Patient joined the conference <3:20:20 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor joined the conference <3:20:20 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: all right hello sir thank you for coming in today how are you <3:20:29 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: all right let's see here yep we're good <3:20:37 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: I'm doing all right today how are you <3:20:39 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: ah you know it's just a cold cold ass Friday here but it's been worse <3:20:41 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: it is <3:20:49 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: so tell me what kind of brings you in today <3:20:50 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: oh yeah you got me on all these medications and I'm kind of tired of taking them <3:20:52 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yeah I can imagine I see your list it's it's a lot how are you handling it <3:20:58 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: it is quite long <3:21:03 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yes it is it is quite long how are you handling it <3:21:04 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: I get frustrated I don't always take them because I don't know I just get tired of it <3:21:07 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm yeah I can imagine with keeping mentally keeping track of all of these it can be exhausting how have you been able to like keep I mean I know you mentioned that you've been able to keep up with them religiously but like how many how often would you say you miss a dose of a given medication on average <3:21:21 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: oh <3:21:33 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm <3:21:34 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: I don't know probably you know I'm on probably four or five pills and <3:21:41 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: it's not the same one every day but I probably miss at least one a day <3:21:43 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm okay <3:21:47 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: uh some days I just don't take them all if I'm busy doing stuff I'll just be like I'll do it the next day <3:21:50 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm yeah I can imagine with the number of medications you're on keeping track of it is feels like you're juggling maybe a little too much of the same time right <3:22:03 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: mm-hmm yep for sure <3:22:06 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: you <3:22:07 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: up you say it's gonna help me and make me healthier and prevent some I think you mentioned some complications in the past but I don't know I don't even when I do take them I don't feel a difference <3:22:08 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: so you know why we have you on the medications that you're on <3:22:12 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm have you noticed any side effects of medications <3:22:25 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: it no not not that I think of <3:22:29 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: okay <3:22:32 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: just don't like taking them <3:22:34 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: okay <3:22:34 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: so <3:22:35 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: I have one it it kind of helped a little bit but I still got to fill it up you know <3:22:37 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: have you tried anything as far as like pillboxes or anything like that to help you kind of track things <3:22:47 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm yeah is there anyone at home to help you <3:22:54 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: oh my wife she could help me <3:22:58 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: okay all right so the meds obviously are super super important we have you on them for a reason and I know you mentioned earlier you kind of know why just walk me through like what in your mind like if you did stop and we did cut back on some of the medications do you think anything bad or good could happen from that <3:23:01 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: probably <3:23:03 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: mmm if I if I'm in my current state and I just cut back I don't know if there would be any good other than I would be as frustrated <3:23:23 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: uh-huh <3:23:36 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: the bad though I mean you've you've mentioned some things down the road that you know if I don't take these medications what could happen and they don't sound too good but <3:23:47 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yeah yeah that makes sense so I'm looking at the medications list obviously you have the diabetes high blood pressure the coronary artery disease <3:23:47 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: guy said you know whether I'm taking them or not taking them I feel pretty much the same I don't <3:23:54 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: better when I take them and I don't feel worse when I don't take them if that makes sense <3:24:10 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: things are kind of tricky obviously because they're <3:24:13 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: not things you physically feel they're silent right <3:24:14 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: a potentially that would definitely reduce how many pills I have to take so I think that could be a good idea I mean is there <3:24:17 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: I could look into for you if this could help you and just tell me if you'd like to explore this option is sometimes medications can come in combination so that's just one pill rather than multiple that you have to track would you want to talk about something like that <3:24:32 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yeah <3:24:39 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yeah <3:24:42 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: is there anything because I don't like taking pills and even if I even if we reduce them I still have to take pills right is there is there I don't know something else that we could do <3:24:55 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: know <3:24:56 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yeah so you mentioned just a second ago that I want to touch on real quick which is not what like you to take pills is like kind of just explore that and tell me a little bit more about why you don't like the taking the pills is it something like scheduling them and like keeping track and then can be very difficult or is it just like the act of like taking a pill that some people just don't like just because they just don't like thinking about it that makes any sense <3:25:19 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: a kind of both it's the schedule of taking it I <3:25:29 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: money you have to go get them I have to try to remember to take them it's just kind of a lot to take <3:25:37 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: and <3:25:38 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: liked when I was younger and I didn't have to take pills it was much simpler and I would I want to get back to that point or as close to that point as possible <3:25:40 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm <3:25:45 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: but long <3:25:45 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm yeah yeah I totally see where you're coming from with that um but as I mentioned earlier if we we can explore the options of combination pills or with something like diabetes there are injectables if we can get you off of pill forms and just do injectable at once every three months and you don't want to take any pills for that and we could explore that option but just kind of like walk me through like what do you think would happen if we were to just stop taking our the if you were just stop taking the medications as they are right now do you think anything like in the long term could happen I know you mentioned that you don't feel anything right now <3:26:27 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: term do you think there could be any like bad consequences <3:26:30 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: potentially I think one of my friends he had diabetes and <3:26:35 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: didn't <3:26:37 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: he really takes do good care of himself I think he he had some foot issues with feeling and he might have had to get I don't know like some Toes or his foot amputated or something like that because <3:26:51 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: he just he just lost feeling <3:26:55 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: lose <3:26:55 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: I think yeah like I said I think he had diabetes I have that so that doesn't sound too good having to <3:27:01 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: is there anything in life right now that's kind of interfering with your ability to keep up with the meds that we could talk about <3:27:03 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: foot that sounds like a pretty life life changing event for him <3:27:10 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: no I don't I don't think anything's interfering with <3:27:15 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mm-hmm <3:27:19 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: taking them there's yeah no I don't think so <3:27:20 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: okay it's really just like scheduling and like keeping up with it sounds like it could be because there's a lot of medications here it sounds like it could be juggling a lot for one person right <3:27:23 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: yeah yeah it is <3:27:34 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: Okay so <3:27:37 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: mmm <3:27:39 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: trying to think we could just go and Jack tolls for some of these that could make it <3:27:42 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: if you're good I'm good <3:27:46 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: yeah okay <3:27:49 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: I saw his own as <3:27:51 PM> Brian Johns - Doctor: I don't even know how to motivate this situation <3:27:52 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: look at it <3:27:55 PM> Evan Hartman - Patient: yeah as I was trying to be a little tough sorry ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Jan 30, 2026, 3:28:19 PM
