patient joined the conference <8:04:16 PM> Mallory joined the conference <8:04:16 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor joined the conference <8:04:17 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: I'm okay <8:04:19 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: Hi Megan how are you doing today <8:04:23 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: here um how have you been since our last appointment <8:04:24 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: um I guess I've been okay yeah I <8:04:32 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: okay I see some concerns with medication today can you tell me more about that <8:04:33 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: let's just say okay <8:04:35 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: yeah I just haven't been taking my meds often or as much as they were prescribed <8:04:45 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: mmm can you tell me why can you tell me more about why <8:04:46 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: yeah I guess I was just frustrated because I have a lot of medications it's hard for me at my old age to just take a bunch of medications I know I need them because I have a lot of medical conditions that the doctor say I have but you know it's just a lot of medications and sometimes I think about do I really need all of them <8:05:03 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: hello <8:05:13 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: hmm okay so kind of just like I know it's very hard to keep track I always forget stuff myself is it kind of like you forget to take them or if you forget one to take them or you don't feel like organizing which ones you need to take kind of like is there a specific <8:05:14 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: here um no I guess I'm just frustrated because I know I'm taking the medications for my blood pressure but my blood pressure still high I know I'm still taking like the medication for the diabetes and I thought that would help me lose weight but I'm still not losing weight so I guess it's frustrated because I'm not where I thought I would be it's like do the medications even make a difference if my blood pressure still high and if my weight's the same I don't even know if it's helping <8:05:30 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: is there something that's really like making it difficult to take them I guess it's a better question <8:05:36 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: mmm <8:06:02 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: like <8:06:02 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah no I totally get that especially when you feel like <8:06:06 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: you're taking so many I guess the best way to freeze it is my medications or supplemental they help out but they are not like the end all be all and some of those conditions the number one thing that we talked about is like lifestyle modification so <8:06:13 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: yeah I know we talked about that at the last visit and I know we talked about like maybe taking some walks and I did try doing that I don't know I guess I just don't like taking walks alone and I just I want once and it didn't really do anything for me I walked around for a little bit and I just didn't feel like it made a difference after that one time and then I know we also talked about eating better and I did try but you know healthy food is just a lot more expensive than I thought it would be and it's a lot easier to just buy something in a box for a couple dollars and having to buy a bunch of fresh vegetables to make a salad so sometimes it's just easier to go with what's cheaper <8:06:21 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: kind of just time where are you at where with lifestyle modifications for your conditions <8:06:27 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: mmm <8:06:36 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: okay <8:06:40 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: mm-hmm <8:06:57 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: I agree it can be really tricky just kind of talking about like moving around I know you said you don't like to walk by yourself um is there any like form of movement that you're more comfortable with or that you enjoy or something that you can stay consistent with <8:07:07 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: hmm yeah I used to have a dog that I would walk around the block but I ended up giving that dog to my sister but I did like taking walks with my dog <8:07:32 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: he is there a reason why you give the doctor your sister <8:07:34 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: um no the house was just getting a little busy with my grandkids so I just thought it might be easier <8:07:43 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: okay um are you I guess on a scale of one to ten how open are you to adding like an exercise regime into your life <8:07:46 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: mmm <8:07:46 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: I think <8:07:58 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: probably <8:07:58 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: like <8:08:00 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: for because I know it would be good for me and I know we talked about how it would help my diabetes would also help lower my bread my blood pressure and I know you said it would also just improve my mood so yeah probably like a four it's something I want to do <8:08:13 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: okay <8:08:15 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yes which is always good um I think for us like kind of maybe just finding something movement that is something that you can stay consistent with and that's more realistic for you is if it's even like walking around the house or like I know you don't like being alone so like a lot of patients like to go to a mall and do apps there <8:08:28 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: mmm <8:08:36 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: and we can be open to exploring do you <8:08:40 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: and you said it's a four is there anything that would kind of make that a five or six for you <8:08:49 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: I think maybe if I just found activities that I could do with other people like maybe I could just take my grandkids on around the block maybe I could just go with them to the playground or your suggestion about them all that might hold to just be around other people <8:08:59 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah <8:09:04 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah and I'm sure also like your grandkids would be it wouldn't just be movement for you but to them creating memories with their with their with their Grandma so it would be <8:09:13 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: here <8:09:15 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: it could hit two things at once <8:09:18 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: kind of building off the die I know you said that like obviously there's takeout and stuff like that is more convenient than find getting fresh fruits and vegetables kind of like <8:09:19 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: yeah I think I would be interested in kind of talking more about that because I always thought all fast food is bad or all packages bags so I thought it didn't matter which one I pick if if it's all packaged it's all going to be the same regardless or if I order takeout it's all the same because it's from the outside so it's gonna have a lot of salt and stuff <8:09:30 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: have you ever thought maybe like you can still do the convenience aspect and maybe just choosing the option that has less carbs or less sugars or is it cat is that something that you would be interested in doing <8:09:42 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: you <8:10:00 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah we have sorry <8:10:03 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: yeah <8:10:05 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: oh I was just gonna say I think that's a good point that me thinking the one that's less <8:10:06 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah I can <8:10:09 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah we can definitely address that because there are better options for even convenient food what kind of just going back to the medication I know you said like it's something is like it's just a lot and you don't feel like it's doing anything for you I kind of like obviously the lifestyle will impact that they both play a role I know you had mentioned that you <8:10:09 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: were <8:10:10 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: oh no now that you mention it it was more of an on and off thing <8:10:31 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: consistent with the medication or is it just like an on and off <8:10:35 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah that makes sense just so you know just so for future so it kind of takes consistent use of most of those medications to kind of see a difference and even sometimes I've seen the patients were like if they become consistent with the medication it's easier for them to move around more because it helps their condition I know you have the hypertension that diabetes is COPD so kind of just like what is on a scale of one to 10 right now I know after what we talked how motivated are you to more at least try like a month of consistency with your medication <8:11:12 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: I think after our conversation probably like a five or six because I think you have a good point that I never really gave it a fair shot I have kind of always taken it whenever I wanted to <8:11:22 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: mm-hmm <8:11:26 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: mm-hmm and is there a like something like a pill organizer or something that we could use to make it more easy for you to just take it at certain times and have it already <8:11:31 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: yeah that's something I could look into my grandkids talk to me about that but I didn't really I didn't really talk about it with them too much <8:11:45 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: yeah we can definitely look into organizing it easier and kind of like <8:11:53 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: are making as easy as possible for you and then kind of just seeing how consistency plays the role especially with the lifestyle modifications <8:12:02 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: is there anything else that you feel like is causing you to use your meds less <8:12:08 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: know I think that was it it was just I didn't really think they were working and I don't know I just felt like it wasn't making a difference <8:12:14 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: he with some consistent use we can see that difference but if not you're always will welcome to change up your medication list thank you <8:12:19 PM> Megan sharifi - patient: okay thank you <8:12:26 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Doctor: I think we're done ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 28, 2026, 8:12:33 PM
