Doctor joined the conference <2:57:06 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient joined the conference <2:57:07 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay um <2:57:10 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: so <2:57:15 PM> John Stout - Doctor: so we've asked John a lot of questions and I've done a physical for him and everything but now I just wanted to check in with you and ask what questions or concerns you have today after everything's been done <2:57:29 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay what concerns you about that <2:57:31 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I know when the ma was doing his height and weight she said he's at the 95th percentile for height in the 50th percentile for weight <2:57:44 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and my wife and I have been <2:57:47 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: concerned about <2:57:47 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: him <2:57:49 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: getting bigger so I guess that would be my concern <2:57:53 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well a couple things one is <2:57:57 PM> John Stout - Doctor: yeah <2:58:02 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: we hope he just outgrows it in other words that he <2:58:09 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: how does it gets taller <2:58:11 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: maybe his weight will be more in line with his height so he won't be so chubby <2:58:16 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and the other is we've heard <2:58:19 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: him <2:58:21 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: the it almost sounds was like maybe he's getting bullied by some kids making fun of <2:58:22 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay <2:58:27 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: fun of him being bigger <2:58:35 PM> John Stout - Doctor: tell me more about that <2:58:37 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay <2:58:39 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: well nobody wants their kid to get bullied <2:58:43 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: and <2:58:46 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know we don't want him to have health problems <2:58:49 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: being overweight either so <2:58:54 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: guess <2:58:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I guess we just have concerns going forward in both of those areas <2:59:01 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it's obviously if he's being bullied because of his weight then either way his his weight is the problem <2:59:04 PM> John Stout - Doctor: sure I can understand where you're coming from <2:59:10 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: boy that's been a challenge <2:59:14 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay um <2:59:16 PM> John Stout - Doctor: but things have you tried for him in terms of kind of getting his weight <2:59:23 PM> John Stout - Doctor: down <2:59:25 PM> John Stout - Doctor: mm-hmm <2:59:32 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: our diets aren't perfect but <2:59:35 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: we try to have healthy foods particularly at our dinner meal <2:59:40 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: but John <2:59:43 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: like he turns his nose up but anything other than <2:59:47 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know check a nuggets or other fast food or chips <2:59:53 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: deserts <2:59:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: so it's just been a <2:59:59 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I guess you know a battle to try to get him to eat anything healthy <3:00:05 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: or to keep him from eating too much of unhealthy stuff <3:00:11 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay <3:00:13 PM> John Stout - Doctor: I hear your concerns I just want to ask what <3:00:17 PM> John Stout - Doctor: what in what ways could we help you with these concerns <3:00:19 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: oh that's a great question <3:00:22 PM> John Stout - Doctor: mm-hmm <3:00:28 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I guess I don't know if you have parenting advice <3:00:34 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: um <3:00:35 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: he's he's certainly stubborn when it comes food <3:00:43 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay um what does he do for exercise if anything right now <3:00:47 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: but I can't say he's doing a lot <3:00:52 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay how how does he usually spend his days <3:00:59 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it's kind of the neighborhood we live in there are some kids that you know seems like more in the past they would be out there playing together <3:01:10 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: running around <3:01:12 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: but <3:01:12 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: so I don't you know where we've been kind of hesitant to ask him too much <3:01:20 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: those are some of the kids he's not one to play with so much he also we've asked him you know when there are more organized sports or whatever <3:01:20 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: if he <3:01:32 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: to do those things but <3:01:33 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: typically he'll say no I don't want to play basketball or no I don't want to play soccer <3:01:38 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: um I don't know how much of that is <3:01:42 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know <3:01:45 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: not wanting it made fun of or <3:01:48 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: he just doesn't <3:01:50 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: have the energy or ability to keep up with the other kids <3:01:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: yeah well school days it's <3:02:04 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: going to school <3:02:07 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: because <3:02:07 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: he he typically is willing to get his homework done <3:02:14 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: got to do his homework before he's allowed to get on video games or watch TV so that that part's going well but <3:02:14 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know <3:02:15 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay <3:02:24 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: his homework stand then he's <3:02:27 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: pretty much got a screen in front of him <3:02:29 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: it <3:02:31 PM> John Stout - Doctor: have you talked to John about these concerns <3:02:34 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay <3:02:37 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: you know we talked with him about you know it's important to eat healthy foods just try it those kind of things and he is like <3:02:49 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: a robot almost saying I don't like it I don't like it I want to eat what I like <3:02:55 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: yeah <3:03:02 PM> John Stout - Doctor: what in what way do you think you could maybe go about that conversation differently if it hasn't worked before <3:03:10 PM> John Stout - Doctor: mm-hmm <3:03:14 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: yeah we don't know what else to <3:03:17 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: say to him I mean we've said you know <3:03:23 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: is important need healthy or eat you know vegetables and <3:03:29 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: things that aren't just full of sugar and salt if you want to be healthy <3:03:34 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: um <3:03:35 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: I guess as an eight year old he's not all that concerned about being healthy <3:03:40 PM> Paul Hershberger - Patient: okay that's fine let's stop here <3:03:42 PM> John Stout - Doctor: okay <3:03:44 PM> John Stout - Doctor: I'm gonna be honest I'm having a hard time figuring out where to go ________________________________________________________________________________ End of transcript at Mar 13, 2026, 3:04:13 PM
