Doctor: okay <2:42:58 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay so how much are you normally drinking on the weekend <2:43:02 PM> Ananya - Patient: usually not that much probably just like four or five beers <2:43:10 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay is that like Friday Saturday Sunday like each day <2:43:18 PM> Ananya - Patient: I'm usually <2:43:20 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay <2:43:25 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: through kind of why you do that what situations you're in <2:43:28 PM> Ananya - Patient: um I mean I just like drinking and how it makes me feel I don't really feel like I'm stressed about anything but it's just something I kind of always done so I want to keep doing it <2:43:39 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:43:41 PM> Ananya - Patient: I mean my husband doesn't really drink a lot every now and then you'll have a drink with me but sometimes I go out with my friends and they'll drink too but I mean it doesn't seem like anyone's drinking as much as I do so then I don't really know they're having as much fun as me <2:43:42 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: and do you do that <2:43:44 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: with other people <2:43:48 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay um and is this something <2:44:09 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: like on a scale of one to ten that you would consider <2:44:14 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: be decreasing or stopping <2:44:17 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay <2:44:18 PM> Ananya - Patient: um <2:44:19 PM> Ananya - Patient: say maybe like a two I don't really think it's a problem so I don't know why I would need to cut down or stop <2:44:30 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: and I guess why would it be a 2 and not a one <2:44:34 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm and what kind of negative <2:44:34 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: things <2:44:35 PM> Ananya - Patient: I mean people have said stuff to me in the past my husband is definitely commented on how much I drink sometimes but <2:44:35 PM> Ananya - Patient: I just <2:44:42 PM> Ananya - Patient: don't feel like it's a problem so that's why I don't I don't see a reason for me to quit <2:44:48 PM> Ananya - Patient: and <2:44:48 PM> Ananya - Patient: um I know it's not really good for your liver but I don't from what my doctors tell me I don't have any problems with my liver <2:44:52 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: you know can come from alcohol <2:44:54 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:45:03 PM> Ananya - Patient: and I'm sure it has a lot of other bad effects like can make you gain weight but <2:45:10 PM> Ananya - Patient: mean I've gained a little bit of weight but I just think that's probably because I don't eat as well and I'm not the best with exercising <2:45:18 PM> Ananya - Patient: um well since I drink on the weekends it's nice to have a way to relax after a long work week <2:45:18 PM> Ananya - Patient: and <2:45:19 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay <2:45:21 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: um <2:45:23 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: tell me kind of what you like about using alcohol <2:45:37 PM> Ananya - Patient: and I just kind of like how it makes me feel I feel <2:45:42 PM> Ananya - Patient: like I don't think about my stressors and I can just kind of let loose on the weekends which is a nice feeling <2:45:45 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm do you have any other strategies you use for dealing with that kind of stress or relaxing <2:45:57 PM> Ananya - Patient: um <2:45:57 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:46:00 PM> Ananya - Patient: sometimes I will try to do some of my hobbies which are <2:46:07 PM> Ananya - Patient: I just <2:46:07 PM> Ananya - Patient: knitting or I'll try to take a walk outside and maybe just listen to some music but <2:46:14 PM> Ananya - Patient: feel like <2:46:15 PM> Ananya - Patient: those don't make me feel the same way they don't they're did they don't feel like true stress relievers <2:46:22 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay <2:46:25 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: and <2:46:25 PM> Ananya - Patient: me <2:46:26 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: with all you know about the potential negative side effects of alcohol <2:46:31 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: um <2:46:33 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: do you have any fears of under having any of those changes in the future <2:46:36 PM> Ananya - Patient: it um you mean like the bad things that could happen to me <2:46:39 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: yeah like the health it for example <2:46:45 PM> Ananya - Patient: yeah I do think about it every now and then because I want to be healthy for my kids and my husband but <2:46:48 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:46:55 PM> Ananya - Patient: like <2:46:55 PM> Ananya - Patient: I feel like until I've seen <2:46:58 PM> Ananya - Patient: bad effect on my body I probably won't stop drinking until then <2:47:03 PM> Ananya - Patient: you know <2:47:06 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: so I guess <2:47:08 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: have you noticed any like memory changes or anything like that when you use your alcohol <2:47:15 PM> Ananya - Patient: um <2:47:17 PM> Ananya - Patient: I mean now that you say that I feel like sometimes at the end of the weekend I <2:47:22 PM> Ananya - Patient: the dog usually remember a whole lot of what's what happened or maybe sometimes I forget how much I've drank or who I was drinking with but other than that I feel like my memory is pretty good during the week <2:47:30 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: okay and do you have any concerns that by the time you start to see those Health changes <2:47:36 PM> Ananya - Patient: I mean yeah that it does sound pretty concerning I guess it would be nice to <2:47:42 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: there might not be as much that you can do about it <2:47:52 PM> Ananya - Patient: up or during less now so that I can prevent things from happening down the line <2:47:54 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:47:58 PM> Ananya - Patient: if I can't change it in the future then I guess I would have to make the change now <2:47:59 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: yeah and would you be willing to make any of those changes starting today even if it's just small <2:48:03 PM> Ananya - Patient: um I think I'd be willing to I just I'm maybe don't know what I could change or how to change this like in a smart way <2:48:08 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: yeah I guess do you have any ideas for <2:48:23 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: other strategies to like distract yourself from drinking <2:48:27 PM> Ian Carmody - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:48:28 PM> Ananya - Patient: um I guess like I said I could use or do more of my hobbies like for stress relief such as knitting or going on walks I can probably see if there's something I can do maybe involving my husband or my kids that it's more of a group activity <2:48:45 PM> Ananya - Patient: because sometimes I feel like if I'm alone I do start to drink on the weekends ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Mar 9, 2026, 2:48:54 PM
