Patient: it you know I think he's doing pretty good <4:07:14 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: one thing <4:07:24 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: yeah and what what are some of his favorite foods that he likes to enjoy I know you said you know chicken fingers mac and cheese soda but like what is what else <4:07:28 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: we're kind of struggling with is um he's really picky I I can't really get them to try many you know fruits veggies things like that he mainly eats like <4:07:43 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: chicken nuggets mac and cheese a lot of snacks chips pop that kind of stuff but I kind of just figured you know <4:07:52 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: least I can get them to eat that <4:08:05 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: yeah well he loves ice cream he <4:08:09 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he loves ice cream he will kind of get upset you know if I don't give him some <4:08:16 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: every night we're trying to cut back I'm trying not to do every night <4:08:20 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: but sometimes you just really will like throw a temper tantrum and I'm just <4:08:20 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know <4:08:22 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: right <4:08:26 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: so stress I can't deal with that so <4:08:29 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: for the past couple weeks he's kind of been having it every night but I know we're trying we're trying to cut back a little bit on that <4:08:35 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <4:08:35 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <4:08:37 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: and aside from those Foods so it seems like each night there's some ice cream enjoy some soda drinking <4:08:45 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he I mean he's a so he's kind of <4:08:48 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: tell me a little bit more about how he is when he doesn't get these Foods <4:09:01 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he can be a bit of a terror he you know <4:09:02 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: yeah <4:09:06 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he screams cries you know slams doors you know it's you know normal kids stuff I guess but it's <4:09:14 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: you <4:09:17 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know I work <4:09:20 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: come home and it's just kind of a lot to deal with so sometimes I just give in <4:09:20 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: mm-hmm and what are what are the barriers do you what barriers are there to change <4:09:25 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh <4:09:37 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh well <4:09:39 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: I mean <4:09:42 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: probably <4:09:44 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: like time wise um <4:09:47 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: path <4:09:49 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know it's kind of just easier to feed a mac and cheese then to you know spend an hour <4:09:52 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay so mainly time and then I'm getting the sense to that there's some stress involved when he may not get the foods he likes and then that might just cause General tension in the home <4:09:57 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: like dealing with the crying and everything trying to get him to eat you know the meals that I make for myself and the rest of the family <4:10:07 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: yeah I would say just time <4:10:11 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: yeah I mean it's just a huge ordeal every time so <4:10:29 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: what do you see what does this happening if the current diet continues <4:10:32 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: yeah I kind of have haven't been fighting him as much on it <4:10:36 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: oh well I mean I know <4:10:49 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he's gaining weight you showed me the growth curve earlier so I know he's kind of you know getting up there <4:10:58 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: he does he has been telling me recently he doesn't like going outside to play as much as he used to I think some of the neighbor kids are teasing him a little bit about his weight so I think <4:10:58 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know <4:11:04 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <4:11:10 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: here <4:11:13 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: that <4:11:15 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: we don't change the diet maybe that <4:11:17 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: could be you know become a bigger problem <4:11:19 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: yeah yeah and I appreciate your reflection thank you <4:11:29 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: now <4:11:31 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: it seems that you recognize the eating habits the Courtney habits may be harmful in the long term <4:11:42 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: um where do you feel on zero being not willing to change and tend being I've been changed this today for my son where are you in terms of altering Exotics <4:11:50 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: um you know I would say I'm probably like <4:11:55 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay <4:12:00 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: probably like a six or seven I know it's not <4:12:04 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: yeah okay I I totally resemble I know you're busy <4:12:04 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: the healthiest thing for him and I have tried you know sometimes I really do try to limit you know the snacks and I try to <4:12:16 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: you know encourage the fruits and veggies but <4:12:20 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: it it just kind of becomes a battle every day and I don't always have the energy for it <4:12:32 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: and also I know you want to be the best parent you can be so the fact that you seem to be <4:12:39 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: willing to change overall is reassuring <4:12:45 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: and I think today we can discuss possibilities of how we can get there and make some of those barriers that we talked about maybe being time and stress how we can manage those so we can have the best outcomes for your son <4:12:58 PM> Carli Carey- Patient: yeah I mean honestly I'd really appreciate that <4:13:01 PM> Alex Johnston: okay <4:13:01 PM> David Buchinsky-Doctor: okay okay good sorry time ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 27, 2026, 4:13:11 PM
