doctor joined the conference <8:17:53 PM> Mallory joined the conference <8:17:53 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient joined the conference <8:17:54 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: he seen it how are you doing <8:17:56 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: good are you doing <8:17:58 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: good how have you and your son been since the last time we talked <8:17:59 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: oh <8:18:04 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay what do you mean by that <8:18:05 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: good it's just getting a little difficult to kind of like deal with <8:18:10 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: children and the girl like just dealing with and disciplining them I found that's kind of harder and harder the older he gets <8:18:22 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: you know like he's <8:18:25 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: he doesn't really listen to me when I try to like for food suggestions or playing it's just like getting a lot to juggle so I've just kind of been caving in to what he wants <8:18:33 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay I hear you yeah he's eight years old this is kind of some kind of be a tough age where the kids have a lot of energy and they they can throw tantrums and they can yeah I hear what you're saying <8:18:49 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: and it looks like looking at his growth chart he isn't the 90th percentile for his weight and <8:18:53 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: um I feel like it's getting worse so I wasn't always that high but like he <8:18:56 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: height <8:18:58 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: wait how does that make you feel does that is that pretty similar to how he's always been <8:19:12 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I'm not surprised because I can see it on him and I see how much he's eating and I see how little he's exercising or playing with other kids so I'm not surprised but it is getting more out of control than I would like it to <8:19:15 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay so you would like it to kind of be more level okay so what are some of your goals for him like what would you like to see happen in the next year with your son <8:19:37 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I think number one just kind of seeing him be more playful more movement just even playing out with kids a little more he's a little embarrassed because he is one of the bigger kids in his class to go make those moves I think I just want to <8:19:49 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay I hear you those are some good options what are some of the ways that you've kind of encouraged exercise with him or just getting activity and movement <8:19:51 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: stall that it's okay even if you are and then just making healthier choices not just about weight just so he gets the proper nutrients for growing <8:20:01 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: mm-hmm I kind of originally want the route of <8:20:12 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: playing with friends and he just is a little embarrassed or maybe like a sports team and he was again also a little more than embarrassed side so now I think maybe just like starting off with some individual <8:20:22 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: yeah <8:20:25 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: individual exercises might be it but also I feel bad because you know he comes to me and tells me that it's not like fun when it's just by himself so I don't really know how to approach that <8:20:36 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: it's okay have you guys ever considered exercising together or maybe you can take him when you do your workouts or your walks <8:20:38 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: you know I haven't really thought about that that's a good idea <8:20:45 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay yeah and then tell me a little bit about his diet I know you said he hasn't been eating the best and he prefers like snacks and kind of those kinds of like that are easily readily available <8:20:59 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: mm-hmm he's a very picky eater he doesn't prefer meals like protein vegetables fruit just kind of like processed snacks is all he wants to eat and he like obviously that's not gonna fill him up so he just eats a lot of it but it's kind of hard because I don't want to starve my child because he refuses to see the other stuff but I don't want him to like I said be deprived nutrients <8:21:18 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay I hear you what are some of the ways that you've kind of tried to introduce more healthy eating habits with him or have you tried any any methods or any different ways to do that <8:21:25 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I haven't really tried much just offering him the food that we eat for dinner <8:21:37 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: it's just hard because he throws a temper tantrum every time we <8:21:39 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay yeah so it seems like you want there to be a change is that right you want to make some changes <8:21:41 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: try to get him to eat something new <8:21:51 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: yeah <8:21:52 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: it how do you feel like what would his future look like if in the next like five years there were no changes made and he just kind of went going the same route what do you think his future would look like <8:22:02 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I feel like he would definitely struggle with over being overweight and being obese for <8:22:03 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay <8:22:08 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: for a long time if that were the case just because habits form now <8:22:13 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I don't want him to have that struggle <8:22:16 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: um I think number one kind of just like setting our foot down on just giving him all the process snacks and then maybe kind of including him more when we make meals and seeing like what seeing if he would want to join us making the meals or if there's like certain meals that he prefers or certain <8:22:17 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay do you have any suggestions or any ideas that you think maybe you guys can do at home maybe you and your husband that you guys can do at home to kind of help him pick some better foods to eat or maybe offer some more nutritious nutritious snacks <8:22:49 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: m <8:22:49 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: enforcing him to try vegetables and seeing if there's at least one that he'll like <8:22:55 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: yeah I think that's that's a good idea a lot of times for kids if they're involved in the making of the food they're more likely to eat it because they kind of know how it was made they had hand in the process so I think that's a really good idea <8:23:09 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: um <8:23:09 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: he doesn't get his process snacks then he'll throw a temper tantrum <8:23:11 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: sorry lemon pink um <8:23:16 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay and you mentioned he's been throwing some temper Tran temper tantrums is that right <8:23:23 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay what are well how do you usually handle that <8:23:26 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: honestly I just cave in like sometimes like you come from work and you're just so tired you just don't feel like dealing with it <8:23:35 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: yeah that's understandable so after you've had a long day at work coming home and dealing with that I know it can be a lot <8:23:36 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: mmm <8:23:44 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: you ever tried maybe I didn't even mentioned like standing your ground and just not giving in have you ever tried that before and kind of seeing how he reacts to that <8:23:44 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I've tried it once <8:23:54 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: and I've kind of seen more like things that's when the temper tantrum started <8:23:59 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: and when they started I just didn't feel like dealing with it <8:24:01 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: all right I got you <8:24:04 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: but now that you say it out loud I feel like I need to like not be afraid of the temper tantrums anymore <8:24:06 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay <8:24:13 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: as he's getting older and he gets into his teen years all times if the temper tantrums continue it can lead to a lot of aggression and I know that's not something you would want because he's your son yeah okay I think that makes sense what are some changes you think you can Implement and like before the next time I see you in a few months what are some things you think you can do <8:24:14 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: yeah yeah <8:24:25 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: the <8:24:33 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: I think Bangla is processed food at the grocery store so that the only availability is is more healthy food and then just kind of including him in more exercise and movement with myself <8:24:38 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay yeah yeah I think there's some good suggestions and a good starting place and then at that next visit we can kind of see his height and his weight chart and see if anything's changed that sound good <8:24:47 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: like just yeah <8:24:49 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: he <8:25:00 PM> Megan sharifi - doctor: okay well thank you <8:25:00 PM> Zayneb Hussein - Patient: thank you ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 28, 2026, 8:25:06 PM
