I'd say <3:39:20 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: five to eight okay and is that I'm just one night or is that on like a Friday night Saturday night Sunday night <3:39:25 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: probably anywhere from like on a typical night like <3:39:30 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: five to like eight Maybe <3:39:35 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um that's it's probably probably Friday Saturday an occasional Thursday if I have that Friday off and then <3:39:48 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay all right and I guess how do you feel about that <3:39:52 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: Sundays are kind of the recovery day I would say <3:39:56 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um good you know <3:40:05 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: uh <3:40:07 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: like going out with my friends having fun <3:40:12 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know occasionally Sundays are not all that fun definitely get the Sunday scaries and maybe not feeling so great but usually I'm okay I recover enough to go get back to work on Monday <3:40:24 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay okay <3:40:28 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: sure <3:40:30 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: I <3:40:30 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: and <3:40:32 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: wanted to if it's okay with the I want to ask a couple more specific questions about your alcohol consumption <3:40:41 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: how often during the last have you found that you were not able to stop drinking once you started <3:40:42 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh <3:40:51 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he <3:40:54 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh I guess it's kind of frequent <3:40:54 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know <3:40:58 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I just I don't really like the feeling of like getting sober like you know you you drank and I just kind of tend to keep drinking throughout the night to kind of keep up you know the buzz so <3:41:10 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay okay and when you after you drink do you find that you have any tasks that you can't get to <3:41:11 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I guess a lot <3:41:18 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um <3:41:25 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: on a weekend or even your week because of it <3:41:30 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I mean yeah sometimes you know that Sunday I don't get like <3:41:37 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know the housework done or <3:41:40 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know maybe Monday I'll be a little bit behind on a case but it's not something that I can't like makeup or during the week <3:41:49 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: no um no I don't drink in the morning and I actually really limit drinking during the week at most I'll have like a glass of wine at dinner but that's I kind of a rule I've made for myself that I don't drink during the week <3:41:49 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay and have you ever felt like you needed to have a drink in the morning to kind of get yourself going or wake up <3:41:56 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <3:42:07 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay um and then <3:42:11 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um all <3:42:14 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: how often I suppose are in the last year have you been on able to remember what happened the night before because of the drinking <3:42:22 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: here okay <3:42:25 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I you know it happens maybe like every other weekend or so where I kind of things get a little fuzzy <3:42:33 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: know <3:42:35 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: maybe can't remember all the details <3:42:39 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: very rarely is it do I have no memories of the night and you know wake up at home like maybe a couple times a year but <3:42:39 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: yeah <3:42:47 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: have I'll have some fuzzy moments every couple weeks <3:42:48 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: it's important moments has anyone been injured or yourself injured from drinking <3:42:52 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh no no <3:42:56 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: not good good and has a friend relative or doctor ever been concerned about your drinking or totally cut down in the past <3:42:57 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um <3:43:09 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I guess my my husband Todd has he kind of <3:43:14 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <3:43:15 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know what prefer I don't drink quite as much on the weekends he he drinks but not you know not all that much I'll have a couple drinks and you know we've gone into some fights and stuff um where he's <3:43:29 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: me to cut back I guess <3:43:33 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay well thank you Carly for discussing your drinking patterns with me <3:43:41 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: I actually used your responses to in this test that we call the audit which is <3:43:41 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: the <3:43:50 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: alcohol screening questionnaire <3:43:52 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: and this just gives us an objective score to quantify your drinking and your scored 18 based on your responses which <3:43:53 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um you know I've thought about it before um <3:44:04 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: does pose some risk and warrants us to at least discuss drinking habit together today <3:44:14 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: so you know it seems <3:44:19 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: us on our in this conversation you don't have any specific concerns about alcohol or anything <3:44:26 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay do you have any desire to change your habits at all <3:44:38 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: but <3:44:40 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I don't know it's just kind of how I relax <3:44:44 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: handle my stress <3:44:45 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: if <3:44:45 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: sure sure where do you see <3:44:46 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh <3:44:50 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: let's suppose you continue the your current drinking pattern where do you see yourself or what do you see the result of that being <3:44:59 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: open so you have some concerns about your marriage <3:45:03 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: well I could see maybe it being a bit of a problem with my marriage <3:45:11 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I don't know right now I'm handling things well with work but <3:45:15 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: harder <3:45:15 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I don't know sometimes it does seem to get a little <3:45:19 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: to bounce back after the weekends so <3:45:24 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh yeah yeah probably <3:45:27 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: but if they were continues but also potentially with work <3:45:31 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <3:45:35 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh well if I was drinking like on the weekdays <3:45:35 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: probably <3:45:36 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay and <3:45:39 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: it and let's suppose that <3:45:43 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: the behavior were to improve what do you feel all right let me take that back let's suppose that you've changed your behavior and <3:45:43 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: you started <3:45:58 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: to drink more <3:46:00 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: what do you feel with all of that <3:46:08 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: we would really struggle getting everything I needed to do for work done I think yeah that would be really hard <3:46:17 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know <3:46:17 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh I could probably <3:46:17 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: yeah yeah I think it's a it's a valid concern and an already you you seem to be doing a really good job of balancing work with social activity <3:46:28 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: um and then let's suppose that you decided to lower your ranking pattern to fewer drinks in the week <3:46:36 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: not cut it out just fewer great what would that look like <3:46:43 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <3:46:44 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: be a lot more productive like at home I could probably get ahead on some of my cases which <3:46:51 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I don't know might help I've been trying to <3:46:54 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: work towards a promotion of like partner so maybe that could you know I could get ahead on things and impress you know <3:47:03 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: and the partners more <3:47:04 PM> Alex Johnston: okay okay <3:47:06 PM> Alex Johnston: can we can stop there <3:47:06 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <3:47:08 PM> Alex Johnston: um I just ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 27, 2026, 3:47:13 PM
